    1. Top Gun Music Theme for SF2 Series

Tested with Strike Fighters 2 series; should work with SF1 series via manual install.

This music theme was originally designed for Falcon BMS 4.32, but arguably better fits SF2 North Atlantic from a thematic standpoint.

This mod takes Harold Faltermeyer's music from the 1986 Paramount film "Top Gun" and applies it thematically to the different UI screens. The music was ripped from the film and processed by CamelBlue, but in some cases the removal of dialog resulted in muted music or inconsistent volume. In these cases, I mixed in the audio track of the F-14s shooting down the Libyan MiG-23's over the Gulf of Sidra. This mix worked better than I had hoped possible.

Now all we need is for somebody to mod the MiG-28...or perhaps an F-5 skin ;).

Easy Installation (no other existing menu mod)
Copy the included Menu folder into your SF2 mods folder

      Manual Installation (existing menu mod)
In most cases, I used the same name of the existing theme, so you can just insert the WAV files into your [sF2 Mods]\Menu folder. There are some exceptions noted below:

Replace the BackgroundMusic line with "BackgroundMusic=CreditsScreen.wav" (sans quotes) in the following files:

      AWARDSCREEN.INI MEDALLISTSCREEN.INI VIEWMEDALSCREEN.INI

Replace the BackgroundMusic line with "BackgroundMusic=Planning.wav" (sans quotes) in the following files:

      HANGARSCREEN.INI LOADOUTSCREEN.INI PLANNINGMAPSCREEN.INI ROSTERSCREEN.INI

Replace the BackgroundMusic line with "BackgroundMusic=CampaignScreen.wav" (sans quotes) in the following files:

      SINGLEMISSIONSCREEN.INI

      [4. Optional Enhancements]
I have another mod that reduces the size of the object icons on the planning map and makes them semi-transparent in order to see the map beneath the units. Since this mod also makes changes to the PLANNINGMAPSCREEN.INI, I have included this mod as an optional installation. If you copy these files to your [sF2 Mods]\Menu folder, then you will have both the Top Gun Music Theme and the new map icons working together.

      [5. Future Compatibility Issues]
In the effort to minimize the size of this mod, I used the some of the same files across multiple menus. This means that in order to ensure compatibility with future official SF2 patches, you may need to extract the ini files listed in the previous section from the MenuData.CAT file and compare the files to ensure compatibility. You can quickly find my changes in the sections bracketed by //.

Likewise, you can always copy and rename the WAV files to match the default WAV filenames in order to ensure compatibility for future patches.

      [6. Additional Information]
The debrief sound files are not listed in an INI from the Menu folder, but rather are listed by nation in the NATIONS.INI file. This means that even if you decide to remove this mod, you could If you wish rename the existing debrief music files and allow them to be played for the U.S. Navy. The updated section in your NATIONS.INI should read:

      [Nation003] <...> DebriefSuccessMusic=[RenamedDebriefSuccess].wav DebriefFailMusic=[RenamedDebriefFail].wav DebriefKilledMusic=[RenamedDebriefKilled].wav <...>

For support, please post in this File Announcement thread at CombatAce.

    2. Menu Music (ODS)

Menu Music (ODS) is a menu music project created to compliment Operation Desert Storm.

The file contains a small program by the name JSGME (JoneSoft Generic Mod Enabler) which can enable or disable the mod when used correctly. It's optional but highly recommended.

The Saved Games folder should be extracted to C:\Users\(Your User Name). If you don't wish to use the JSGME program simply copy the various folders from the folder MODS and move them to C:\Users\(Your User Name)\Saved Games\ThirdWire\OperationDesertStorm.

With these songs I tried to create an atmosphere which brings the tragic period of the war of the Falklands / Malvinas, I hope you like them.
Place the files into the "Menu" folder.

    5. Main Screen music: "Fleet Defender" theme

      Hi everybody!

