      Unified Effects Pack

      For Strike Fighters Series 2

      version 1.0
      26 FEB 2011

This effects pack is a compilation of many effects I did over the years for Strike Fighters and First Eagles series of flight simulators by Thirdwire.

Build around "Desert Storm FX Pack beta" released in early 2009, this pack replaces most of the stock effects with new ones, most of them volumeric or "3D" in appearance. Also used are few reworked/tuned down effects from my "Hollywood Explosions" mod, aswell as several never before relased ones.

Various effects from earlier versions of UP that I tweaked or reworked through time included.

Please note several legacy effects graphics by Master Deuces, used in any of my FX works with his permission.

    5. Hollywood Explosions

      HOLLYWOOD EXPLOSIONS

(Previously announced as "Enhanced Explosions 4")

      by Stary

For Thirdwire series of Flight Simulators

      both Gen1 and Gen2 titles

      Note:
This pack was made for, and heavily tested in SF2:Israel merged with all SF2 gen titles. Dec09 patch installation.
No warranty for Gen1 Series/HDR Mod usage!

      -----------------------------------------------------

Hollywood Explosions f/x pack is my 4th edition of effects modding. I decided to name it this way, as a tribute to Longbow/Longbow 2 series of simulators -there was such an option there...

And ideology besides, as EE4 sounds kinky, new name for the pack... ok, RAMBO 4 was good, ALIEN Ressu-whatever was not...

    8. JGSDF Vehicle Pack 1

This is a package of 18 ground objects for the Japan Ground Self Defense Force, representing many of the significant combat vehicles from the 1970s to present. Four additional non-Japanese variants are included as a bonus, for a total of 22 distinct ground objects. All-new guns and missiles are included.

Note that these are all new models and not stand-ins or re-skins of existing ones. While they are relatively low-poly and low-res, if there is sufficient demand, I will update these models with more detail and improved textures at some point in the future.

      Featured JGSDF vehicles include:

    9. Postprocess shader tweaks

      Postprocess shader tweaks

FOR STRIKE FIGHTERS 2 DirectX 10 ONLY!
Made for and tested in SF2 all titles merged with Expansion Packs 1&2
(but should work with any SF2 title)

      version 1.0
      30.12.2010

This is set of modified Thirdwire postprocess shader variants that change the appearance of Strike Fighters 2.

This mod works only in Strike Fighters 2 in Dx10 mode. Also you need to set your effects detail to unlimited for this shader to display!
Please note that when using sepia, fake night vision and black&white shaders, various on-screen elements (like gunsight, HUD, radar display box and text) are still displayed unchanged. These are processed using different own shaders.

Included are several variants, with various color corrections (old film, sepia, black and white, light green, nightvision) and various strenghts of screen vignetting.

So the FM is finally corrected, the empty weights are now correct, as well as many minor other changes in order to make ir more realistic.

Don't be fooled, I did A LOT of research and a lot of BETA testing. When I had no definite data, I calculated, so some data are estimations.

For proving my point, I include a 4vs4 mission, Turkish F-16D Block 50+ (the heaviest Viper in service) against USAF aggressors.

Why v0.9? There are some planes missing. These are TW planes, as well as israeli -A models, egyptian, jordanian, UAE, thai, indonesian & singaporian planes.

      EDIT:

As it turned out, these should be released in a vol.2

      Requests:

I hope someone would make hi-res skins for all these nations mentioned above as well for the early -A models of the four european nations.

Also a proper lod for the taiwanese block 20.

      Logfile changes

      -------

      v1.0

      - Added the fabulous F-16A ADF AMI of dtmdragon, deleted the old F-16A AMI

      - The mission now is on more even terms, both F-16s have now the same loadout.

      -------

      v2.0

      - Added the following planes

      F-16A_Blk10-EAF
      F-16A_Blk10-IDF
      F-16A_Netz_87
      F-16B_Blk15-NDC
      F-16B_Netz_87

      - Now these planes are complete

      F-16C_B40_egy
      F-16C_B52+_egy
      F-16D_B30
      F-16D_B30_agr
      F-16D_B30_gk
      F-16D_B52+_egy

The Egyptian block 40 is based on the Turkish one, the block 52+ on the Polish.

      - Reworked DATA.INI for ALL planes. Mostly, but not only, reworked engine and weight data.

      - Four new missions are added. F-16 vs F-16, these missions are indeed very exciting.

Known issues: The F-16D block 30 skins should be tweaked a bit to represent a 100% proper -D block 30 skin.

