    1. SF2NA Ultimate Carriers Pack

      SF2NA Ultimate Carriers Pack

      This package collects a large number of aircraft carriers available at CombatAce, puts them into one package with semi-standardized data tweaks, numerous error corrections, complete SF2NA conversions, and touched up or overhauled skins. Also included are several new carriers based on existing models. This package is thus designed as an ultimate one-stop shop for all carriers available at CombatAce, exclcuding USN and Soviet carriers.

      Please note that there are no new models in this package. All models included here have been released before on CombatAce. Indeed, most (but not all) of carriers included here have been released previously with rudimentary SF2NA conversions applied.

      So, why re-release these carriers in this package? This package brings several new things to the table, including:

      - corrected DATA.INIs (basic ship data, catapult data, angled deck configuation, etc.)
      - several tweaked or significantly overhauled skins
      - indexed decal sets to represent various carrier classes
      - several newly created individual ships (usually to represent particular carriers
      at specific stages of their service lives)

      The majority of the ships here are Royal Navy carriers, though you will also find carriers from Canada, Australia, India, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, and France.

      Please read the remainder of this ReadMe carefully, as important instructions regarding installation and use are included below.

      What's Included
      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
      This package includes 34 different carriers, which are organized by carrier class or by nation (in the case of France, Italy, & Spain). Some of these carriers are set up to represent entire classes or partial classes, with decals indexed by ship number.
      Please note that you may find several different versions of the same carrier, each configured to represent the same ship at a different stage of its service life.
      There are also several fictional or "faux" carriers.
      Installation Requirements
      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

      All of the carriers included in this package are configured for use with "Strike Fighters 2: North Atlantic" (SF2NA). Thus, for any particular install you plan to use one of these carriers in...

      - SF2NA must be part of the install base (even if other SF2 titles
      such as SF2V or SF2E are also merged into the install)
      - the game .EXE you use must be either the main SF2NA executable
      (StrikeFighters2 NorthAtlantic.EXE) or a re-named copy of it in
      the case of custom mod installs.

      If you try to use these carriers in an install that does not conform to the above requirements, you will likely find your aircraft sinking into or falling through the carrier deck.

      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
      Installation
      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

      All of the files to be installed can be found in \To_Mods_Folder. The task of installing the various bits included here is fairly straightforward. For any particular install that you want to install carriers to, do the following:

      1. Install the supporting files

      Supporting files include all the files found in the following folders, which should be copied or moved to the corresponding folders in your Mods folder:

      \Effects
      \Flight
      \Objects\Guns
      \Objects\Weapons
      \Sounds

      Please note that the \Flight folder does include a new SOUNDLIST.INI. If your destination Mods folder already has a customized SOUNDLIST.INI, you can simply add the new entries from For_SOUNDLIST.txt (found in the root of this package) instead of overwriting your entire custom SOUNDLIST.INI.

      2. Add the carriers

      The carriers themselves can be found in the numbered directories (which are organized by class or nation). The carriers should be installed to \Objects\GroundObject in your Mods folder.

      DO NOT simply grab all the numbered directories and drop them in the GroundObject folder, as they won't show up in game. Instead, you will need to drag and drop the particular carrier folders from within the numbered directories.

      3. Add the decals

      For any carriers that you install you should also install the corresponding decals, found in \Objects\Decals. Decals go to the same location in your Mods folder (\Objects\Decals). The decals folders for carriers are named the same as the corresponding carrier that uses them. Please note that there are a few carriers that do not have decals.

      4. Install the LODs for Hermes & Viraat

      We were not able to include the LOD files needed for the HMS Hermes ('80s) and the INS Viraat (which uses the same model as the Hermes). You will need to download the "Falklands '82 for SF2" package from CombatAce, which includes the necessary LODs:

      http://combatace.com/files/file/13296-sf2-falklands-mod-redux/

      When the download is unpacked, you can find the ncessary LOD files in this location:

      \_For_SF2NA\Objects\GroundObject\Hermes

      Copy the .LOD files to the folders for the the Hermes and Viraat, which are included in the \1c_Centaur_Class directory of this carrier pack.

      Once the LODs are installed, make a COPY of the R12-R2b.LOD in each folder and rename it to R12-R2b_COL.LOD (this is the collision LOD for the ship).

      * * *

      That's it. You should be good to go.