Here it's back! For those who have played the nice sim from Microprose, "Fleet Defender", and want to remember that times (oh, the good old days).

This is the song that sounds in the Menu screens of Fleet Defender, and now you can use it as the Main Screen theme (or any other screen) in Strike Fighters 2: North Atlantic.

      I hope you enjoy it!

PD: For those who are new in the world of flight sims sure they will find this MIDI sound "old", but those who are veterans in this (like me) will become nostalgic.

    6. Multinational Speech Pack

Multinational Speech pack version 1.0 for Strike Fighters 2

SHould work on any type of SF2 installation.

This is a compilation of speech packs brought together by me from original files mainly made for IL-2 Sturmovik and released as part of DBW. Due to the limited phrases available, it is intended more for immersion than for accuracy. I can't claim any credit for the actual recording, but I did some re-editing and re-processing to better bring the files in line with SF2. I've also included a re-processed version of Gramps' Russian Speech Pack available on Combatace.

BE WARNED: If you speak any of these languages you may not enjoy how they fit into the game. For the most part I tried to find phrases that fit the different SF2 files in general meaning, but they are far from perfect, and a few are actually just random.

You may want to turn on subtitles, at least until you get used to the different phrases.

Special note to my fellow New Zealanders: I humbly apologise for lumping us in with the Aussies, but it was the closest I could get ;-)

      -----------------------------
      Credits and huge thanks:

As for the Arabic, I actually can't remember where I got them from, but thanks to whoever made them.

      Installation:

Place whichever pack you desire into the Speech sub-folder of your main mod folder

      eg: ...username/Saved Games/Thirdwire/StrikeFighters2 Europe/Speech/German

then go to the flight folder and open the NATIONS.ini file to edit whatever nationality you want to use that particular language. Making sure to use the EXACT same spelling as the folder you're pointing to.

      eg:

      It's as easy as that.

You can use different languages for as many different countries as you wish and whenever you fly for that particular country, that is the language you will hear.

This pack is strictly freeware. Use however you want, so long as it's free.

    7. ****World War Two period music for SF2****

****World War Two period music for SF2****

Ever since I first attempted a WW2 install for SF2 many moons ago, I have strove to make it as much "period" as possible. Of course, the music on each screen was modern and didnt fit in with WW2 in my estimation. I decided to try to locate some music from the era. Well, it wasnt hard at all! My first search located a wonderful plethora of websites and stations that still play and love the era and its music. It was all quite fun and interesting. Out of them all, my favorite has quickly become the VI corps music website located at http://www.6thcorpsmusic.us/. This is only a small part of a website put together by a woman in honor of her father who fought during WW2 in the 6th engineer corps.
I was able to download a number of songs from this website, my favorite being Glenn Miller, and convert them to .wav format for use in SF2. Install is simple. Just unzip the file into your StrikeFighters2 folder. Let it overwrite your menu folder. For the hangar music, I have included my hangarscreen.ini. As long as you havent extracted yours from your SF2 install for any other purpose, simply do nothing. If you have extrated it for whatever reason, its still simple. Just open the ini in a txt editor and add this...

      BackgroundMusic=HangerMusic.wav

And there ya have it. Hope you enjoy this music as much as I do. If not, visit the VI corps website and download and convert your own favorites, it was fun! Of course, this is oriented towards U.S. tastes at the time. I'd love to see a German, British, or even Japanese version of menu music come out. The .mpg files can be converted here... http://media.io
These music files are considered public domain and are released under the CombatAce Freeware Licensing agreement. You are free to modify these files and use them as you wish as long as the files are not used in payware of any kind. If you use them, please remember to give credit. These files are released to a great community of simmers at CombatAce and SimHq. Have fun and God bless.

    15. Cockpit background comms sounds.

This is a little in cockpit sound mod I've been using to replace the stock sounds, I feel it adds a little extra immersion by adding background radio comms to the cockpit environment..

