RAF BE12

Recommended Posts

I uploaded the RAF BE12 today. I was a single seat version of the BE2c. It had a larger, V12 engine, which pretty much crowded out the gunner. It carried a synchronized Vickers gun on the side of the fuselage, but didn't have the maneuverability to make a good fighter.

My version has two skins, a full set of number decals, and has three bomb loadouts.

My thanks to ojcar for making the FM, and for providing reference materials for the plane.

I just uploaded the RAF BE12a - a single seat version of the BE2e. It's basically a BE12 but with the wings of a BE2e. It has a full set of number decals and 3 bomb loadouts. This will finish my variants of the BE2c, now I'm going back to planes for the Eastern Front for a while.

I guess the pilot's must have felt pretty helpless in these crates. Last night I ran (alone) into two Fokker D.II .....no chance to escape

Great addition and thx for the superb work

Yes great planes and, with the BE2e, they fill some of the few significant gaps left in the FE/FE2 planeset.

Strongly recommend fliers of the BE12/12a make the following edit (in bold) in the files BE12_Cockpit.ini and BE12a_Cockpit.ini, changing the existing value to something as shown, around the 180 degree mark, so you can see behind (allowing for peripheral vision and a loosened seat belt, I opted for 185 degrees):

[CockpitSeat001]
ModelName=RAFBE12Cockpit.lod
HideExternalNodeName=Cockpit
OpenCockpit=TRUE
ExternalClipDistMin=0.04
Position=0.0,-0.95,0.52
Offset=0.0,0.0,0.00
ViewAngles=0.0,0.0,0.0
MaxYaw=185
MinYaw=-185

This is what happens if you don't :)