      If any carriers are not showing up properly in the game, that's because you didn't install them correctly. My advice will always be to review the steps above, consult the Knowlede Base at CombatAce.com for the relevant articles on installing mods to Mod folders, and try again.

      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
      Notes
      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

      A few notes about the carriers included in this pack.

      1. Decal problems: many of the models included in this pack suffer from decal problems -- decal bleeding, mirroring, doubling, and occasional distortion. Although I have tried to minimize these problems as much as possible, you might see decals being inappropriately mirrored, often in a distorted fashion, in odd locations on some of these boats. Also, to minimize problems, I have occasionally positioned decals slightly forward or aft (or above or below) where they ideally ought to be.

      2. Texture mapping problems: some of these models also suffer from texture mapping issues, which means that sometimes things just quite don't line up properly or aren't perfectly mirrored from one side of the boat to the other (because the texture map is effectively wrapped around the model in an odd fashion).

      3. BPC Mistral: included in this package is an alternate skin for the BPC Mistral named FNGrey. I would have liked to make it the default, but discovered that the bridge area of this carrier is simply not mapped -- meaning that part of the island will always remain the default light blue. Also, decals will not show up properly on large parts of the hull, which means that I haven't been able to use them for the hull numbers of the three ships in this class. Thus, we're stuck the painted-on hull numbers for the lead ship of the class.

      4. R91 de Gaulle: the model for this carrier is very poly heavy (I'm guessing because of the static aircraft and deck crew included). On some PCs game performance and frame rates might lag severely. As with the Mistral (from the same author), some parts of the model simply aren't mapped, which has limited what I've been able to do with the skin.

      Finally, it's worth pointing out that many of the models included in this package date from 2004-2006. The oldest are seven or eight years old -- created during the first few years of the ThirdWire series. Although they still stand up fairly well, they are showing their age. Carriers (and ships more generally) seem to be some of their more difficult jobs that modelers can tackle in the ThirdWire series (along with cockpits), so we should be thankful that we have the models we do.

    2. CVN Ulyanovsk

      CVN Ulyanovsk

      by

      Julhelm

      This model represents the Soviet Project 1143.7 CVN Ulyanovsk, as it probably would have appeared had the project had been carried through to completion.

      I won't go into the actual history of the ship, as it's just as easy for anyone so inclined to perform an online search and dig up all the relevant details on the vessel.

      This model was designed and optimized for SF2:NA, and that means Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8. At the very least it requires the latest SF2 series patch for its systems and DX10 visual effects to work properly.
      To install this package, simply place the folders located inside the .RAR archive into the mod folder of whichever SF2 title you desire the ship to appear in.

      Additional work may be required on your part to ensure that the ship's TEWS RWR symbol (SkyWatch) is added to the RWR list of any aircraft so equipped. Instructions on how to do this, can be found on the SF2 knowledge base, courtesy of EricJ:
      http://combatace.com/topic/44441-making-a-custom-tga-for-tews-radar-warning-recievers/

      Sound effects will also require editing of the soundlist.ini file in order to work.

      I’ve included a modified soundlist.ini file, for those who do not have it extracted.

      Warning: Be careful if you already have an existing custom soundlist.ini file, as it will be overwritten. In that case, simply add the following lines (shown below), taking care to follow the existing numbering sequence (the soundlist.ini will reside in your flight folder). Use the supplied soundlist.ini as a guide.
      SoundFileXXX=Underway
      SoundFileXXX=ReductionGear

      InsideConeAngle=360
      OutsideConeAngle=360
      ConeOutsideVolume=100

      Known issues:

      1) The supplied SA-N-11 Kortik SAMs are not precisely scaled, so they were placed in the center of each Kashtan's missile tube cluster. They also do not have a defined booster stage in their model file, so don't expect booster separation. Also, the actual SA-N-11 is guided by an optical tracking system in real life. Again, this is not supported by the series, so they were given high counter-measure rejection and probability of intercept values, to compensate.

      2) As of the present date (October 7 2012) Third Wire does not support a PROPER VLS system on a vessel that's also equipped with mutiple SAM types, on slewable mounts. To put it simply, one can have a working VLS system and nothing else, or one can have working Kashtans. I chose the latter option, though the nodes and missiles are supplied if this situation were to change in the future.

      3) Third Wire has not made provisions for a working "ski-jump", so virtual bow catapults are used instead, and aircraft thus launched will appear to fly through the bow ramp.

