    I. The word before:
     
    AFGHANISTAN Terrain IS MADE FOR WINGS OVER ISRAEL (WOI) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    it runs with SFP1,WOV and WOE too, but then it does not include all features!

    II. History:
     
    From December 1979 till now Afghanistan is a land in war. Soviets, Dushmans, Mudjahedin, Warlords, Taliban and Americans (OEF) destroyed the once florish land nearly completly.
    This terrain is dedicated to all man who fought in this country and to all who lost their lives in a senseless war.

    III. The terrain:
     
    Afghanistan terrain is now complete. It covers the areas around Kabul, Bagram, Jalalabad, Kunduz, Mazar i Sharif, Kandahar, Herat and Shindand. In comparision with Beta 0.75 i have again retiled some areas to include rivers and to make corrections. New target areas are set, especially around Herat and Shindand. I also included the airbase Shindand. It was the fisrt operational Su-25 base during soviet Afganistan war
    You can fly and fight along the Jala Road and surrounding mountains, the Kandahar region and in the north eastern part of Afghanistan where today the German ISAF sector is situated. You will find enemy positions in the hills and valleys north of Bagram, but also single bandit troops on the soviet/allied hold lowlands. You will find friendly and enemy fortified hill positions
     
    - number of set target areas: -215
    - Missions which can be flown are CAS, Armed Recon, Recon, Strike,SEAD
    -Air to air missions are impossible, because no taliban airfield is set (as historical correct)
     
    -I recommend a seperate installation of WOI for Afghanistan terrain. The new nations.ini would otherwise make trouble with other terrains. (I set all nations = friendly, only Afghanistan= Enemy
    So you can fly for the Soviets and the OEF troops( USA,UK,NL etc) against the same Enemy)
    You can delete not needed planes (for instance Mirages) and groundobjects (SAM, Radar,most tanks etc) and you can include needed planes, like the Mi-24 or the A-10 more easily.
    -Panzers, like T-54,55,62 etc should be redesignated from TANK to ARTILLERY in their groundobjects data.ini. The reason is, that Panzers are widely useless in such a mountainous land. With the groundobjects i have included in this package you will have infantry engagements which are more Afghan style
    - Capun withdraw his permission to use his Mi-24D.lod and Mi-8T-Dest.lod file which were included in the Beta 0.6. Thatswhy you must download this files from Capuns site http://cplengineeringllc.com/SFP1/
     
    -IF you NOT HAVE WOI, you can use this terrain with SFP1,WOV or WOE too, but you must download the Afghanistan tileset from CombatAce download section. Some groundobjects, related with WOI will with other games not appear.

    -Unzip the file into your Wings over Israel
     
    Thats it!
     
    If you want then you can place mainscreen.bmp into your menu folder.
     
     
     
    Q: What is to do to make it usable for WOE,WOV and SFP1?

    overwrite line

    with

    For WOV open file Battle of Britain 70.ini with notepad editor
    overwrite line

    For SFP1 open file Battle of Britain 70.ini with notepad editor

    After this step install Afghanistan tileset by following the Afghanistan tileset Read Me.

  2. Formosa Strait Terrain version 1.0

    FORMOSA STRAIT TERRAIN
    =====================
     
    I.
    Formosa Strait terrain is made for "Wings Over Europe" WOE.
     
    With certain limitations you can use it in WOV, WOI and SFP1 too.
    (See PS on bottom of this file.)
    ==============================================
     
    II.
    Formosa Strait Terrain covers the island of Taiwan, a part of the coastline of the Peoples Republic of China (PRC) and the Strait between which has different names like Formosa Strait, Taiwan Strait or Taiwanhaixia. All names i use are taken from an old german atlas and it seems to be that there are a lot of different transcriptions of chinese names in german or english language.
    Formosa Strait Terrain is a nearly 100% terrain, what means, that the distances are not cut down to 60% as in the GermanyCE standard terrain.Certain differences are caused by warp while converting GOTOPO30 satellite height data into WOE format.
    The position of the runways should be more or less correct, their direction is not always as in reality. The airfields themself are made by using variations of WOE standard airfileds and by using the 9 airfileds i made for Deutschland terrain.

