  1. "Waterworld" Terrain

    "Waterworld" Terrain for SF2

    Full-4 Merged (Reccomened) and/or SF2:V

Just a bit of silliness. I was asked to create a 'quick and dirty' mostly ocean terrain by Fubar512, so he could test some ship mods. This is it. Just a little something fun, and slightly different. Yes, there are Easter Eggs. In fact, the WHOLE map is an Easter Egg!

This terrain contains 2 land-airfields (one for each side) and 6 CV stations; 3 each for Blue and Red. I made use of the "Allowed Missions" statement, so you won't be seeing any CAS or Armed Recons (with no place to drive too...well, you get the idea). Plenty of shipping routes, however.

No tiles (excepting one special, and one for use with GH3) are included with this, but it uses the VietnamSEA tile set, as pointed to via the 'use this cat' statement in the terrain's main ini. If one wished to, you can easily just drop Stary's GH3 set, or any other Vietnam-named tiles directly into the terrain folder. Once the terrain has it's own internal tileset, you can use any cat pointer =EXCEPT= the IsrealME.cat.

The cities on the map have the minimal amounts of targets possible ... this is more for those liking to keep their feet wet. Also, you might just want to consider this terrain a "myth-mash" (see notes below). Bonus point awarded to ID the source of several of the place names.

As always, unzip this to a temp folder or your desktop, and you'll have access to the rest of the readme for it's instructions. It's reccomended you read the document through after unzipping before installing. As always, the Notes and Other Nonesense section may make for entertaining reading.

    Happy Swimming!

  2. Afghanistan Terrain (Modern -2003 & Later)

    Afghanistan (Modern - 2003 & Later) Terrain

    == For SF2, Full-4 Merged -ONLY- (and/or SF2:I) ==

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS are SF2 and SF2:I, as it uses the IsraelME tileset -- the
tiles are NOT included. However, during the rebuild process I did test it with
Stary's enhanced IME tile set. Several new tiles have been added for his specific
tile set. They ARE included. But DO NOT USE THEM if using the STOCK IME tiles --
there are 'matching tiles' for the stock set, already set up to be used. See the
"To Install" for more information. (meaning: right now, it's pointing to the IsraelME.cat)

This is a small update/upgrade of Gepard's Afghanistan terrain, bringing it more
up-to-date "Modernish", with regards to Allied Operations against the Taliban and
other various Bad Guys ™. All airfields have been replaced with 'stock', more
Western/NATO looking, as (re)constructed by Western Forces after their arrival in-theatre.
(unfortunately, when matching the airfiled types to 'real world' types, you now
lose the ability to base aircraft needing the LARGE Runway 4 - B-52s, B-1s, etc)

You =MUST= have the Gepard's original terrain to install this to. You can

download it from the following URL:

    http://combatace.com/files/file/10404-afghanistan-terrain-version-10/

It will be needed for the various theatre-specific GroundObjects, and Nation.ini
    modifications.

It should also be noted, that EricJ's 'enhanced targets' ini is NOT incorporated
into this mod. Due to changes in the types of runways used now, that mod is,
unfortunately, NO LONGER COMPATIBLE with this one.

The "LimitedNations" and "AllowedMissonTypes" statements have been edited to more
    reflect the 2003 and later timeframe (I'm sure a left out a NATO component or 2;
please feel free to add whichever country I've missed! And let me know which
    ones!)

Remember -- this is just a small, minor overhauling. No real major changes.

    Good Hunting!
    Wrench
    Kevin Stein

Special Thanks to EricJ, who asked for this upgrade, and his invaluable assistance. And to all our Fighting Forces in the far-flung regions of the world.

  3. Afghanistan Terrain New Targets v1.0 SF2

Specifically for the Afghanistan terrain version done by Wrench, this adds yet more targets and CAS areas on the map. Simply overwrite and go fly.