F110 effects only - Fast Cargo < The new, proper F110 effects possibly again by Fast Cargo. If not, please verify.

      The egyptian skin - mohand777

The F110 engine sound, I was not able to trace. Pls PM for any feedback to give proper credit.

A v3.0 will come up, but not anytime soon that will include the above mentioned "jordanian, UAE, thai, indonesian & singaporian planes", hopefully even more than that.

    13. HUD modification for SF2

Hi!!! I felt tired of the "HUD" information, so I modified the HUDDATA.ini, and I'm sharing it with you guys!

The attached photos speak for themselves. I only left the enemy red box, the red cone that marks it's direction, and the yellow diamond for radar acquisition. If you want, you can modify it to suit your needs. Just unzip, and move it to your mods folder, to the Flight directory. If you don't have one, create it. Doubts? Just PM!!!I hope you like it!!!

    14. SF2 Combo Effect Pack v1.00

Compiled and Cleaned up by Ryan Crierie (MKSheppard)

Also available on my website at:
      http://www.alternatewars.com/Mods/SF2/SF2.htm
In case you hit your daily download limit

      -----------------

I claim no ownership or creation rights for any of thes effects; I just modded them to make them work in SF2, and then put them together to make it easier for other SF2 Owners.

      v1.00 circa 12/23/2009.

I went through all of my installed effects INIs from all my addons and the various effects packs, like Deuce's, LEXX LUTHOR's Strategic Nuclear Effects™, etc and edited them to make them SF2 shader compatible to fix missing effects like MiG-19 afterburners not appearing, etc.

      I used the rule of:

      Materials that have BlendOp=BLEND_SRC_ALPHA
      EffectShaderName=effectLightLevel.fx
(aka Volumetric emitters like smoke, groundmist, dust).

      Materials that have BlendOp=BLEND_INV_SRC_ALPHA_ADD_SRC
      EffectShaderName=twColor1.fx
(aka fire, explosion, light, flash, flare, streaks)

Found on Combat Ace Knowledge DB.

I slightly modified LEXX LUTHOR's Strategic Afterburner files so that you can have both Large and Small versions in use at the same time e.g. J58_Large calls the Large effect and J58_Small calls the Small effect. You can see this in the Screenshot for this mod; the one on the left is J79_Small and the one on the right is J79_Large.

I also rewrote some of LEXX's Nuclear Weapons Readme to make it a bit more comprehensible on how to make weapons datafiles call those effects in SF2.

    18. SF2 Alternate Clean and Dirty Exhaust Emitters 2016

SF2 Alternate Clean and Dirty Exhaust Emitters 2016
      By Viper63a

This mod includes custom exhaust emitters to replace the stock Clean and Dirty emitters. I've been tweaking these for about a year now (!) and I think I finally have it the way I like it.

If you're for vapor ripples or greasy streaks in the sky, these ain't it. The Clean emitter has just a tad bit more presence so you can see it when looking back. The Dirty emitter blooms darkly behinds the plane and fades into transparency.

If you choose to install these effects, I recommend that you back up your current "Effects" folder. Just in case you want to go back to your original setup.

To install, simply unzip and copy the uncompressed "To_Mod_Folder" folder to your "Saved Games" mod folder(s).

      Enjoy!

