  1. BH_DFW_CV_KuK_2-Tone_Hex.zip

Another KuK skin for the DFW C.V. I made this for House Hobbit's Italian mission pack.

Fuselage factory painted with 2-tone hex-edged bands. Rest of plane hastily sprayed in field. Based on a UFFAG-made Brandenburg C.I from 1918.

  2. BH_DFW_CV_KuK_Random_Hex.zip

Yet another skin for the DFW C.V in OFF. This one is done in Austro-Hungarian hex camo. The fuselage is 7 colors, totally random. The upper surfaces are 6 colors arranged semi-randomly in stripes and squiggles. I got this paintjob from (many) photos of Knoller C.II(Lo) number 119.15 in a museum in the Czech Republic. The paintjob is copied hex-for-hex from that plane, but because the DFW is somewhat larger and has different proportions, the pattern doesn't quite fit and I had to ad lib all the wingtips.

NOTES: The hex pattern is NOT supposed to like up between the top and the sides of the fuselage--they don't on the real plane. Also, there are some texture mapping issues, most noticeably on the upper wing just left of center at the trailing edge. Pretend those are repair patches--nothing I can do about them.

  3. BH_DFW_CV_KuK_Unpainted

A DFW skin with no paint other than the insignia and serial number. This, with its darkly varnished fuselage, is intended to stand in for the Brandenburg C.I in its most common appearance. Seems like most KuK planes weren't painted.

  4. BH_Hannover_KuK_2-Tone v2.zip

A quick and dirty Austro-Hungarian skin for the Hannover. This is a 2-tone, hex-edged scheme based on UFFAG C.Is from mid-1918.

v2: Changed color of upper wing center section, lower side. Also some general minor tweaks.

  19. Captured Camel

This Skin is of a Captured Camel, flown by Otto Kissenberth of Jasta 23b at Epinoy between April/May 1918.
Discussion on the colouration of this Aircraft is rife, as there are only B&W photo's, but this is the most commonly thought of scheme.

Kissenberth used this aircraft to shoot down his 20th Victim (an SE5a) on 16th May 1918, and was shortly after seriously injured when he crashed this Camel.

He survived the Great War, as one of only three German Aces to wear Spectacles.

He died in 1919 in a climbing accident in the Alps.

  21. Celia V: N24 of William A. Wellman, Esc 87

1917 Nieuport 24 "Celia V", belonging to Corporal William "Wild Bill" Wellman, American volunteer flying with Escadrille 87.

Wellman went to France and joined the Norton-Harjes Ambulance Corps, later transferring to the French Foreign Legion, and then on to the French Air Service. After training on Bleriots and Nieuports he went into the Lafayette Flying Corps, assigned to Esc 87. Once he was assigned a mission to drop pamphlets on the Germans. While performing aerobatics over German lines his motor quit, but he managed to crash land and flipped upside down. He couldn't get loose and was rescued by French troops. Wellman was nicknamed "Wild Bill" by the French for his one-man dawn patrols over enemy lines where he would bomb and strafe the Germans. He had two confirmed kills and was eventually shot down by AA fire. In the crash he broke his back in two places, his control stick went into the roof of his mouth and he ended up with a permanent limp and a silver plate in his head. When Wellman was discharged as a sergeant from the French forces in March, 1918 he left with the Croix de Guerre with two Palms, the Medaille Militaire and the citations, A L'Ordre de L'Armee and Le Pilote Americain, Marshall de Logis. After the war Wellman went on to become one of Hollywood's leading directors. The initial success of his career was launched with the 1927 WWI aerial saga "Wings", the first film ever to win the Acadamy Award for Best Picture, (information courtesy of www.worldwar1.com).

I wish to thank Polovski, Winder, OvS, and rabu for their outstanding skins and graphics that provide the starting point for these paint schemes.

  23. DFW Naval Blue Hex

A DFW skin in the blue version of the naval 3-color hexagon camo, for use by Marinekorps Flandern. This isn't any specific plane, but the paint scheme is based on 1 interpretation of German naval colors. The bogus aircaft number 3841 is my signature. That was my ID number in the old DOS MMOFS Air Warrior and I kept it through the years in Warbirds and Aces High.

NOTE: Since making this skin, I have come to the conclusion that it's rather inaccurate in both colors and hex size. However, it looks cool so I decided to leave it up here for them as like it.

Now includes text file with OBD credit for original skin.

  24. DFW Realistic(?) Naval Hex by Bullethead

After a lot more research, I totally re-did the paintjob of my naval DFW skin. Now it looks (I THINK) about as realistic as possible, per Dan-San Abbott's information. Hand-painted, symmetrical hexes in hopefully the right colors, and the correct colors on the fuselage and rudder.

But for those of you who prefer the apparently inaccurate "blue" version, it's still available here.