    4. Essex class (long-hull) aircraft carrier

      This model represents the long-hull straight-deck Essex class aircraft carriers, beginning with CV-14 USS Ticonderoga circa 1944. These ships were about 5 meters longer than the original CV-9 Essex, and featured heavier anti-aircraft armament.

      Two versions of the ship are included: The original WW2 configuration, and the jet-capable Korean War era modernization. Decals for each unit are included. Random aircraft parking has been designed for currently available models with folding wings.

      In addition to its complement of aircraft, each ship is armed with a battery of twin 5" guns and single 5" guns, plus a vast number of 40mm Bofors and 20mm Oerlikon anti-aircraft guns.

      Please see the readme for full details and credits. Because this is a very high-poly, high-definition model, instructions are also included to improve framerate for those of us without premium supercomputers.

      This model is dedicated to Wrench, who requested it, and who provides us with great playgrounds for all our toys.

    5. DDG-79 Arleigh Burke class Aegis destroyer (Flight IIA)

      This model represents the Arleigh Burke class destroyers Flight IIA (DDG-79~DDG-88) and Flight IIA+ (DDG-89~112), in service from 2000 to present. They are among the largest and most heavily armed destroyers in the world. This package is intended as a companion piece to my original Flight I Arleigh Burkes, thus completing the entire class of ships.

      As with my previous Aegis vessels, I've included name and hull number decals for each ship of the class, plus the necessary sounds, guns, and weapons. An optional data file allowing multiple simultaneous engagements is included. See the readme file for full details.

      See the readme for full details. If you have any questions, comments, concerns, or constructive criticisms regarding this model, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you!

    8. Ticonderoga class cruiser superpack

      This package includes every variant of the Ticonderoga class Aegis cruisers, including:
      CG-47 Baseline 1 (Mk26 twin arm launcher)
      CG-52 Baseline 2 (Mk41 VLS)
      CG-59 Baseline 3&4 (improved sensors and weapons)
      CG-52_06 (first round of modernization refits circa 2006)
      CG-52_12 (final Cruiser Conversion Program refits, starting 2012)

      Naturally, all sounds, decals, weapons, ship name and number lists are included. The CG-52 and CG-59 variants are further divided into air defense and land attack versions, armed with Standard Missiles and Tomahawks respectively. Each of the air defense ships also comes with two different data.ini files: the default, which uses a true VLS weapon system (albeit one missile and one target at a time and disables the Harpoon missiles), and a data_EX.ini version, which enables multiple simultaneous engagements and is almost as deadly as its real life counterpart. Use whichever one you like, depending on if you prefer realistic visuals or realistic performance.

      The Ticonderoga has always been my "flagship" project (pun intended), and so I've updated the models using everything I've learned in the year since I started modding. I've also added a small Easter Egg for those of you who want to try a helicopter takeoff from from this ship.

      Note: The weapon systems, collision mesh, and decals have been updated for compatibility with SF2: North Atlantic and the March 2012 patch. If you have not installed/do not plan to install either, this model will not work properly. See the readme file for full details.

    9. CV HMS Victorious, R38 by Hinchbrooke for SF2

      HMS Victorious (R38) Aircraft Carrier by Hinchbrooke

      = For SF2, Any and All =

      This is the aircraft carrier HMS Victorious as she appeared "post 1950s refit" until her retirement in the late 1960s. Originally released for 1stGens way back in 2005 and subsequently "lost" in the ether. Prompted by one of the CA members into looking for it, I scrounged through all my archive CDs (dating back to 2004) and actually located it. This will give our Fleet Air Arm guys someplace new to land on!

      Some very small tweeks for SF2 (mostly to the radar statments for TEWS -but as she 'retired' in 1969, that's a bit moot).
      As CVs are 'unvulnerable' in-game, her defensive armament is minimal (the same 2 guns that Hinch put on way back when), and mostly for show.

      Also included, just for fun, are 2 missions set on the Desert map, using my SF2 mod of Skippybing's Sea Vixen. One is a take off, the other is landing. End Users ™ can always change the aircraft and 'mission date' to fit whatever aircraft pleases you. They are edits of the stock SF2 carrier take off/landing missions, moved to a
      different map and using Royal Navy equipment.

      As always, READ the enclosed readme for fully detailed, easy-to-follow install instructions. Hinch's original readme is included, for historical reference purposes.
      With thanks to Hinch for creating this, so long ago!

      Enjoy!