  4. Alaska, Bering Strait (1955-2018)

    Alaska, Bering Strait (1955-2018) Terrain
    April 13th, 2017 (1st Release)
    by Menrva

    >For Strike Fighters 2: Europe, Recommended Full-5 Merged
This is a complete remake of the DBS terrain made by Major Lee and further tweaked by Wrench.
Wrench kindly allowed me to improve upon his work; the entire map has been retargetized and retiled using a whole new tileset, combining tiles from Brain32 and Stary. Some water bodies, lakes and rivers have been hand-tiled. Most of the terrain has been hand-tiled to a great extent. Numerous target areas have been added in order to expand playability, targets of opportunity and year span.
This terrain features a fresh new 250m resolution heightmap (instead of the stock 500m resolution), allowing for greater details and precision in elevation changes; overall it provides the whole terrain with a better look.
The terrain spans from June 22, 1955 (the date of the first known Cold War incident in the Bering Straits between the U.S. and the Soviets) to December 31, 2018.
I didn't bother to add all of the possible RL airports. However, when compared to the original DBS terrain, this one has a lot more to offer, especially on the Blue Side. The Soviets (Red Side) only have two flyable airfields. Don't even try to fly Red Side long-range bombers from said small airfields. Reason for this is that the original DBS terrain was rather fictional and included airbases which in reality didn't and don't exist. I made major researches and what I am providing here is a realistic representation of the area, given the terrain engine limitations. Anyway, I added some Off Map Airbases for both Blue Side and Red Side; if you have SF2NA, you can benefit from this addition, as long range AI flights can be generated from such airbases.
The area in reality is pretty barren, so don't expect a terrain with much targets. Still, you can enjoy CAS missions at St. Lawrence Island and Lopp Lagoon being invaded by Soviet forces, and the usual dogfights over the Bering Straits.
Ground Objects are not included. You can obtain them from Wrench's original DBS terrain release. Only very few of them should be needed anyway.

    >Credits (in no particular order):
-Major Lee, who came up with the idea of recreating such an interesting scenario in the Strike Fighters world.
-Wrench, who kindly allowed me to improve upon his work by giving me a blank cheque and trusting my capabilities. Thank you, sir!
-swambast, who provided me with invaluable help in tracking and fixing common and uncommon bugs.
-gerwin, whose TFDtool has proved to be essential in today's terrain making. If the terrain is pretty accurate to RL it's also because of him. I included his very nice Airfield 7+8 Addon Pack, too.
-mue, for the improved shaders he made, which I have included and reworked for the terrain, and for the tools he made for SF2 modding.
-luk1978, for the snowy runway textures he made for his Korean terrain repaint (unofficially released) and the waternormal bitmap he shared at the SF2 screenshots thread. Your mods are very interesting!
-MigBuster, I have included some of his great hi-res textures for runways.
-Brain32, for the original hi-res DBS tileset he made and which I have expanded with my bad transition tiles.
-Stary, because his tilesets are pure art. I borrowed a TOD and few tiles from his excellent Kamchatka tileset repaint.
-Gepard, for his great tutorials about terrain making, in the SF1 Knowledge Base at CombatACE. It's a gold mine!
-RussoUK, for the fixed Pit LOD he made, which solved a shadow bug from the original TW's LOD.
-krfrge, who has produced a tutorial for recreating SF2-like planning maps, which prompted me to work on templates and my own high quality planning maps. Thank you very much!
-comrpnt, for his Approach and Airfield Lighting Pack mod packages for SF1 series, which I reworked and included.
Because the original terrain was born from Major Lee and was later tweaked a number of times by Wrench, I included the ReadMe files from the original packages, to the end of giving proper credit to everyone involved directly or not.

    >Disclaimer:
This is a freeware; yet it can be redistributed ONLY in other CombatACE mods/mod packages.
Any changes to the terrain package's files and/or any copy-and-paste attempts of their contents are NOT authorized if you plan to release them in other mods. But permission might be granted to those who request it to me at CombatACE.
This terrain may NOT in any way, shape or form be used in any payware additions.

  5. Alternate Falklands Terrains

Firstly I strongly advise that you install the Falklands_1982 mod by eburger & team.

    http://combatace.com/topic/74604-sf2-falklands-mod-redux/

Two new versions of the Falklands/Malvinas terrain.

Hopefully most of the issues with the original are now sorted, coast lines have needed to be changed here and there and the terrain itself is much more uneven with more pronounced hills and mountains, two seasonal variations are included.

Please read the readme....it really does have some useful stuff in it.

Many thanks to eburger & the team that worked on the original mod.

  6. America Southwest (Texas/Mexico) for SF2

    America SouthWest Terrain

Updates, Fixes and Clean-Up For SF2 Series (Full-4 Merged Perfered)

What started out as a simple "straighten out some tiles and fix some target areas", turned into a massive revamp.... Like the original, it takes place in the post-WW3-ish world of the North American Alliance vs the Global Sedition. It is desigened for use any time period post-1950 through the present day (ala The Wingman series, or the TV series 'Jericho' or any of a number of post-apocalyptic movies, books or whathaveyous)

This is the FULL terrain, with some major changes updates, upgrades, etc. The targets, movements, data, types inis have all been expanded extensively. Massive retiling of a majority of the terrain will, hopefully, make it look a bit more like it's Real World ™ counterpart. Place names match the Real World; some however may be slightly displaced due to how terrains are built.

