It was touched on with the first (and second) article that a lot of this is just trial and error. References of the actual aircraft is also good if you want something more "realistic" (which I normally do for my aircraft as opposed to off the cuff sometimes) of course requires more stringent means, but when done right looks just as real as the aircraft itself.

 

Nice finds though!

Indeed Eric...though, with WW1 aircraft...it's all trial and error..due to the lack of pictures