    INSTALLATION
     
    1.)unzip all files into your Wings over Europe/Terrain folder
     
    2.)unzip Groundobject.zip into your Objects folder.
    (this file install modified versions of the SumnerFram2 destroyer and the Cargoship. It also install a Silkwork Anti Ship missiles launcher and chinese Panzers of the Types 59, 63, 69 and 80)

    Q: How i can get Formosa Strait Terrain running in WOV, WOI or SFP1
     
    A:
    1. Open file Formosa.ini
    2. Look for line CatFile=..\GermanyCE\GermanyCE.cat
    3. Replace this line with:
    for WOV: CatFile=..\VietnamSEA\VietnamSEA.cat
    for WOI: CatFile=..\IsraelME\IsraelME.cat
    for SFP1: CatFile=..\Desert\Desert.cat
    4. Download a WOE capable terrain replacement tileset via Internet. Such tilesets you can find at www.combatace.com
     
     
    Limitations are caused by the fact, that certain objects which are standard in WOE (power plants, bridges) are not always included in WOV, WOI or SFP1.

  3. Madasgascar Terrain and Campaign

    Here is it, in all it spelndor and glory. Prepare to be amazed by the terrain. The campaign is just a small one so you all would have something to play with. It is nothing big as I have bigger plans for this little terrain.
     
    You need:
    AD's Su-17 and A-7B w/Column5 VA-93 skin.
    The AV-8C by Russ with the VMA-231 skin by me.
    The Mig-17 skin from Volks is included.
     
    Just put the campaign in your campaigns folder. The win,lose,stall.txt files go in the main campaign folder of your SF install. Put the terrain in your terrain folder, make a copy of the desert.cat file and rename it to AE.cat.
     
    Put Volks Mig-17 skin in the main Mig-17 folder and add this to the mig-17.ini

    I think this terrain looks like the Falklands did in the war. It is/was WIP. You can add carriers and ships to it easily. It does need more targets etc but its a good furball terrain so enjoy.

  5. Israel 2 terrain

    Israel Terrain INSTALLATION instruction:
     
    1.) unzip all files into your Strike Fighters folder
     
    2.) If you use WOV open WOV folder and copy file Israel2.ini into Israel2 folder
     
    3.) If you use WOE open WOE folder and copy file Israel2.ini into Israel2 folder
     
    For WOE and WOE you must download a desert terrain tileset seperatly!

    The first versions of Israel terrain for SFP1 were very successfull. They were downloaded in high numbers from C6, Combatace, Avsim and other sources, but i was never really satisfied with it. The reason was, that the size of Israel terrain was only 60% of reality.
    With the new terrain editor tool TK offered to the community i was able to make a terrain that is nearly correct scaled. But i had to rebuild the terrain completly from the scratch.
     
    As promised i release the new terrain now short before Christmas.
     
    What is new?
     
    *Completly new terrain with enlarged size. It covers now also Cyprus and Lebanon
    *additional terraintiles (Canal, Mountainwoood)
    *airfields with multiple runways
    *new designed SAM fence along the Suez Canal
    the SAM Complex west of the Bitter Lake (Osiris) i designed using a report about the big air to SAM battle in 1970 between the Israelis and the Egytians. So Osiris should be more or less historical correct. The positions of the other networkes (Ra, Isis, Sala Uhudin) are more or less fiction. I also reduced the number of SAM sites, as requested by some players.
    *number of target areas is now 292 (212 in the preview, 128 in Israel v1.5)
    * I include a smoothed terrain height data file in folder Israel2/Smooth. Personaly i prefer the more rough standard terrain, but if you like a smooth terrain copy file Israel2.hfd from folder Israel2/Smooth into Israel2 folder
    * I included also updated Panzer files. The T-34,T-54,T-55,T-62 have now coaxial machineguns and their performance is now a little bit more real.
    *The SAM Fence along the Suez Canal now consits only between 1970 - 1976. In 1977 the Egyptians changed their AD startegy from area defence to point defence.
     
     
    I want to say thank you to all guys who supported Israel2 terrain with ideas, hints, files and good wishes. Thanks to Polak for the Pontons and the Pyramids, Gecko6 for the Coolingtowers, thanks to the guy who made the factory complex some years ago (I forgot his name) and of course TK for the terrain editor and the great SFP1 flight sim.
    And finaly a big thank you to all unnamed and forgotten object and file makers.

  6. Bombing Range Terrain

    This started as a post by Aladar on the SIMHQ forum and quickly turned into what I would consider a very important add-on for Strike Fighters. The difficulty in weapon delivery for this era screamed for an area for virtual pilots to practice and hone their A2G skills.
     