This is designed to REPLACE the original (and it's updates) in it's entirety, and is designed =ONLY= for use in SF2, preferably with a Full-4 Merged Install. This terrain makes use of the Desert cat to "pull" items from. It may work with the Germany or Vietnam, but this has NOT been tested. It will NOT work with the SF2:I Isreal cat. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO USE THE ISREALME CAT WITH THIS TERRAIN!!!The inis have been excessivly edited for use ONLY in the SF2 series. With Expert Level Knowledge on terrains/terrain ini editing, it =may= be possible to back-date/adjust for use in 1stGens. This has NOT been tested, and is NOT reccomended. Those that try, can expect 0, zilch, nada, =no= support from me on this issue. You're on your own -you have been warned.

Also added were many new tiles, updating/repainting of some other tiles (to make them fit and look better), and many new, custom TODs for buildings and trees and such. New planning maps have been generated as well. I'm trying out something 'new' on the symbols and labels, I hope you like it.

And, just for fun, I've included a variety of missions flown over this map. Remember, these are for a Full-4 Merged install, so those that are not merged, may not have all the aircraft available. It goes without saying, that those flown from the Red Side, you MUST have flyable MiGs in your install. They have been editated to make sure all aircraft are stock in a Full-4 Merged.

You will also be making some 'adjustments' to the FlightEngine.ini, with regards to expanding the map borders. This will eliminate certain 'issues' when flying near the map edges. Full, detailed instructions are below, in the "To Adjust Borders" section.

It is ALSO highly reccomended you READ this entire document through before installing this mod. If you don't, you're SURE to run into problems. And then, we'll clown on you. HARD, and mercilessly. As always, unzip this archive to a temp folder or you desktop to gain access to the full readme, and the files herein. Again, as always, there's a "Notes & Other Nonesense" section with explainations and other ramblings.

  7. Anatolia Project v2

Anatolia v2 (09/25/2011) for SF2 Series by PureBlue (Umut Destan)
    ------------------------------------------------------------------

    v2 Ramblings
    -----------------------

    New features:
    - The tileset is now based on Stary's GermanyCE reworked tileset v1.1.
    - New planning map contributed by Spectre8750
    - New target areas (Mostly around the border, for future campaign plans)
    - New airfields (Stefanovikio AB, Ercan and Paphos in Cyprus)
    - A few airfields with new designs
    - Most naval groundobjects now include properly defined "destroyed models."
    - New SAM vehicles included (Crotale Standin, Avenger, L60 Bofors...)
    - More work in Cyprus. Some roads, barracks, harbours.. (Still work in progress)

I suggest creating an Exclusive Install for this terrain.
The pack already includes historically accurate groundobjects, and many of the aircraft used
in the region are already available as mods and more are on the way..

Hopefully the next step for the project will be a pack that includes everything; campaings/objects/aircraft/terrain.

    Have fun!

    v1 Ramblings
    -----------------------

This project has been in development for 3 years and is the fruit of long hours of
research, design and implementation work. I've met great people along the way and
they made many contributions to the project. I thank every one of them but my special
appreciations go to, Steve "Swambast" who worked countless hours with me and developed
    STT (Swambast's Target Translator) which let me lay the foundation of this project;
    and Stary, a great artist from Poland who is behind all the beautiful looks of the terrain;
Dave and the CombatAce team for providing us the platform to meet and have fun.

The project includes a large map covering Anatolia (Turkiye), Greece, Aegean, Black Sea, and eastern Med.
The download also includes many ground and terrain objects, contributed by the talented modders in our
community. It's essential to install all these components to get the complete experience.

    Enjoy!

    INFO & INSTALLATION
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This project is designed for 2nd Gen SF2 series.
Succesfully tested in SF2:Europe and above. (A merged EXP2 install is recommended but not a requirement.)

