So, as a discailmer, I only installed the game a few weeks ago so I might be wrong on how ED does things.

If you have your ear to the ground as far as DCS related topics go, you should be aware of the easter sale on the ED site.

Interestingly, the ED team only links to only their own E- store but not the steam shop.

If you go to the steam store, all the DLC is listed at non- sale prices.

Is ED hinting that it's gonna ditch steam? Or is everyone at ED get some bizzare memory issue where they forgot that steam existed?

Think it has mostly always been this way regarding the regular sales - the Steam arrangement appears to be different.

I believe the most recent sale was designed to be short on Steam but continue longer on their own site. You might have caught it after the Steam one ended but before theirs did.

I was coincidently checking the prices on team on good friday and saturday but I didn't see any discounts on steam before the ED sale. So I'm not sure.

I just installed DCS World from Steam. But now I see that FC3 (which I intend to get sometime soon) is not sale on Steam but it is at ED. Apparently, anything directly from ED is not compatible with Steam installs.

Did I make a mistake in installing from Steam? Are discounts more common/deeper at ED than on Steam?

as other members suggetsted, there might be a steam sale on after the ED one. If that is true then stick to steam as there is some DRM stuff that only allows for 10 activations whereas the steam one is infinate I belive.

In the past, you could move keys back and forth freely.

However, I believe the current policy is any key bought on Steam may be used on Steam or on the standalone version, but keys bought on ED's site for the standalone version will not work on Steam. So, if you're using the one from ED's site, you can use either source but if you wish to play on Steam you must buy from Steam.

      Dear Friends,
Today we present to you the 5.104 update. It brings a new campaign and new mission types for Career mode.
      5.104 UPDATE
The new historical campaign Sky Nomads now is already available on our website and on Steam. It continues the story of the Soviet fighter pilot you may know from the Blazing Steppe campaign. After having fought in the Stalingrad battle in 1942, in 1943 he found himself in a midst of a hectic battle of Kuban - the campaign title reflects a bit the nomad life of the 43rd IAP which had to constantly change airfields and endure several Luftwaffe strikes on its positions. There is more information about the campaign in our Dev Blog #344.

New missions in the Career mode are photo reconnaissance, artillery spotting, and the escort of the transport aircraft on airdrop missions. The photo recon missions are now available with the Arado Ar. 234 of Sonderkommando Götz in Normandy (in the next update it will be also added to Spitfire XIVe). Artillery spotting missions are given to RAF squadrons No. 26 and No. 63 in Normandy which had the Spitfire MK.Vb and were specially trained for this task. The transport escort missions happen in the historical timeframes of the Normandy, Market Garden, Bastogne, and Varsity airborne operations - you can them in any Allied fighter squadron. Do your best to keep them safe on their way to the drop zone and back home!

There are other changes and fixes in the list as well:
      5.104
New historical campaign Sky Nomads (Yak-7b pilot in the battle of Kuban). There is detailed info about it in our Dev Blog #344; New Career mode missions: Photo Recon on jet Arado Ar. 234 in Normandy (Sonderkommando Götz); New Career mode missions: Artillery Spotting on Spitfire Mk.Vb in Normandy (No. 26 and No. 63 Squadrons RAF that were specially trained for this task); New Career mode missions: Transport Aircraft Escort of C-47s on their way to their drop zones during Normandy, Market Garden, Bastogne, and Varsity airborne operations timeframes; Tank campaigns Last Chance and Breaking Point are updated (added tactical numbers to aircraft involved, added new vehicles to some of the engagements); Many award descriptions updated; Ju 87D-3: the additional armor plate now moves together with the canopy as it should; Bf 109 G-6/AS: rockets correctly disappear when jettisoning their containers. WARBRD RACE 2023 WINNERS
In other news - we have the winners of the air race finals. They will receive or have received gifts from us and VIRPIL Controls.

As you can see, CSW_Tommy454 grabbed the first prizes in both categories - air races are unpredictable and two participants crashed in their Messerschmitts after performing a difficult maneuver! The race stream is available here.
Also, if you have participated in the race qualification, don't forget to check your profile on IL-2 website - there is a -50% off promo code applicable to all released content, including the newest ones like Spitfire XIVe, SSW D.IV or Battle of Normandy.

Dear Fighter Pilots, Partners and Friends,
We are pleased to inform you that Open Beta 2.7.9 is coming in hot and we expect to have it for you next week. This important update will include substantial work to DCS: AJS-37 Viggen and additions to DCS: F-14A/B Tomcat. As planned, we will include a large number of new features for DCS: F-16C Viper as well as an important batch of open WWII enhancements.
DCS: Voice Chat is a comprehensive approach to radio communication in DCS World and should be available in the upcoming OB. This capability has been in the works for more than two years and will bring voice compatibility across the platform. We continue to test it thoroughly whilst encouraging our 3rd party developers to configure their modules accordingly. We are confident that this component will add a simple and powerful communication layer to DCS and we very much look forward to your feedback.
The festive season is here and without further ado we bring you the Winter Sale 2021, which offers up to 50% discount on our most popular modules and campaigns. The Eshop sale will run until the 10th of January 2022 at 15:00 GMT. Watch the video.
We kindly remind you that the Final stage of Shadow's Trophy Tournament will take place on Saturday the 18th December at 12:00 GMT.

        Voice Chat
      Development Progress
In the next Open Beta release, we will deliver a major update to integrated radio communications. Voice Chat operates natively within DCS and no additional software or instals are required. Please bear in mind that enhancements will be ongoing and we appreciate your patience and bug reporting as we continue developing this complex communication stack.
We will also be adding radio communication to the Combined Arms roles, ground units, ATC, and AWACS. Further development will contain encrypted communication noises, clicks, distortions and voice synthesising in real time and more.
To ensure correct usage of this new and improved feature, we have prepared a document on How to Use DCS Voice Chat.

As the end of the year approaches, the upcoming Open Beta will mark an important update to DCS World. DCS World Open Beta to Release
This week we made the big step of updating the release, "stable" version of DCS World from our current DCS World Open Beta version. Not only does this bring all modules to the release version of DCS World (like the Hornet and Persian Gulf Map), but it also integrates many fixes and updates that have been addressed in the Open Beta over the past several weeks. Some highlights include:
Support for new campaigns Added new USS John C. Stennis aircraft carrier Implemented initial version of video memory manager Added new OFFLINE mode Added China Pack Added moon light effects Added Static Object templates A-10C flood lights corrected Updates to the Normandy 1944 Map Added the new World War II Asset Pack units Corrected tail wheel behavior for the Spitfire Many improvements and fixes to the AV-8B Harrier N/A, M-2000C, MiG-21bis, C-101, SA342 Gazelle, Hawk T1, and Flaming Cliffs 3 aircraft You can read the complete, lengthy change log in the dedicated thread.
Next week will bring an update that includes many additions and improvements to our Hornet.
      DCS: Black Shark 2 – 2018 Trailer

In 2011 we released DCS: Black Shark 2, which is still the most authentic simulation of the Russian Ka-50 attack helicopter. Seven years later, the Ka-50 is still one of the most fun and exciting aircraft to fly in DCS World. With the graphical and updated world (like the new tree system and grass) that DCS World 2.5 brings, the Ka-50 is better than ever.

To highlight just how great the Ka-50 is to fly in DCS World 2.5, we’ve created an updated trailer video. Later this year, we’ll also be updating the Ka-50 cockpit (and A-10C!) to use our very latest graphic technologies.