    There are two versions of the terrain, one for friendly aircraft called Bombing Range and one for enemy aircraft called Red Range. Both are installed when you run the installation program. It is important to remember that only friendly aircraft such as NATO forces can be flown on the Bombing Range and only enemy aircraft such as Soviet forces may be flown on the Red Range.
     
    The Range Terrain consists on an airfield and main range complex. A variety of targets are available for bombing. Intercept missions against a drone aircraft are available when flying the included pre-built single missions.

  7. Persian Gulf Terrain

    This terrain is written for SFP1, but should work properly with WOI,WOV and WOE.

    I. Short description:
     
    This terrain covers the most parts of the Persian Gulf from Strait of Hormuz to the oil fields of Bandar e Khomeni. It includes the coastal region of the Iran, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar and the coastal region of Saudi Arabia. Kuwait and Iraq are NOT included in this terrain, because an other terrain (Desert Storm) is already covering this area.
    At the moment Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the western part of Iran are ready for action in this terrain. Ground combat you will see on iranian soil, mostly in the Busher area.
    At the UAE and the eastern part of Iran only airfields are operational, no other targets. This will come with the next update.
    The tiles of the street network are only placeholders. I'm not satisfied with them. They will also replaced.
    There are some other issues which still have to be done. Dont forget. Its a beta release at the moment.

    1. 312 target areas instead 175 in Beta 0.1
    2. Iran is nearly finished. Rivers, towns, villages, bridges, some factories, ports, oil fields, Scud launchers, coastal defence missile launchers are set on the map. A SAM network around Bandar Abbas in the southeast of Iran ist installed now

    Unzip all files into your StrikeFighters/terrain folder.
    Put folder Silkworm into your objects/groundobjects folder.

  8. 10 new airbases for SFP1/WOE

    1: This is an update of version 2.0 to make the airfields compatible with the October 08 patch.
    The other rason to make a new version is that Capun requested to remove his files from this mod. Thats pity, because his static aircrafts were a nice feature of my airfields.

    2. This is the release of the 10 new airbases for WOE.
    The bases are:
    GDR (East Germany) Drewitz
    Holzdorf
    Marxwalde
    Preschen
    Trollenhagen
    Zerbst
    FRG (West Germany) Ahlhorn
    Büchel
    Hopsten
    Pferdsfeld
     
    All bases i made by using satellite pictures to place the groundobjects to become a look that is similar to the original airbases.

    Be carefull! Backup of your _targets.ini and _types first!
     
    1. Unzip all files into your Terrain/GermanyCE folder.

    4. A word to modders
    In the folder "Airfields raw files" you find 10 txt files.
    Each file containes the lines of one airbase. So it is easier for you to copy this unique airbases for use in other terrains target_data.ini file..

    I want to say thank you to Enrico Gennari who made the runway, parking areas and taxiway files. I also want to say thank you to the unkown guy who made the basic file for the GFD-12 shelters which i have taken from EuroWW2 terrain.

    For Wings Over Europe October 2008 Patch
     
     
    This is my first full-fledged terrain mod. It includes a base tileset by Deuces, together with Stary's forests and farms mod adapted for use on this terrain. I have also created a large number of additional transition tiles based on Deuce's tiles, which may be of interest to terrain builders.
     
    The tile naming format is compatible with the stock GermanyCE tileset for ease of expansion, but be aware that the excellent hi-res and seasoned tilesets by Brain32 and Stary in particular will not have all the necessary transition tiles, so use them with caution. Should you wish to use the included transitioned tileset for your own terrain mods, copy all the terrain .bmp files and .tga files into the "Tileset" folder and convert the .tga tiles to .bmp format. See Gepard's excellent terrain tutorials in the KB at CA for more info.
     
    All mission types are activated, for both red and blue side flyable. The Americans have their existing bases on the Aleutian Islands. I have handed the northern Kuril Islands to the Japanese for the sake of this scenario. Take it as read that the Soviets were sufficiently distracted by the ground war in central Europe that they lost their hold on the Kurils to Japan. Now, the Soviets are engaged in a fierce battle for control of the strategically important Kamchatka Peninsula.
     