With the appropriate comms you can set up virtually any aircraft from any nation to play background sounds in the language of your choice, this pack uses RAF/US comms but other languages can easily be added by the end user following my examples.

Sorry , but reading the readme is a must with this mod.

You WILL need to BACKUP some of your files first. !!

    16. Speech Enhancement & Expansion

      Speech Enhancement & Expansion
      February 13th, 2019 (1st Release)
      by Menrva

      >For Strike Fighters 2 games
This package is my personal enhancement meant to improve the consistency and quality of the in-game English speech. I tweaked the SpeechSystem.ini file to include the additional SF2NA voices ("call the ball" and "Vampire") separately from those of the TACC; the additional SF2NA voices are now meant to be those of a Navy Controller. By chance, I have found and fixed a stock bug in the original SF2 SpeechSystem.ini file.
With some .wav editing, I created a generic Hawkeye TACC using the original, female Red Crown voice. Additional .wav files have been created so that in-game flights and Departure mention Hawkeye instead of Red Crown.
I hex-edited the .str file so that subtitles properly display Hawkeye instead of Red Crown. Other little fixes were also made; for instance, you'll no longer see "Call the ball" (capital letter after a comma), now it correctly is "call the ball". You get Hawkeye as TACC when flying for naval aviation services, otherwise you get Red Crown.
This enhancement is a mixture of Polak's beautiful speech pack for SF1 games, and of SkateZilla's and Rends' improved Hawkeye voices; my thanks for their work!
As a bonus, correct and complete or mostly complete speech files have been added for other languages: Italian, Spanish, Vietnamese, Arabic, Persian. These languages have been added to the proper aviation services of countries where these languages are official:
-Arabic is used for Egypt, Syria, Iraq, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Lebanon, Somalia, Chad, Yemen, Oman, Algeria, Morocco, Sudan, Tunisia, Bahrain, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Libya, Djibouti.
-Spanish is used for Spain, Argentina, Cuba, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela, Bolivia, Chile, Paraguay, Uruguay, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Dominican Republic.
-Persian is used for Iran, Afghanistan, Tajikistan.
-Vietnamese is used for North Vietnam only.
-Italian is used for Italy only.
It's highly suggested to install this mod on top of my Nations & Medals Expansion package; the included NATIONS.ini file is entirely based on the one from that mod (hence that mod is required), but with additional edits for enabling different speech packs and callsigns where proper.
Mentioned countries feature correct callsigns as heard by the respective audio files (except for Persian, not possible for me to rework them without a transcription). The in-game subtitles have been fully reworked to feature such different callsigns.

      >Credits (in no particular order):
-Polak, for his SF1 mod which enhances all of the original SFP1 speech sound files.
-Rends and SkateZilla, for the improved SF2NA Hawkeye voices, which I have tweaked a bit.
-GKABS, for producing the (still in progress) Arabic speech pack started for the development of ODS 30AE.
-Nguyen Dang Hat and Rhugouvi, for creating the amazing Vietnamese speech pack.
-FX Interactive, for producing the Italian and Spanish speech packs for their release of Strike Fighters: Project 1.
-Gerwin, for his tips on properly hex-editing the header of .STR files.
I included the original readme files from the mentioned mods, to the end of giving proper credit to everyone involved directly or not.

      >Disclaimer:
This is a freeware; yet it can be redistributed ONLY in other CombatACE mods/mod packages.
This mod may NOT in any way, shape or form be used in any payware additions.