    11. Sovremenny class destroyer

      This model represents the Sovremenny class destroyer, the primary anti-surface warship of the Russian Navy. The Sovremenny is very heavily armed, with two twin-barrel 130mm automatic guns, eight Moskit missiles (SS-N-22 Sunburn), one of the fastest and most feared anti-ship missiles in the world, two launchers for Shtil SAMs (SA-N-7 Gadfly or SA-N-12 Grizzly), four AK-630 CIWS, four heavy ASW torpedoes, two ASW rocket launchers, and decoy rocket launchers.

      Three different versions of the ship are provided:
      Sovremenny class destroyer: Project 956, the original version of the ship. Armed with Sunburn and Gadfly missiles.
      Sovremenny (99) class destroyer: Project 956A, an improved version with updated radar, modernized Sunburns, and Grizzly missiles.
      Hangzhou class destroyer: Project 956E, export version sold to China. Currently in service with the PLAN.

      (An additional variant, Project 956EM, was sold to China. This version is quite different, with the aft 130mm gun removed, hangar lengthened, and CIWS replaced with two Kashtan systems. Only two exist, so I didn't include them. I may release this version if there is sufficient demand for it.)

      In any of its variants, the Sovremenny is a dangerous opponent and will make naval strike missions significantly more difficult.

      See the readme for full details. If you have any questions, comments, concerns, or constructive criticisms regarding this model, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you!

    12. Iowa class battleship update

      This is a full conversion of the ID(io)T Team's Iowa class battleship for SF2:NA/April 2012. Along with the expected effects, weapons, ship names, and collisions modifications, I rearranged the entire system hierarchy which fixed a critical issue causing the ship to sink after only a single missile strike. (It's now almost as tough as the real thing.) Tomahawk launchers are also fully functional and deadlier than ever. In addition, the aft deck now supports up to two helicopters. Keep in mind that there are no catapults or arresting wires, so fly with care.

      This is a complete package with all the guns, sounds, and effects. Even if you have the model already or are using the version included in DS, I humbly recommend that you try out this fully updated version.

      All credit for this model goes to the ID(io)T Team. Thanks for giving us such a magnificent battleship.

    15. Kirov class battlecruiser (1988 and 1998)

      This package contains the third and fourth ships of the Kirov class battlecruisers: Admiral Nakhimov (ex-Kalinin) in commission since 1988, and Pyotr Velikiy (ex-Yury Andropov), in commission since 1998. The Kirov class are currently the world's only nuclear powered surface combatants and the most heavily armed warships in service today.

      With layered air defense systems, four different SAM types, and six twin gatling CIWS, these vessels are fearsome opponents. Be warned that once installed, these vessels will begin appearing in Soviet battlegroups and significantly increase the challenge level. Note that the Shipwreck anti-ship missiles are not yet functional due to game engine limitations.

      Each ship has two different hull numbers and decal sets representing their service before and after the fall of the Soviet Union, including authentic Russian language name stencils. As a bonus, additional materials are included to create a modern "friendly" Russian military if you have not done so already.

      These ships are also equipped with a functional helicopter deck, but no fake arresting wires are included, so fly with care.

    16. DDG-173 Kongo class Aegis destroyer

      This model represents the Kongo class destroyers (DDG-173~DDG-176), in service with the JMSDF from 1993 to present. They are based on the Arleigh Burke class, with a significantly longer hull, higher superstructure, and indigenous Japanese systems. The Kongo and successor Atago (coming soon to SF2) are the most advanced and powerful warships in Asia and among the largest destroyers in the world.

      This model has been almost completely rebuilt and retextured compared to my previous version (3.7), and like the real thing she can now lead JMSDF task groups comprised of the Takanami, Murasame, Asagiri, and Hatsuyuki. As with my other vessels, I have included authentic name and hull number decals for each ship of the class, plus the necessary sounds, guns, and weapons. See the readme file for full details.

      An experimental data file is included, labelled "DDG-173_EX.ini" (The "EX" stands for "experimental" as well as "extremely dangerous.") This sacrifices the cool-looking vertical launch for a significantly more accurate multi-target system that better reflects the actual performance of an Aegis destroyer. Use whichever you prefer, depending on if realistic visuals or realistic performance is more important to you. An optional assisted takeoff mode for helicopters is also included on the flight deck.

      If you have any questions, comments, concerns, or constructive criticisms regarding this model, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you!