    This is a target-rich, fictionalised version of the Russian Far East. There are many installations and industrial zones in the Kamchatka Krai that you will not find in real life. Equally, as much real-life stuff as I could discover went into the mix. Also, this is intended as a showcase of a fully-transitioned tileset, so there is much more agriculture than you would get at these latitudes. Just kick back and enjoy the scenery.
     
    Finally, there is a monstrous presence lurking at the heart of the Peninsula who has risen from aeons of deathless sleep to trouble the affairs of men once more. Bragging rights to the first person to take a recon photo of this horror and make it back to base alive, and with their sanity intact ;-)
     
     
     
    INSTALLATION:-
     
    Simply unzip and drop the "KAMCHATKA" folder into your Wings over Europe/Terrain folder.
     
    It is highly recommended that you install the files listed below or you will not get the full intended Kamchatka Krai experience.

  11. Enhanced Hi-res Terrain Set for Wings Over Europe

    This terrain set is based on the Wings Over Europe default terrain tiles. It maintains the layout of the original terrain, and leverages many of the base textures. However, the overall color scheme, graininess, and shading of the original has been improved, along with many tweaks here and there. In addition, the tiles have been converted to 512x512 tiles, which improves some of the jagged edges and allows for some additional detail.

    This terrain is written for WOE.

    I. Short description:
     
    The terrain covers the baltic entrance, the bottleneck of Denmark which is blocking the free way from the Baltic Sea to the north Sea. You can fly over entire Denmark, to most southern part of Norway and Sweden, northern Poland, Northern east and West Germany and a very small part of the Netherlands.
    The terrain is set as a cold war scenario. You will find the NATO with Norway, Denmark, West Germany and the Netherlands as blue power, the WP states GDR and PR Poland (plus soviet bases in this contries) as red powers and the neutral Sweden.

    II. INSTALLATION:
     
    Unzip all files into your Wings Over Europe /terrain folder.
    Put folder UnimogBW into your objects/groundobjects folder.
     
    Thats it.

    For WOI open file Osteeeausgang.ini with notepad editor
    overwrite line

  13. Suez 2 terrain

    SUEZ 2 TERRAIN Version 2.0

    Suez 2 terrain is a version of my Israel2 terrain with the borders pre 1967 Six Days War and with enhanced tilesset. The main difference between Suez 2 and Suez terrain is, that Suez 2 is now sized nearly correct, while Suez terrain size was only 60% of real. The number of target areas is increased from 94 to 346. New areas with targets are the Golan heights and the Westbank.
    In Suez 2 terrain you will find Lebanon as neutral contry, Syria is holding the Golan heights, Jordan is owner of the Westbank and Egypt rules the Sinai and the Gaza strip.
    The SAM fence along the Suez Canal is not installed, because it was built between 1970 and 1972. Only some point defence SAM you will face over the Sinai, close to Kairo and near Beni Suef Airbase.
    Suez2 terrain is more smooth than Israel2 terrain. If you want to have the same roughness like in Israel2 terrain simply copy files Israel2.hfd into Suez2 folder and rename it into Suez2.hfd.

  15. Southern California - Ver 2.0

    Southern California Terrain Ver.2 for SF/WoV/WoE -and possibly FE, WoI and SF2
     
    This terrain mod is designed to COMPLETLY replace the version I released in 2008; however, you will probably need some of the Ground Objects included in that pak.
     
    This semi-fictional terrain represents the Southern California region, along with parts of Nevada, Northern California, Arizona, Baja Mexico and various and sundry parts in between. I use the term 'semi-fictional', as for the most part, the cities and airfields are relatively close to their real life locations, but some fictional target areas have been added for playability. As close as I can, I've tried to match the actual positions of cities, air bases, etc, and used their actual names. Considering that I live in Los Angeles, and have been to a LOT of the places depicted.... This is a very heavily populated map, a heavily defended map, with all kinds of eye candy, plus LOTS of "Easter Eggs". A repainted version of airfield 3 (the dirt strip) is also included; ala Fubar's version, it's been paved over.
     
    I've designed this to be used in the alternative world of the "Global Sedition" vs the "North American Alliance". It is, however, usable in any era from 1940-2040, with minor changes in the targets and types inis.
     
    It is based on USAFMTL's SCal map from his Top Gun mod from several looong years ago.
     
    This package contain just about everything you'll need, from new inis, HFD & TFD, tiles -including a whole bunch of new ones, and their associated TODs- LOTS of new fixed terrain objects (destroyed buildings of all flavors).
     