There are 2 ways/methods to install this Mod.
#1 An exclusive install just for this Mod.
#2 Installing on top of the mod folder you already are using. (meaning, merging with your own install)

*** The preferred method of install is the (1) exclusive install. Since there are many groundobjects,
ships and air defense systems placed in handpicked locations, it's better to only use the objects that
come with this projects' files. The included ones are the makes/models that Turkish and Greek sides have
in their inventory. (As best as I could research and find appropriate mods for)

    INSTALL METHOD #1
    1. Rename a set of your "game.exe and game.ini" files to "Anatolia.exe and Anatolia.INI"
    (eg. StrikeFighters2 Europe.exe and StrikeFighters2 Europe.INI)
Run the newly renamed Anatolia.exe once, so you have a new Mod Folder.
Check this link if you don't know what a ModFolder is. http://combatace.com/topic/62302-what-is-the-mod-folder/

    2. Now go into your new ModFolder and delete the "Objects\GroundObject" folder.

    3. Time to copy the project files. Copy the included "Terrains" and "Objects" folders to your ModFolder.
With this project, a terrain folder, groundobjects and their respective guns/weapons are included.

    INSTALL METHOD #2
With this method, you only copy the included "Terrains" and "Objects" folders to your ModFolder.

    IMPORTANT RECOMMENDATIONS
    1. Everytime you load up the game. Run a quick single mission and quit without flying.
All the successive SingleMission/Campaign games will work as designed and expected.
(Why do this? Because the project includes many ground objects, seldomly the game engine has problems loading
everything, so the first mission you load up will have many objects/ships missing from the map.
The game does some kind of caching so after that first mission, everything will show!)

    2. If you don't have a powerfull computer, lower your settings to avoid crashes.
If your game crashes or locks up at %100 LOAD, try running your first mission with Settings:
-Enemy Air Activiy: LIGHT, Enemy Air Defense: LIGHT

    3. The Terrain has LimitedNations set the TRUE. So you'll only get aircraft with only Turkish and Greek markings.

    4. A specific Anatolia_EnvironmentSystem.INI is included and you can edit it to your liking.
Take note that in the Environment file the clouds are set to a specific MinBaseAltitude to overcome the cloud bug.

    5. All included Guns/Weapons/Sounds are for the necessary ground objects. Nothing extra is included here.
Without the GroundObjects and their respective files, the map will not look as designed.
(For example, naval traffic in the Aegean, historical sam sites and navy/army bases)

    6. Most naval traffic in the Aegean Sea is classified as NEUTRAL. You can attack them but you can't order your
wingman to do so. If you want, edit & classify the target areas as "Alignment=ENEMY" in the Anatolia_TARGETS.INI

    1. Copy and Rename a set of your "game.exe and game.ini" files to "Anatolia.exe and Anatolia.INI"
    (eg. StrikeFighters2 Europe.exe and StrikeFighters2 Europe.INI)
Run the newly renamed Anatolia.exe once, so you have a new Mod Folder.
Check this link if you don't know what a ModFolder is. http://combatace.com/topic/62302-what-is-the-mod-folder/

    2. Now go into your new ModFolder and delete the "Objects\GroundObject" folder.

    3. Time to copy the project files. Use Winrar or 7zip to extract the AnatoliaProject_Version1.7z to a temporary folder.
Copy all included folders (Eg. Terrains, Objects, Flight etc.) into your ModFolder, overwrite if necessary.
With this project, a terrain folder, groundobjects and their respective guns/weapons are included.

    INSTALL METHOD #2
With this method, you copy all included files to your already existing ModFolder.

    3. Two airfields are close to the MissionEditor edge limits of the map. Aktion and Diyarbakir airfields. If you
are set to take off from these, the game will drop your cockpit in the stratosphere! and you won't be able to fly.
Please reset your base or start in the air, if this happens. There wasn't much I can do fix this other than
    cancel their status.

    4. The Terrain has LimitedNations set the TRUE. So you'll only get aircraft with only Turkish and Greek markings.

    5. A specific Anatolia_EnvironmentSystem.INI is included and you can edit it to your liking.
Take note that in the Environment file the clouds are set to a specific MinBaseAltitude to overcome the cloud bug.

    6. All included Guns/Weapons/Sounds are for the necessary ground objects. Nothing extra is included here.
Without the GroundObjects and their respective files, the map will not look as designed.
(For example, naval traffic in the Aegean, historical sam sites and navy/army bases)

    7. Most naval traffic in the Aegean Sea is classified as NEUTRAL. You can attack them but you can't order your
wingman to do so. If you want, edit & classify the target areas as "Alignment=ENEMY" in the Anatolia_TARGETS.INI

OTHER MODS TO ADD from 3rd Party Sites
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    - OH_Perry FFG standing in for Turkish Gabya Class. Download from: http://cplengineeringllc.com/SFP1/
Copy the 4 LOD files into all three GroundObjects/GabyaClass* folders.
This ship is used at various locations in the map, and it would be wise to it to your install.