    17. Carrier Deck Illumination

      Carrier Deck Illumination Beta 1.0

      Effects and .ini work: MiGbuster and Fubar512
      Placement: MiGbuster
      Technical Consultant: SidDogg

      This mod DOES NOT contain the carrier models. It requires that you have Sf2V and/or SF2NA, and preferably both, installed on your system. The SCB-125 and CVA-63 models are native to SF2V. They are also included in SF2NA, which adds the CVN-68. We have included files for all three types.

      To install: Simply drag the contents of the zip file, which are the two folders, "effects and groundobject", into the mod (saved games) folder of the desired title. For example, using SF2NA, the default path would be "YOUR NAME/Saved Games/Thirdwire/StrikeFighters2NorthAtlantic"

      Note that this is a Beta, a work in progress, and as such, it is not perfect. Deck illumination is on all the time. The Optical Landing System is not-functional. These are currently due to the limitations of the series.

    18. DDG-51 Arleigh Burke class Aegis destroyer (Flight I & II)

      This model represents the Arleigh Burke class destroyers Flight I (DDG-51~DDG-71) and Flight II (DDG-72~78), in service from 1991 to present (upgrades and refits notwithstanding). They are among the largest and most heavily armed destroyers in the world.

      As with my previous Aegis vessels, two different versions are included (air defense and land attack), as well as name and hull number decals for each ship of the class, plus the necessary sounds, guns, and weapons. An optional data file allowing multiple simultaneous engagements is included. See the readme file for full details.

      Note: The weapon systems, collision mesh, and decals have been updated for compatibility with SF2: North Atlantic and the March 2012 patch. If you have not installed/do not plan to install either, this model will not work properly.

      When setting up a task force, using the USNgrey texture will allow hull decals based on the ship number. This is bugged in single missions (as the ship number can't be changed in the mission editor), so select a specific texture set with the hull number you want.

    19. CGN-25 USS Bainbridge

      This model represents the USS Bainbridge, the only ship of her class, in service from 1962 to 1996. She is based on the Leahy class missile cruiser, but modified to use nuclear power.

      This package contains three versions of the Bainbridge, separated into the major refits the class underwent during its service life:
      As built in 1962: Equipped with Terrier missiles and two 3" twin turrets
      AAW refit circa 1976: Terriers replaced with SM-1ER, 3" guns replaced with Harpoon launchers, electronics updated to support new missiles
      NTU refit circa 1985: New radars, added Phalanx CIWS, SM-1ER replaced with SM-2ER

      Each version has its own names.ini list, so each variant will appear in task forces in the correct era.

      Each version of the ship is substantially different in their anti-air and anti-missile capability, which I have attempted to simulate as best as I can. The Harpoons on the AAW and NTU version are fully functional. SRBOC launchers (as on my other USN ships) are included on the model but disabled by default for simplicity's sake.

      Note: The weapon systems, collision mesh, and decals have been updated for compatibility with SF2: North Atlantic and the March 2012 patch. If you have not installed/do not plan to install either, this model will not work properly.

    20. Kresta II Version 1.0

      Kresta II Class Cruiser

      by

      Julhelm

      This model represents the Soviet Project 1134A Kresta II class anti-submarine cruiser, which served with the Soviet and Russian Fleets from the late 1960s into the early 1990s.

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kresta_II_class_cruiser

      This model was designed and optimized for SF2:NA, and that means Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8. At the very least it requires the latest SF2 series patch for its systems and DX10 visual effects to work properly.
      To install this package, simply place the folders located inside the .ZIP archive into the mod folder of whichever SF2 title you desire the ship to appear in.

      Additional work will be required on your part to ensure that the ship's TEWS RWR symbol (TopSail) is added to the RWR list of any aircraft so equipped. Instructions on how to do this, can be found on the SF2 knowledge base, courtesy of EricJ:
      http://combatace.com/topic/44441-making-a-custom-tga-for-tews-radar-warning-recievers/

      The SA-N-3 model that’s included, is a high-poly version, that will replace the default Third Wire version. It does not adversely effect frame rates, and will work well on the SF2:NA Kiev model, as well.

      The supplied sound effects will require editing of the soundlist.ini file in order to work.

      Known issues:

      1) The main radar antenna (Top Sail) doesn’t have a double-sided mesh, so as it rotates, you will notice that the face of the antenna loses its “grid”. This will be rectified in a later release, when the developer manages to catch a break from his busy schedule.