    It has been -almost- completly rebuilt, with the creation of briefing, movement, a completely NEW targets and types ins, and upgrading the data ini to the latest standards. Water effects are active, so Vista users take note...more information for you is below in the Install Instructions. See "Notes for Vista Users", below, if you're using an unpatched version(s) of the games.
     
    It is reccomended (read: REQUIRED) that you have Pasko's SAMs and Vehicles Pak installed in your GroundObject folder; either or both the Desert or Euro skinned vehicles, plus any additional vehicles such as Kesselbrut's ZIL truck pak, Infantry paks, Moonjumper's fix for the BM-14-16 (adds working Kytusha rockets) and any other SAMS or AAA, vehicles or whatever strikes your fancy. With such an 'open ended' time frame for use, any and all GroundObjects should be available for use.
     
    It has been tested in SF, WoE and WoV. It should work in FE & WoI with the correct cat pointer -- this has NOT been tested, however. It should also work in SF2, as long as you adjust the cat pointer lines in the main ini.
     
    As to be expected, there's a pretty detaile readme enclosed -- so read it first after unzipping and before installing. Vital instructions, and so forth and so on inside that'll make things a bit easier for you.

  16. Bering Straits Terrain & Targets Upgrade


    Bering Straits Terrain Upgrade for SF, WoE & WoV
     
    This is a rebuild of Major Lee's Bering Straits Terrain from his superb !!! DBS mod.
     
    The terrain has been fully updated to the latest standards, as needed by the 9/08-10/08 patch for SF/WoV/WoE/WoI. As it stands, it really needed very minimal editing, mostly to the targets and types inis, to remove the 'fixed static' parked aircraft, and the extraction and renaming (with some editing) of the new Desert airfield inis to allow for in-game generated parked aircraft. Some new targets and target areas have been added; mostly some small items, dressing up a few places, and the additon of US air defense batteries. The airfields have been 'cleaned up'
    somewhat, but to a large extent, remain pretty much as Major Lee built them.
     
    The mod is designed to completely replace the terrain as originally issued. Or any other variants thereof.
     
    This is the FULL terrain, plus the 'tweeks', as seen in the DBS Total Conversion Mod, with no changes to the dogfight BUT some additions to the movements inis. The Types ini has been expanded substantually, with the additon of lots of new ground objects. As you can expect, there ARE Easter Eggs at various places on the map...you'll just have to find them for yourself...and there's a LOT of them. Water effects are active, but this should pose no problem for Vista users, in the post-patch world. Playing on the 'safe' side, I've left the instructions for commenting out the shaders in the sections below. For those that haven't patched up yet. Not that you can really see the water, what with all that ice and all...<grin>
     
    Included are several 'new' ground objects; most of which are available in several other terrain mods I've done (basically, the NIKE batteries from SoCal) BRAND NEW Nike units, by ErikGen. New planning maps, although I've kept (ie: reused) Major Lee's US Flag and Soviet Star style icons for the airbases on both sides on PlanningMap3.

    = It is NOT reccomended for use with WoI What with it being frozen and all=


     
    As expected, there is a HIGHLY detailed readme -- I'd reccomend reading the document all the way through before installing; it might make you life just a bit easier. Expecially the 'General Notes and Other Nonsense' sections.

    Having only SFP1 and FE, and with all the tremendous work made by CA community on the WOE GermanyCE Map, I have decided to create my own Germany Map. That' s the result !
     
    Credits: TK, CA_STARY, Brain32, The Wrench, Polaks, Jan Tuma, Pasko, Hinchibrooke and likely many other people from the CA community.
     
    What's new in this Map:
    -2 new tiles have been added to the base WOE tileset :
    GERMANYSJ.TGA small lake in a field tile.
    GERMANYSA.TGA small lake in a mountain tile
    - More forest areas with small roads and small towns
    - New tods for having snow trees in the mountain areas
     
    Lots of targets including :
    Bridges at Arnhem, Nijmegen, the Rhine towns and München
    A cargo convoy with destroyers, cruiser, Uboats to simulate a naval battle, German warships in the Hamburg harbor.
    Tank and truck convoys thru the ardennes and towards Arnhem to help simulating both 1940 WestFeldZug, the battle of the Bulge and
    Operation Market Garden.
    Water color has been changed to give it a more greenish look.
    Many towns in Holland, Denmark and Germany

