The Ki-84 proved faster than the P-51D Mustang and the P-47D Thunderbolt at all but the highest altitudes. At medium altitudes, the FRANK was so fast that it was essentially immune from interception. The climb rate was exceptionally good, 16,400 feet being attained in 5 minutes 54 seconds, which was superior to that of any opposing Allied fighters.

Thanks for downloading (and for taking the time to read this file). The main features of this campaign mod:
 
1) Adds 13 new DGen operations and 4 new DGen careers for the Pacific Theater
 
2) Order of Battle extensively researched to put the right planes and squadrons in the campaign.
 
3) Ops file is based, as much as possible, on the mission reports and pilot accounts of actual air engagements that
 
occurred during the various campaigns.
 
4) Planes, ships, AAA, artillery, and everything else is placed in as accurate position as possible based on my research
 
and map/game limitations [Note, ships setups have been designed to provide most realistic experience with reload time at
 
5.0; I higher reload time could help if you are experiencing low fps around ships; a lower reload time would be good if
 
you just really, really, want to relive Torpedo 8's mission every time you fly an anti-shipping strike].

Enhancements
1. Changed Rufe Tulagi campaign to pre-Guadalcanal bomber intercept campaign (as is historical)
2. Guadalcanal Invasion campaign improved (Japanese template, correct OB, correct skins)
3. Edited most carrier campaigns to reduce as much as possible the "30 mile final" (because of how DGen does carrier and antishipping missions, this is problem cannot be eliminated completely).
4. Added USMC campaign covering the defense of Wake Island before the Hiryu/Soryu carrier strike
5. Added Eastern Solomons campaign (correct air OB, task forces forces semi-historical, based on default Santa Cruz template)
6. D3A1s and sBD-3s have correct skins in Santa Cruz
7. A6M2-21s and D3A1s have green skins in Marianas
8. Reduced air OB numbers in .dat files 50% across the board (allows the player to have slightly more influence on the campaigns, and brings air OBs in line with ground and ship unit density)
9. Ar-196A3 (as a stand in for the E13A2) added to campaigns featuring IJN cruisers/battleships as appropriate

Morioka flied "VAL"divebombers, until 1944 he became a Zero pilot.

This skin represents the colorful mount of 9/JG 3 pilot Alfred Sarau in fall of 1943, as it would appear just before a mission. This plane represents a fairly early G-6 model. It carries a simplified camouflage splinter of RLM 74 gray-green, RLM 75 violet gray over RLM 76 Blue. It carries the FuG 16 zy antenna mounted under the fuselage, rather than out on the wing as seen in many later examples. It is also equipped with the FuG 25a antenna just under the cockpit.

Historical Messerschmitt Bf 109G-2,"MT-212 (W.Nr.14753, RJ+SW)",of 1./LeLv34 Piloted by Adjutant Oiva Emil Kalervo Tuominen.June 1943. With this plane Finnish fighter ace No.1 Eino Juutilainen (94 1/6 victories) shot down 24.3.43. a Soviet Pe-2 over Gulf of Finland. On June 2 1943 Tuominen had to make a forced landing in the Gulf of Finland after a dogfight. Tuominen ended the war with 44 victories, 8 of these were claimed during The Winter War.

My very first mission, a single mission depicting the use of a Brewster Buffalo as a nightfighter over Singapore Island, based on historical use of two Buffalos as nightfighters. Skin included. Try to intercept and destroy the attacking Bettys. Happy Hunting!

Short Bong
 
Short Bong is a much shorter version of the America's Ace of Aces campaign. It is made for all of you who cannot spend the time that the real Dick Bong spent flying on his successful missions. This campaign is the same as America's Ace of Aces except you start out near the action. In the realism options choose instant success if you don't have the time to fly back to base.
 
Some time when you have the time try and play the full version of America's Ace of Aces. It's a real challenge and has some surprises I couldn't add in this short version.
 
Just over the Wisconsin border from Illinois is the most stolen sign in America. It reads "Bong Recreation Area".
 
99% of the people you ask will have no idea who or what the area is named after. It's a shame that the greatest fighter pilot America has ever produced is all but forgotten and his name has become a joke.
 
This is just my attempt to educate a small number of you as to the life and times of Richard Ira Bong, America's Ace of Aces. His record 40 kills in the Pacific Theater will never be surpassed. This unlikely farm boy from Poplar Wisconsin became a super star and then faded into the history books. He deserves more than just his 15 minutes of fame.
 
I have recreated all of Bong's successful missions. I have tried to recreate as accurately as possible the circumstances faced by Dick Bong in his 2 year onslaught of the Japanese armed forces. I have had to use different maps because many of the areas that Bong fought in are not represented in the game yet. Areas such as Northern New Guinea, Rabal, Borneo, the Philippine Islands of Negros, Mindoro and Leyte have not been modeled yet. I have found very similar areas on other maps that fit the bill however. By using the southern part of New Guinea I was able to recreate the Lae area farther to the north; by using the Singapore map I could recreate similar conditions to the Philippine islands etc. I think you will get the feel of the historical area and conditions.
 
There are a few fun missions. One where you take off at night and try and get Washing Machine Charlie as Bong tried to do a few times... Another where you get into a dogfight in a SBD against a float plane... One where you have a mock dog fight with a P47 as Bong did while on leave... and the last one where you try and complete the only mission that Dick Bong could not.
 
I wish to apologize for the racial epithets used to describe the Japanese race. This was the language of the times and the quotes are verbatim. I'm sorry if they cause any discomfort. I do not mean to offend, just to be historically accurate with my quotes.
 
If Put the plane on autopilot and you will encounter all the bogies that Dick Bong shot down.
 
The skins mentioned are not included in this version. If you want to use them they are included in America's Ace of Aces campaign only and you can download them there.

HE111H-3 of KG53 based at Lille France September 1940.Theres two different versions of this aircraft ,Weathered & Unweathered each version has ------Marked-----Marked without swastika-----Unmarked. six skins in total.....Screenshot shows weathered version. Due to the mapping of one wing to skin i could`nt put any codes on the bottom of the wings as one turns out ok the other turns out backwards same with the 3 white lines on the wing theres only supposed to be one set on the starboard wing . FW190A4 of SG2 or SG10 Tunisia early 1943 W.Nr. 611. This aircraft was apparantly re-painted & kept the rlm 76 undersurfaces & lower rudder whilst the fusalage was over sprayed in rlm78, the fusalage german cross was also oversprayed with rlm 78.--- RLM/79/78/76. Theres two versions of this aircraft Weathered & Unweathered each version has a Marked, unmarked, & Marked without swastika, 6 skins in total, I used jesters excellent template (Many Thanks) , Bright finished..........Buglord.