    21. ID(io)T Team Iowa Class Battleship 80s

      ID(io)T Team Iowa Class Battleship 80s for Strike Fighters 2

      History:

      In the 1980s, as part of President Ronald Reagan's plan to rebuild the U.S. military and create a 600-ship Navy—which would counter the new Soviet Kirov class battlecruisers—all four of the battleships were reactivated and modernized under the 600-ship Navy program.each battleship was overhauled to burn navy distillate fuel and modernized to carry electronic warfare suites, close-in weapon systems (CIWS) for self-defense, and missiles.After recommissioning, the modernized battleships operated as centerpieces of their own battleship battle groups (BBBGs), consisting of one Ticonderoga-class cruiser, one Kidd-class destroyer or Arleigh Burke-class destroyer, one Spruance-class destroyer, three Oliver Hazard Perry-class frigates and one support ship, such as a fleet oiler.
      During their modernization in the 1980s each Iowa-class battleship was equipped with four of the US Navy's Phalanx CIWS mounts, two of which sat just behind the bridge and two which were next to the after ship's funnel. Iowa, New Jersey, and Missouri were equipped with the Block 0 version of the Phalanx, while Wisconsin received the first operational Block 1 version in 1988.[70] The Phalanx system is intended to serve as a last line of defense against enemy missiles and aircraft, and when activated can engage a target with a 20 mm M61 Vulcan 6-barreled gatling cannon at a distance of approximately 3.6 km (2.2 mi).
      A close-up look at an Armored Box Launcher unit, this one aboard USS New Jersey As part of their modernization in the 1980s, each of the Iowa-class battleships received a complement of Armored Box Launchers and "shock hardened" Mk. 141 quad cell launchers. The former was used by the battleships to carry and fire the BGM-109 Tomahawk Land Attack Missiles (TLAMs) for use against enemy targets on land, while the latter system enabled the ships to carry a complement of RGM-84 Harpoon anti-ship missiles for use against enemy ships. With an estimated range of 675 nautical miles (1,250 km; 777 mi) to 1,500 nautical miles (2,800 km; 1,700 mi) for the Tomahawk missile and 64.5 nautical miles (119.5 km; 74.2 mi) to 85.5 nautical miles (158.3 km; 98.4 mi) for the Harpoon missile system, these two missile systems displaced the sixteen-inch guns and their maximum range of 42,345 yards (38,720 m) (24.06 mi)[28] to become the longest-ranged weapons on the battleships during the 1980s. It has been alleged by some[73][74][75] that the battleships carried the TLAM-A (also cited, incorrectly, as the TLAM-N)—a Tomahawk missile with a W80 nuclear warhead—during their 1980s service with the United States Navy, but owing to the United States Navy's policy of refusing to confirm or deny the presence of nuclear weaponry aboard its ships, these claims can not be conclusively proved.
      During the 1980s these battleships made use of the RQ-2 Pioneer, an unmanned aerial vehicle employed in spotting for the guns. Launched from the fantail using a rocket-assist booster that was discarded shortly after takeoff, the Pioneer carried a video camera in a pod under the belly of the aircraft which transmitted live video to the ship so operators could observe enemy actions or fall of shot during naval gunnery. To land the UAV a large net was deployed at the back of the ship the aircraft was flown into it. Missouri and Wisconsin both used the Pioneer UAVs successfully during Operation Desert Storm.

      USS Iowa (BB-61)

      Reactivated in the early 1980s, Iowa operated in the Atlantic Fleet, cruising in North American and European waters for most of the decade and participating in joint military exercises with European ships. On 19 April 1989, 47 sailors were killed following an explosion in her No. 2 turret. In 1990, Iowa was decommissioned for the last time and placed in the mothball fleet. She was stricken from the Naval Vessel Register on 17 March 2006. Iowa is currently anchored as part of the National Defense Reserve Fleet in Suisun Bay, California and is available for donation as a museum and memorial.

      USS New Jersey (BB-62)

      Reactivated in 1982 under the 600-ship Navy program, New Jersey was sent to Lebanon to protect U.S. interests and U.S. Marines, firing her main guns at Druze and Syrian positions in the Beqaa Valley east of Beirut. Decommissioned for the last time 8 February 1991, New Jersey was briefly retained on the Naval Vessel Register before being donated to the Home Port Alliance of Camden, New Jersey for use as a museum ship in October 2001

      USS Missouri (BB-63)

      Reactivated in 1984 as part of the 600-ship Navy plan, Missouri was sent on operational cruises until being assigned to Operation Earnest Will in 1988. In 1991, Missouri participated in Operation Desert Storm, firing 28 Tomahawk Missiles and 759 sixteen-inch (406 mm) shells at Iraqi targets along the coast. Decommissioned for the last time in 1992, Missouri was donated to the USS Missouri Memorial Association of Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, for use as a museum ship in 1999.