    - Stary's Unified Effects Pack is strongly recommended.

  10. Angola/South West Afrika Terrain Beta

I know everyone here has been waiting for a Border War terrain and have been salivating over the few screen shots released over the years... The wait is over!

This terrain is a Massive terrain covering most of South West Afrika with the Caprivi Strip, as well as Almost all of Angola as well as much of Botswana, some of Zambia and a small portion of the Congo. It is meant to cover the entirety of the Border War Conflict between FAPLA, SWAPO and the SADF, UNITA and SWADF. The Terrain covers many types of environments from the Skeleton Coast to the wetlands to the great plains and Bush of Ovomboland. This is meant to be a truly African terrain to fly the assortment of South African Air Force birds available here at CA.

This terrain was truly a team effort that started a few years ago and has passed through many hands along the way. The terrain was originally started by Centurion 1 and Coupi back in the 2013ish time frame and has been held and slowly worked on by a dedicated team here at CA comprised of but not limited to...

Stratos, Ludo.m54, Jeanba, Pualopanz, Coupi, recently me Spudknocker and even more recently tiospilotos...

I have brought together all of the pieces left behind by Centurion 1 and others and brought the terrain up to a playable and very fun level to share here at CA.

This really is a BETA release to show everyone what we have been working on! If you have any suggestions or want to help out with this project feel free to PM me, Coupi or Jeanba!

I could not have done so without Mue's AMAZING target area editor, Gerwin's FANTASTIC TFD tool and last but not least Wrench's incredible wealth of strike fighters knowledge.

Also included here with the terrain are several SAM's modified slightly from the original SF2 SAMs package for use by Angola as well as a stand in Impala MkII and SAAF Alouette III helicopter.

More SAAF and FAPLA related skins and aircraft will be released shortly!

Thanks for everyone's support here at CA and everyone's patience in waiting for this terrain.

  11. Archipelago v1.0

This is the first in a series of terrains (and probably tilesets) that I plan on making.

But, it's not going to be anyplace you recognize. You might notice a few landmasses that look familiar, but this terrain is a complete fabrication, Google Earth will shrug its shoulders if you start looking for it. But that allows you a lot of freedom in terms of scaling and just simply creating anything that pops into your head.

This concept came from a couple of ideas.

Western militaries have long had a tradition of wargaming exercises and creating war plans using fictional enemies. Consider this terrain to be less like a real world conflict and more like a live-fire training exercise against bad guys with real guns. This terrain will be not be a real place, but I did want some nods to realism, like a realistic number of targets and a realistic number of airfields for an island chain in the Pacific or Indian oceans.

The next idea I had came from top-tier games like Battlefield and Call of Duty. Ever notice how their multiplayer maps have vague names? The terrains are a lot like a single-player map pack, and this particular terrain could conceivably be used to create a campaign, but it was really meant and intended for single missions.

The last idea was that I want each terrain to be geared for a particular style of warfare, this gets back into the terrain being more of a sandtable exercise than a real conflict. Warfare styles might include traditional Cold War gone hot foes, or a 70s style bush war. This particular terrain is geared for very early jet combat/last of the prop jobs sort of combat, like a war of decolonization. It is designed to be an ECM-free environment, guns, unguided rockets, and dumb bombs. You won't find a single SAM site. You could even mod it into a WW2 theatre if you felt like it.

That's another thing. I don't mind if anyone wants to mod this further, like using a particular tileset or such like. If you plan on posting any mods of this terrain here for others to use, just shoot me an email. You don't have to ask for permission, just let me know what you're doing.

Also, this is part of the CA freeware agreement. Do not use this for payware.

  13. Baltika's Full-Scale New Zealand Terrain for SF2

    New Zealand Full-Scale Terrain

    by Baltika

    beta v 0.8

    ********************************

    INSTALLATION:-

For SF2 series, drop the NZ folder into the "Terrains" folder in the Mod folder.

The default NZ_data.ini file is set up for SF2.

If you are unfamiliar with the Mod folder concept in SF2, read this:-

    http://combatace.com/topic/62302-what-is-the-mod-folder/

    *********************************

For WoX/SFP1 series, drop the NZ folder into your Terrain folder in your main game install.