  20. Libya - Version 3.0 Ulitmate Final -

    Libya Terrain Upgrade, Version 3.0 -- For SF/WoV/WoE and probably WoI/FE/SF2
     
    Ok, I know, I know...I said I'd NEVER go back to this terrain, but since the 2.0 FINAL was released I've learned a bit more on how to use the Terrain Editor...to wit:
     
    There has been extensive retiling of many of the major areas on the map, replacing LOTS of mismatched or ill-fitting tiles. The entire coast of North Africa, from Tunisa to the Libyan/Egyptian border and been completely retiled with matching units. Sicily and Greece, and the 'boot' of the toe of Italy have also been extensively retiled. Approximately 75% of the map tiles have been replaced -BY HAND!!!!-, making a much smoother and better looking map. Unfortunately, a couple of the target areas required small location adjusments, so that had to be corrected as well.
     
    Included in the package are new HFD, TFD, data and targets inis. The data ini has been fully updated to make use of the terrrain effects as per the 9/08 & 10/08 patches. Adjustments to sea level and uping the Alpha Object count have also been implemented in the data ini. Some trees are around, but not as many as I'd like.
     
    You =MUST= have the orginal Libya 2.0 terrain to make use of the Update Pak. It's available in the CombatAce download section at the following url:

    The targets ini in this pak includes the "Targets Hot Fix", and the new planning maps from that package. So, don't worry if you don't have the Hot Fix pack.
    So, really...consider this the Ultimate Final Version....I'm NOT going back to it again. Promise!!
     
    = This has been tested in WoE (my main Laboratory of choice..) As it was originally built for SF, no worries there. WoV should also be no problem. It -should- work in WoI and First Eagles, but you'll still need one of the Original 3 Terrains ™ for the terrain cat reachback. This, however, has =NOT= been tested. You use it in these games (WoI & FE) at your own risk.
    For SF2 users ... don't know what you to tell ya...you're on your own! =
     
    As usual, there's more relatively simple install instructions in the enclosed readme. So, give it a once over...

  22. American North West - 4 Seasons Rebuild


    Upgrade for America NorthWest Terrains: 4 Seasons Inclusive Build


     

    -for SF/WoV/WoE/WoI and maybe FE?


     

    The original America Northwest Terrains; AmerianNW, AmericanNWinter and AmericaNWSpring, were released sometime back in 2003. They are exceedling FUN maps to fly on, as they are full of deep canyons and high mountain ranges. But...with the advent of the 9/08 patch for the entire 3rd Wire series, they can now be combined into ONE terrain, and with a few ini edits, allow for =ALL= 4 season to be present in ONE terrain folder. Seasonal changes are based upon the date a mission is flown, in single mission (month/day - year makes no difference), and probably in campaigns as well
     
    This package includes ALL 4 seasons for Major Lee's "America NorthWest" series, combined.This package is designed to TOTALLY REPLACE =ALL= the original terrains, with one single install. Editing has been done to the all the inis, as per the latest patch standards. Included are also my targets and movements enhancements, as seen in a 8/07 upgrade, with some additions.
     
    Included are the "Spring", "Summer" (by CA_Stary), "Thaw" (by Doghouse & Deuces), and "Winter" seasons as new subfolders of this rebuilt terrain. A new 'EnvrionmentalSystem.ini', that is terrain specific, was created that raises the cloud deck OFF the mountains. It's also super easy to edit, to allow for lower clouds, if that is your wish. You'll also find regional specific trees (pine) scattered across the landscape. It looks sooo much better with trees!!! :) For those looking for it, YES, there are more than a couple of Easter Eggs, as you've all come to expect.
     
    While set in the "What If.." world of the Global Sedition vs the North American Alliance, it's quite usable for just about anything. =EXCEPTING= no anti-ship missions, as there's no large bodies of water for shipping routes. (see my pleas for retiling in the "General Notes and Other Nonsense" section below)
    The movements ini has been expanded for more Armed Recon missions, with additional truck routes for both sides. Additonal targets have been added (one new city, airport and train stations for each side), and new Ground Attack routes for CAS missions. I added an oil field to the Alliance side, to give the Sedition forces something extra to bomb, and Alliance forces something to protect. I figure the story line would be "short on resources, the Global Sedititon is trying to capture the Salmon River Oil Fields and Elk Mountains Uranium Mines for their own". New country flags have been added (the 2 GS and Alliance flags are still here!) for NAA alllies - USA and Canada.
     