    21. Nations & Medals Expansion

      Nations & Medals Expansion
      April 13th, 2019 (1st Release)
      by Menrva

      >For Strike Fighters 2 games
This mod is an extension of the stock ThirdWire _nations.ini file. It adds new nations and respective national decals, missing from the stock game, and it adds numerous medals (made by Capitaine Vengeur and Charles) for the stock countries. Here below a summary of the changes:
-Added a number of new service markings decals, for the added nations.
-Remade decals for the fictive countries of SF2 to match the default 256x256 resolution of other national decals.
-The Mercenary decal no longer shows Dhimari colours; now it's generic and adapt for various scenarios involving mercenaries.
-The Soviet Air Force becomes the Russian Air Force since 1992, with proper new decals showing up since 2010.
-The Soviet Naval Aviation (Russian Naval Aviation since 1992) has been added as a separate service.
-The (Free) Libyan Air Force has been added and becomes active in 2012, in place of the Libyan Arab Republic Air Force.
-Biafra and Katanga have been added and are active for a short number of years, as historically accurate.
-The Rwandan Air Force has been added, active since 1962, with later finflash showing up since 2002.
-The Niger Air Force has been added, active since 1961, with alternative insignia in use since 1980.
-The Djibouti Air Force has been added, active since 1977, as historically accurate.
-The missing post-Yugoslavia nations, namely Montenegro and Republika Srpska, have been added.
-The missing ex-Soviet Union nations of Belarus, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan have been added.
-The Irish Air Corps has been added, with alternative decals in use since 1955.
-The People's Liberation Army Naval Air Force has been added as a separate service, active since 1953.
-The Somali Air Force is known as the Somali Aeronautical Corps before 1960, as historically correct.
-The Burkina Faso Air Force is no longer active since 1964, now it's active since 1985; it shows up as the Upper Volta Air Force before 1985.
-The Bahrain Amiri Air Force becomes the Royal Bahraini Air Force in 2002, as historically accurate.
-Created and added low-vis insignia and finflash textures for the Pakistan Air Force.
-Fixed a stock bug in SF2 with the Sultan of Oman's Air Force not being selectable since 1959, as it should be.
-Fixed a stock bug in SF2 with the Republic of China (Taiwan) Air Force not using the old roundel as it should be before 1992.
-Activated unused low-vis finflash included in stock SF2 for the Canadian Armed Forces.
-Other very small changes here and there to other stock nations.
-Added new medals for the following nations and respective services: Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Cuba, Czechoslovakia, Denmark, Egypt, East Germany, West Germany, France, Finland, Greece, Hungary, India, Iran, Iraq, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, New Zealand, North Korea, South Korea, North Vietnam, South Vietnam, Norway, Pakistan, Poland, Russia, Soviet Union, Spain, Sweden, Syria, Taiwan, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom, United States.
Modders and users are advised to tweak their _userlist.ini files and _data.ini files for aircraft and ships, to make use of the new naval aviation services added by this mod.

      >Credits (in no particular order):
-Capitaine Vengeur, for his Modern Russian Federation Medals and Modern Ukrainian Medals packs.
-Charles, for his Medals Pack v2.0 addon for SF1, which I have improved and updated to SF2 standards.
-mue, for sharing info about the functionality of the alias.lst file.
-paulopanz, for creating decals for Rwanda and Niger, which I have further tweaked.
-eburger68, for few decals I borrowed from his huge campaign mods.
I included the original readme files from the mentioned mods, where available, to the end of giving proper credit to everyone involved directly or not.

      >Disclaimer:
This is a freeware; yet it can be redistributed ONLY in other CombatACE mods/mod packages.
This mod may NOT in any way, shape or form be used in any payware additions.

Improved Afterburner Effects for Strike Fighters 2 V1.0

      -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

      Installation:

Put the .INI and .TGA files in the Effects folder.

      Then the real work begins:

Open the DATA.ini of the aircraft you want to use these effects.

Since this effect is a combination of 2 emitters, one volumetric and the other in the form of a ribbon(for shock diamonds)... You need to duplicate the engine or engines in this way:

(As exhample the F-105 is used)

    23. SA-3 Goa / S-125 Neva SAM Pack

      SF2 SA-3 Goa / S-125 Neva SAM Pack 1.0

      ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The S-125 Neva / SA-3 Goa Surface to Air Missile system was developed to supplement
the S-75 Dvina / SA-2 Guideline in Soviet and Warsaw Pact service. The SA-2 Guideline
was designed to provide medium to high altitude air defence coverage, primarily against
bomber aircraft. As such it was not well suited to the engagement of low flying targets,
especially fighter aircraft and cruise missiles. The SA-3 has shorter effective range and
lower engagement altitude than its predecessor and also flies slower but due to its two-stage
design it is more effective against more maneuverable targets. It is also able to engage
lower flying targets and being more modern it is much more resistant to ECM than the SA-2.

The system was widely exported and has been used in a number of conflicts, most notably:

      War of Attrition
      Yom Kippur War
      South African Border War
      Iran - Iraq War
      Lebanon War
      Gulf War
      Kosovo War

      ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is the first version of the complete system pack. The following variants are featured:

S-125 Neva (SA-3A, 1961) - The first Neva variant. Limited export.

Volna (SA-N-1A, 1963) - The first naval variant. Available only for SF2NA.

      Volna-M (SA-N-1B, 1967) - Improved naval variant. Available only for SF2NA.

      S-125M Neva-M (SA-3B, 1970) - The standard Neva version with significant
improvements over the first variant. Widely exported.

      Volna-P (SA-N-1B+, 1974) - Further modernization. Available only for SF2NA.

      S-125M1 Neva-M1 (SA-3B+, 1978) - Upgrade for S-125M. Many S-125M operators
received this modernization in the '80s.

      Volna-N (SA-N-1C, 1980) - Final modification. Available only for SF2NA.