    17. Dogfights Soundtrack for Menus

      DOGFIGHTS Soundtrack Converted to WAV
      by JosefK
Although this is my conversion, all the credit really should go to FranK11 on YouTube who put both volumes of the two "Dogfights" episodic series soundtrack there plus YouTuber Mobius 176 who placed "Dogfights History Channel Soundtrack Deadly Skies Main Theme" on YouTube also.  I just downloaded the clips and converted to MP3, then WAV.  If the WAV is insufficient, I have the MP3s.
Of course, you're going to have to rename the files to which background music you want in SF2.  That's up to you, but some pointers from recent experience & going over Viper63's awesome work:
      1) You will want to put a WAV in the Flight folder to call "Loading.wav" and a screen called "LoadingScreen.jpg"
      2) You will want to rename these files to the names below and park in the Menu folder:
      *BaseScreen.wav
      *CampaignScreen.wav
      *CreditsScreen.wav
      *DebriefFail.wav
      *DebriefKilled.wav
      *DebriefSuccess.wav
      *HangarScreen.wav
      *LoadoutScreen.wav
      *MainScreen.wav
      *OptionsScreen.wav
      *RecordScreen.wav
      *SingleMissionScreen.wav
You also should create many JPGs for the menu folder like at the least:
      *CampaignScreen.jpg
      *CreditsScreen.jpg
      *DebriefScreen.jpg
      *DefaultBaseScreen.jog
      *DefaultEndScreen.jpg
      *LoadoutScreen.jpg
      *MainScreen.jpg
      *MissionEditor.jpg
      *OptionsScreen.jpg
      *PilotRecordScreen.jpg
      *PlanningMapScreen.jpg
      *RosterScreen.jpg
      *SingleMissionScreen.jpg
      *Titles.jpg
There you go.  Probably more information than you wanted, but information you need in modding menus for SF2.

    18. Strike Fighters 2: Sounds (+)

Strike Fighters 2: Sounds (+) is a default sound replacement project that has expanded to include unique engine and mechanical (Gear, Flaps, ...) sounds for various default aircraft for Strike Fighters 2, Strike Fighters 2: Vietnam, Strike Fighters 2: Europe, Strike Fighters 2: Israel, and Strike Fighters 2: North Atlantic. The focus of the project is to re-create a realistic cockpit environment, however, since the engine doesn't (?) support multiple audio environments (Internal vs External), this may negatively affect the external environment as a consequence.

The download contains a small program by the name of JSGME (JoneSoft Generic Mod Enabler) which can enable or disable the mod when used correctly. It's optional but highly recommended.

The Saved Games folder should be extracted to "C:\Users\(Your User Name)". If you don't wish to use the JSGME program simply copy the various folders from the folder "MODS" (Flight, Objects, Sounds) and paste them to "C:\Users\(Your User Name)\Saved Games\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2", or your custom "Saved Games" folder of choice.

I have also included optional radio chatter that replaces the default "Windloop" w/ radio chatter from various sources. This can be enabled via JSGME, or manually as described above.

    22. SF2 Starfox Speech Pack

This is a mod that I have been working on with the intent of replacing the generic wingman voices with those of the Star Fox team, as in Star Fox 64. This means you'll no longer be flying with "anonymous wingmen #1, 2 and 3", you'll be flying with Falco, Peppy and Slippy.

It's a bit of a tribute to SF64, because it was one of the first games to have full voice acting, rather then just text. Some of the voices and quotes are legendary as well. I have tried to fit in as many phrases from SF64 as I could, and replaced some calls and responses with generic chatter.

You may have to play Starfox 64 (or at least know something about it) to appreciate this mod.

    23. KAW pilot pics and new loading sound

Some Pilot pics and a new loading sound for KAW.
Loading sound replaces the annoying high pitched jet wind up sound with a more subtle Pres. Truman's radio address
to the American people about the invasion of South Korea.

    24. Menu Music (EU)

Menu Music (EU) is a menu music project created to compliment Strike Fighters 2: Europe.

The file contains a small program by the name JSGME (JoneSoft Generic Mod Enabler) which can enable or disable the mod when used correctly. It's optional but highly recommended.

The Saved Games folder should be extracted to "C:\Users\(Your User Name)". If you don't wish to use the JSGME program simply copy the various folders from the folder MODS and move them to "C:\Users\(Your User Name)\Saved Games\ThirdWire\Operation Desert Storm".
