Historical correctness

Recommended Posts

Good all guys.

In SF2V,during the Linebacker Campaign with the Navy,3W provides for the VF-114 and -213 the F-4B (67) as mount,but in reality the two units used the F-4J.

So,exist a way to change the B for the J in the game?

I've a full merged game with the Air and Ground Expansion Pack  v1.0 installed .

Also,I know that in the Gold edition of the abovementioned ExpPack is present the correct skin for the VF-161 during Linebacker;the skin exist as a single download?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks MigBuster,

fortunately I've the 3W Customiser.

My question was probably 'cause I'm in my first journey in the "mods world",so since I'm in the low of a learning curve,this wwill help for future use or to fix eventful problems.

But again thanks!

Also solved the VF-161 skin,I downloaded the Column5 skin.At first I've some trouble ,because despite my attempt to add the texture in the F-4B_67.INI,don't show in game;so after comparing the skin folder with the others I discovered that the VF-161 folder don't have the TextureSet.ini.so I duly copied that of the VF-111 skin,changed the needed line ( Directory,Squadron,ecc) and all worked!

I've only a small issue as the modex is showed in two digit instead of three,as for any U.S.Navy fighter squadron.

You're right,but personally I don't have the necessary know-how...

And about the VF-161 skin,i was over-optimistic declaring "all worked" before try a mission.In fact I've only a black skinned F-4, as happened for the Vautour...

If it's just a matter of changing changing it to the correct variant and it's associated skin, then the ini edits are really quite simple (literally just changing a 'b' to a 'j', altering the Sqn no. and editing the entry for the correct skin). Now if you were building a terrain... yeah, different story. :smile:

I haven't used the SF2 editor much, but you can save a campaign once you've customised it in the editor, yeah?

I don't customized any Campaign till now .

About the lack of skin for the Chargers,I note that differently from the other skin,the VF-161 one don't have the D folder with the various .tga files so is this the problem?And how to fix it?

If your decals are in Object\Decals\F-4B_67\USNVF161\d

then this is incorrect:

FilenameFormat=F-4b/161/d/bbun

Since you renamed a folder just simply change each statement in that ini file to account for the change:

FilenameFormat=F-4b/USNVF161/d/bbun

Ok I reinstalled the skin just before to go at the work,I'll try now, let know the result later.

You're right,and I'd the feeling ( despite I'm a completely rookie about any kind of mods) that this will be one of the pissible reason.

So I worked in the other way and reinstalled the skin and named the folder in Decal\F-4B_67 simply 161.But nothing

After this i tried also to rename the statement from

FilenameFormat=F-4b/161/d/bbun

to

FilenameFormat=F-4b_67/161/d/bbun

But eve this way the result is always the same

XUWYAt.jpg

But the loadout screen show the correct name

What is wring?What I do?

I know that the Chargers skin is present in the SF2V Air & Ground Exp Pack Gold,is possible extract only this skin?And the installation instruction reccomended a new clean installation.

I can't download and install anothe Campaign,my PC is close to explode!

did you forget to add the actual skin maps TO the skin folder, residing in the aircraft folder?

You need to do that, too

I'm not very handy with the terms but I imagine that the maps

are the imagine lije this.

HaO5iz.png

If yes,in Aircraft\F-4B_67\161 are present 5 image,patch.bmp,Decals.ini,TextureSet.ini and Numbers.lst.

Its it ok?

P,S. if not authorized to post the image please delete immediately!!!

no problems posting the image (at least not from us!)

are the skin maps actually NAMED the same as those needed for the F-4B_67??? TK has all his Phantoms using specific names.

Extract any stock skin for that Phantom, and make sure YOUR skin maps match the same names

This was the problem!

The skin maps was named F-4B instead of _67!

Now work,again thanks! :kudos:

Another small question:in my modded SF2E I installed various F-5s ok,but with the CF-5 the rocket launcher does not fire! ( the AI planes can use them without problems) and the NF-5s loadout screen don't show any kind of fuel thanks but in the Weapons folder are present,even in the single Squadron markings!

Good evening all,

almost 2 months since I joined this community and I still don't have enough words to thanks any and all the people which created some beautiful mods!

THANKS ALL!

And now the dumb question of the day:I'm actually play in the ODS the AV-8B,but I ariived in the month of May(!),but the truth is that the real Desert Storm lasted in reality a little more of 40 days.

In the previous campaign with the AMI Tornado,I feel  to have played for an inferior timeframe,don't remember well sorry!

So,what happened?Or,better,in which way I can prolong the Campaign for the right period of time?

Good day all guys.

Sorry for the frequent dumb questions,but only the skills and the know-how of the Forums' modders can solve the problems that a FNG like me have.

I've intalled the VA-216 skin for the A-4C downloaded from Column5.

I know that is a SF1 skin,so after follow the Wrench's thread about converting SF1 decals/skins to SF2  in the KB forum,I started a Campaign in SF2V but the plane look this way:

lr8q1k.jpg

rxBgVe.jpg

m2Zvh7.jpg

What happened here?

The problem are the decals,because the markings painted on the skins are correctely in place,I'm right?

What to do?

The nose-insignia should be around position 3.06,-0.15 (+/-). Yours is at 4.707,-0.113, so you should move those back by around 1.75

For all decals with Decalfacing=TOP or BOTTOM change the value AFTER the comma. All LEFT / RIGHT change the value BEFORE of the comma.

[Decal001]
MeshName=Nose
DecalLevel=0
DecalFacing=RIGHT
FilenameFormat=Insignia
Position=4.707,-0.113
Scale=1.5
DecalMaxLOD=4

Decal001 for example has decalfacing=right/left (red marked), so you need to reduce the orange number to move the decal back --> 4.707-1.75=2.957

So replace the orange number with the green one.

[Decal007]
MeshName=Left_Wing
DecalLevel=0
DecalFacing=TOP
FilenameFormat=Insignia
Position=-2.75,0.15
Scale=1.8
DecalMaxLOD=4

Same as above just for decalfacing=TOP and BOTTOM (light blue marked). Adjust the blue number this time. 0.15-1.75=-1.6

So replace the blue number with the gray one.

Do this for all decals. 1.75 is a guess here, maybe you need to adjust this number. Trial and error.