      S-125-2M Pechora-2M (2006) - Modern upgrade which included anti-stealth
capability, improved performance against heavy jamming and new missiles with
      extended range.

      * Since the early 2000s a number of manufacturers have built upgraded versions of the
system to make it more attractive to operators which used the cold war versions.
These upgraded versions have different characteristics in terms of mobility, jamming
resistance, missile range etc and thus for simplicity reasons only one "basic" upgraded
      version (Pechora-2M) is included.

      --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

      New features:

      - Fire control radars have been set to their instrumented ranges

      - PRV-11 Side Net radar was added to offer early warning detection. Originally PRV-11
was a height finder radar but since we lack Low Blow, Flat Face is being used as the
fire control radar and Side Net as early warning radar

      - Launchers can perform 360 degree rotation and now all battery launchers can point
      at the target

      - More realistic missile ballistics

      - Fuze distances were increased and thus a hit is not a guaranteed kill

      - New launch effect and sound

      - Guidance was changed from Beam Rider to Semi Active Radar Homing. The basic
type of guidance for SA-3 requires target tracking in azimuth, elevation and range and
when launched, the missile flies to a pre-calculated impact point, receiving signals from
the fire control radar. This type is similar to Semi Active Radar Homing

      - Dramatically improved performance especially in low altitude

      ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things that need to be done:

      - High resolution missile skins

      - Low Blow model so that we can use the original SA-3 radar instead of Flatface

      ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

      Known issues:

      - Fire control radar can guide only one missile against a single target. Real SA-3 system
could guide two missiles against a single target.

      - Fire control radar of Pechora-2M can track only one target during each engagement.
Real Pechora-2M fire control radar could track and engage two targets at the same time.

      - Due to game engine limitations concerning the structure of enemy SAM sites,
each SA-3 site will appear with 6 launchers. Real system had 4 launchers.

      - Missiles can fly longer at low altitudes as they tend to reach the missile duration time.

      -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

      REQUIREMENTS:

You must have installed SF2 North Atlantic to use the stock missile model otherwise
you need to use the 3rd party models (included here).

      -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As always open readme.txt first to see installation instructions and credits.

Lot of research and hard work was made to make this SAM as realistic as possible.

Enjoy as much as you can this SAM and leave comments with your in-game experience
      in the support topic!

    25. RSS SA-2 Guideline Pack Beta 0.41

RED SIDE STANDARD SA-2 Guideline Pack 0.41 Beta
      ============================================

This is a public test version. Please try out equipment playing from both sides. This pack has been tested against stock planes on stock terrain. Mostly on VietnamSE due SAM site density and fast loading time :)
About 1000+ launch tests have been done on planes with various types with or without jamming equipment at low and high altitude. Ballistics have been also checked with HoneyFox's Missile Range Simulator.

      Introduction:
      -------------
To follow the philosophy behind Red Side Standard Weapons Pack (RSSW) I made an attempt to standardize the SAM systems as well. The first of such, the SA-2 Guideline or System-75 family. Using multiple reference materials (both english an russian) we tried to fine tune the effectiveness of all the weaponry for satisfactory player game experience while keeping as much realism as possible. This provides more challenge playing on the blue side.
Effectiveness for guided missiles and radars have been tuned to provide realistic hit rate within the proper launch requirements. Because of game limitations, this means some technical parameters and values may be different from real world data.
We kept as much stock reference as we could to provide compatibility with original game standard (Naming, Types, etc).
Yet, there are no new ground objects included, but many new equipment is WIP for the final version.

      Contents:
      ---------
      - The latest 3D models of the SA-2 family missiles from Spillone104 with thoroughly revised characteristics (FM, Guidance, Ballistics etc)
      - Weapon (and folder) names use common standard for convenience, clarity and simplified looks
      - Most objects use the stock TW 3D models

      Important changes:
      ------------------
      - All missiles have been changed from Beam Rider to SAHM guidance, as a work around the faulty "tail chasing" game logic also present with Rear60 IR seeking missiles. Also, "Beam Rider" guidance does not allow lead targeting of the missile.
      - All Fan Song radars have been set to their instrumented range, now it is fully up to the RCS, altitude and noise jamming values to determine the range of detection.
      - Target tracking range has been made equal to the search range - what the Fan Song can see can track immediately - launch is still limited by the missile parameters.
      - Missile Turn G and Seeker FOV has been toned down to (almost) real life data. It gives a chance to "Dance of Death" - outmaneuvering the missile in early planes. AI however will be still toast, though.
      - Now all missiles have new 3D models and new skins, thanks to Spillone104