    This has been tested in WoE (my main Laboratory of choice..) As it was originally built for SF, no worries there. WoV should also be no problem. It -should- work in WoI and First Eagles, but you'll still need one of the Original 3 Terrains ™ for the terrain cat reacharound. This, however, has =NOT= been tested. You use it in these games at your own risk.
    Vista users should also have no problem with terrain effects, as the latest round of patching has apparently cleared up that problem. And the fact that there's no water on this map.....
     
    Included as well is FastCargo's SON-9A "FireCan" AA control radar, and some ini updates for a few of the stock "Red" AAA units, networking them to the FireCan.
     
    PLEASE read this entire ReadMe all the way through before installing; there are some issues I've encountered that need some explaining, and this will give you a better understanding of what I've tried to accomplish.

    This is a rebuild of MY rebuild of Edward's WW2 Pacific Theatre map of Northern Australia, Timor, and parts of Indonesia. This moves it up into modern-ish times; the operational time frame I've designed it for is apporximately 1950-2050. Modern place names have been used were needed (and discoverable!). It has been extensively updated for Post-08 Patch Level installs for the Classic Series ™ {herein after to be known as "TOS"}, and is usable in the New Series {herein after to be known as "NextGen"}.
     
    The Update is designed to COMPLETLY replace the earlier version I'd released some years ago, and is a COMPLETE terrain with just about everything needed for installation.
     
    It has been extensively re-tiled, with the addition of MANY parts from the WoV "GreenHell" ™ mod by Brain32 & CA_Stary, while still using ONLY the original stock tiles (in other words, TODs for the jungle/paddy/grass. City TODs are still the stock ones, due to target placements within the cities) . The target areas have been 'cleaned up' and enhanced, including some that are of a 'fictional nature' to enchance gameplay. The movement ini has had some additions for CAS missions on Timor., The data ini has also been brought up to present (post-08) standards, with all effects activated. For mission and campaign builder, 2 Friendly Carrier stations have been added.
     
    I've included several new ground objects, mostly to replace some that have gone missing from General Usage ™. Included are 1 new destroyer, 2 1/2 aircraft carriers, and some other things. (I say 2 1/2 carriers, as one, HMAS Australia, is just ini edits to create a "What If..." for the RAN). There's also quite a few surprises ... so keep a sharp eye out, especially when flying near coastlines/ports at night ...
     
    *NextGen users take note -- you =MAY= be making data ini adjustementst for use in SF2/SF2:V/SF2:E. I've experienced NO anomalies during testing. Your mileage may vary*
     
    **SF/SFG/SF2 Only users take note: you will be missing 2 of the naval vessels; the SumnerFRAM2 destroyer and the SCB-125 Essex class aircraft carrier. You will have to import the various and sundry bits from WoV or Post-08 Patch WoE. Or find "other alternatives". Or switch to WoE/WoV as your main gaming install.
     
    It is also suggested (read: REQUIRED!!) you have the latest weapons pak installed for the various guns, SAMs, and whathaveyous. This is mostly for the ships, and air defense units --this is MOST critical for NextGen SF2 series users!!!! Any additional Ground Objects you can get your hands on, is also HIGHLY reccomended!! (Pasko's SAMs and Vehicles Pak, Kesselbruts Zil Trucks, you get the idea...)
     
    As always, unzip this to a temp folder or your desktop, and you'll have access to the rest of the readme for it's instructions. It is also HIGHLY reccomended you read this document ALL the way through to get an understanding of what's to be accomplished, and how to do it.

    Isreal 2 Terrain Upgrade for WoI -- Version 2.5
     
    This update/rebuild is designed to REPLACE the one I released in March, 2008.
     
    This is an extensive expansion of Gepard's "Isreal 2" full-scale map he made several years ago for Strike Fighters. What this will do, is allow its usage in WoI (or any of the other games, for that matter). There has also been a massive 'cleanup' of several of the additonal airfields as originally issued. I've removed, for the most part, all but one runway where there were mulitples.
     