      USS Wisconsin (BB-64)

      reactivated in 1986 as part of the 600-ship Navy plan. In 1991, Wisconsin participated in Operation Desert Storm, firing 24 Tomahawk Missiles at Iraqi targets, and expending 319 16-inch (406 mm) shells at Iraqi troop formations along the coast. Decommissioned for the last time 30 September 1991, Wisconsin was placed in the reserve fleet until struck from the Naval Vessel Register on 17 March 2006 so she could be transferred for use as a museum ship. Wisconsin is currently berthed at the Nauticus maritime museum in Norfolk, Virginia.

    23. LHA mod for stock SF2NA version

      *************************************************************************
      ***** LHA Mod For Strike Fighters NA *****
      *************************************************************************

      This is a mod to make the stock LHA from SF North Atlantic usable as an aircraft
      carrier.

      You must have SF North Atlantic for this to do anything for you.

      *************************************************************************
      ***** Installation *****
      *************************************************************************

      Drop the contents of the "LHA" folder into the top level of your mod folder.

      If you choose to, drop the contents of "Optional_Files" into the top level of
      your mod folder as well. Details below...

      *************************************************************************
      ***** Notes *****
      *************************************************************************

      For single missions and parked aircraft to work properly:

      - A terrain with limited nations needs to have "USMC" as a FriendlyNation in
      it's nations file. A modified ICELANDNA_NATIONS.INI is included

      - If you're using Battle Groups in user-made missions, make sure the group's
      nation is set to "USMC"

      - For parked aircraft to show up, they must be "USMC" and have
      "CarrierBased=TRUE" and "CarrierParkSpan=2.00" in their _data.ini. A
      modified version of AV-8A_DATA.INI for Wrench's AV-8A is included.

      - The first catapult has no effect, and requires you to use thrust vectoring
      to take off. This also means your flight as to be limited to a max of 4,
      or the 5th aircraft will crash on takeoff.

      - AI aircraft don't use thrust vectoring to land, and must land with a fake
      arrestor hook to come aboard. One is included in the modified
      AV-8A_DATA.INI.

      - This was tested with Wrench's AV-8A, and the _data.ini included

      *************************************************************************
      ***** Bugs *****
      *************************************************************************

      Non-STOVL, USMC aircraft, sometimes have the LHA defined as their home base, in
      single missions. Setting "CarrierBaseSize=SMALL" for the LHA and
      "MinBaseSize=MEDIUM" for the aircraft, does not prevent this. Maybe this is
      something TK will fix for us.

    24. CG-16 Leahy class cruiser

      This model represents the Leahy class, in service from 1962 to 1995. The Leahy class was dedicated missile cruiser, equipped with fore and aft twin SAM launchers, and primarily tasked with defending fleet elements.

      This package contains three versions of the Leahy, separated into the major refits the class underwent during its service life:
      As built in 1962: Equipped with Terrier missiles and two 3" twin turrets
      AAW refit circa 1968: Terriers replaced with SM-1ER, electronics updated to support new missiles
      NTU refit circa 1988: New radars, 3" guns replaced with Harpoon launchers and Phalanx CIWS, SM-1ER replaced with SM-2ER

      Each version has its own names.ini list, so each variant will appear in task forces in the correct era. Each version of the ship is substantially different in their anti-air and anti-missile capability, which I have attempted to simulate as best as I can. The Harpoons on the NTU version are fully functional.

      When setting up a task force, using the USNgrey texture will allow hull decals based on the ship number. If placing the model as a single ship instead of a task force, please use the different texture sets to get a specific hull number.

      If you have any questions, comments, concerns, or constructive criticisms regarding this model, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you!

    25. Admiral Kuznetzov

      This is a mod/repaint of Hinchinbrooke's excellent HMS Vindictive, representing the Russian Navy's Admiral Kuznetzov.

      This mod is compatible with any and all versions of SF2, merged or otherwise. It should also work in any Series 1 title, but please note this has NOT been tested.

      Thanks to Hinchinbrooke, without who's mod this would not have been possible.