    Several new items have been added to the types ini, allowing the 1948-1967 timeframe for Historical missions and Campaigns in the Middle East region. This IS the full terrain =complete with tiles, tods, hm bmps in short, everything needed to correct pre-patch errors, and is designed to replace to earlier version, dated March 2008. This is updated to the latest standards, post 8/28/08 patch for WoI and WoV/WoE. This build repairs the sinking into the terrain, odd elevations and other funny business. Those still using SF will not benefit from this upgrade, and will not get the game generated parked aircraft.
     
    It has been extensively upgraded, with new movement, targets and types ins. Water effects are active, so Vista users take note...more information for you is below in the Install Instructions. See "Notes for Vista Users" below.
    Contraindicated: post-patch, the water effects for Vista users seem to be working.
     
    It is reccomended (read: REQUIRED) that you have Pasko's SAMs and Vehicles Pak installed in your GroundObject folder; expecially the Desert skinned vehicles, plus any additional vehicles such as Kesselbrut's ZIL truck pak, Infantry paks, Moonjumper's fix for the BM-14-16 (adds working Kytusha rockets) and any other SAMS or AAA, vehicles or whatever strikes your fancy. The SAMs are pretty important, as there are several batteries that call out for the SA-3 specifically, and the stock in-game SA-2s along the "SAM Fence" at the Suez Canal (although, they should be outside the historical year range I've designed it for this; call it a "backdated map"). As such, this map should be usable in the timeframes of 1948-2050.
    Please note: the ground objects included in the March 2008 build are NOT included with this version.
     
    It is designed to use either the Bunyap or Mirage Factory Weapons Pak; some of the names for the IDF air defenses (ie: the HAWKs and their associated radars) and their 'arranements', are taken from Nick Bell's 'NATO Air Defense Mod'; these are the names used for the 2 HAWK radars.
     
    As stated above, it is =specifically= designed for use with Wings Over Isreal. It has -also- been tested in SF, WoE and WoV, but to have the proper feel, use it in WoI only.
     
    Remember: this terrain IS designed with the 1948-1966 timeframe in mind; although there ARE many target areas still active for later years (ie: Canal SAM Fence, possibly the Cyprus airfields), but the WoI IsraelME terrain works best for 1967 and later years. As it was designed to.
     
    As always, there's an extensive, highly detailed readme with step-by-step instructions. You all should know what to do by this point.
    A (hopefully) full listing of contributors is in the readme...with my thanks for all their help.

  25. Deutschland Terrain Version 1.0 (Germany for SFP1/WoV)

    Version 1.0
     
    This is the first release of Deutschland terrain. It is freeware and intended as stop gap filler till "Wings over Europe" will be available outside the USA.
    It is made for SFP1, but can also used for WOV.
     
    *In comparision to beta v 0.75 i included some more ground tiles (Towns at rivers, 3 new tiles) The map is reworked a little bit.
    *The Rhine Valley between Koblenz and Bingen is now flowing more or less into the valley and not more over the hills. It is not perfect, but much better than before. (23 new tiles) It is a funny place for hedgehopping. In a further update i will include the castles for which the Rhine Valley is famous for.
    *The number of target areas is now 248 instead 186 in Betav0.75.
    *New targets are civil ports in the GDR and the FRG, Antenna fields in the GDR. 2 naval bases in the East and one in the West (At this place i want to say thank you Capun and Mike Whl who gave me the permission to use their Osa and Koni ships as static targets)
    *I placed some ponton complexes on the map (Again thank you to Polak, who mad the pontons originally for my Israel terrain)
    *West Germany got a SAM defence
    *additional east german Industry is added
    *some big barrack complexes are placed at the map, including one of the longest buildings in the world Prora which you will find near the big eastern bay at island of Rügen
    *The CoolingTowers of the powerplants now have smoke. (Thanks to Darreck for the CoolingTowers) The smoke is not yet perfect (The exhaust time is to short) But i hope that this problem can be solved.
     
    *I found some bugs, like the Hawk launcher or Shilkas at the runway and solved the problem. Some files for troubleshooting you find in the subfolder "Special" in Deutschland folder
     
     
    With this release of Deutschland terrain this terrain is far away to be complete. Germany is a so heavy populated contry that the number of target areas could be increased to 1000 or 10.000 and you would not have all possible targets.
    I have concentrated my work on the east of Germany, the former GDR. I also invested a lot of time in the northern part of West Germany and the Rhine Valley, the former FRG. Bavaria and Thuringia are nearly untouched. You see, there is still a lot to do.