Use the NZ_DATA.INI file in the "Use in WoX" folder.

    *********************************

    CREDITS:-

Deuces for his Germany_CE tileset repaint which is the core tileset used here.

Stary for his Forests and Farms mod which has been extended for use here.

All the gang at Combatace. Not a hobby, more a way of life ;-)

    *********************************

    Baltika's musings:

Ironically, this is one of the first terrain projects I started, but has taken a very long time to reach this stage. Other things have taken priority at various times, but I always came back to this. I confess it has been sitting on my hard drive for some time. I have reviewed various WIPs and decided that, given the development lead in time for terrain projects is so long, it is better to release such projects as they reach advanced beta stage.

Targetisation is rather "cut & paste" for now. I will update the targets.ini as and when time permits. Meantime, all tiling work is finished, all runways plotted and flattened, and all target areas set. All mission types are activated for Red and Blue flyable forces.

Comments, feedback, bug reports and Single Malt Whisky to Baltika ;-)

Real life purists may wish to note that there are various remnants of the Third Age crumbling in the mountains - although some of them still have bite, so fly carefully!

    Slàinte mhòr!

  15. Bombing Range Revamp/Update for SF2

    Bombing Range Revamp/Update for SF2 5/6/2016

= For SF2, any and all (Full 4/5 Merged Reccomended)

This is a revamp/retile of Deuces original "The Range" terrain. Like the original, it's a terrain set up so one may practice Ground Attack and Strike mission against various types of ground targets. Also, finally, there has been the addition of a large "water feature", so now you can practice Anti-shipping missions as well! This will allow you to become familiar with the various types weapons, and their usages.

** REMINDER: there is NO Air-to-Air possible on this terrain. It is designed for attacking ground targets ONLY!! Also, like the companion "Red Range", this terrain is ONLY for Blue Force usage. Trying to fly any Red Force (Soviet, WarPac, etc) aircraft WILL result in lockups, CTDs and other unpleasentness. **

I'm calling this "ver. 4" even though I'm unsure exactly what it should be called! The terrain has been completly retiled in "IME" style tiles. Where necessary (and wanted), a few new TODs has been made with better looking trees. For the most part, however, it's an empty terrain. Home Base is now a Runway 4 allowing for bombers to be used, and has been completly redressed by 331KillerBee with objects from his recently released airfield upgrade kits. Also many other objects from the other various airfield dress-up packs by various other good people have been scattered around, making for a LOT of eye candy.
This is also the first terrain to be (re)released using sets of sub-folders for the various terrain objects. Because of the amount of objects to be loaded, you may experience longer loading times at mission start ups.

Also included is a modified "Single Mission ini" that has had the minimum target values lowered, so the game engine can assign Strike missions against a wide variety of "lesser value" items. This file can be used in ANY mods folder, and will work for all types single missions the game generates.

As always, fairly easy to follow, yet detailed install instructions are included. So, please read them .... Give the "notes" a browse, too! For those unfamiliar with the "cat pointer" lines, there are instructions on it's proper useage.

    Good Hunting!!

  16. Central America Terrain for SF2

    Central America Terrain for SF2

    - For SF2, Any & All (Full-4/5 Merged Reccomended*)

This terrain covers the area from Belize, down to Columbia, centered on the Panama Canal. Some regions are a bit truncated (eastern El Salvador), and some areas are not targeted.

This terrain does =NOT= have the SF2NA "NavalMap" statement activated in any inis. It is designed =ONLY= for ground-based air forces. It is highly suggested it remain as such. However, the _water.bmp does have 2 "Blue Side" coded carrier stations, one in the Pacific and one in the Caribean. Again, its not reccomended for CV usage; as once the "NavalMap=TRUE" is activated, all USMC carrier-capable aircraft will now ONLY fly from The Boat.

The LimitedNations statement is set to TRUE, allowing only for 'regional powers' (with a few exceptions).
Many of the included GroundObjects you may already have -- install them anyway. A majority of them have had the "issuing" user nations corrected, and the appropriate UserList created. The included Ships have also been updated as per SF2NA.

Geophysical Disclaimer: some rivers and other water features may not follow their Real Life ™ courses, or be placed in their Real Life ™ locations. Several cities and other physical features may also fall into that classification.
However, 2 Easter Eggs are emplaced on the map. You should be able to guess where, and what they are.

As always, unzip this to a temp folder or your desktop, and you'll have access to the rest of the readme for it's instructions. It's reccomended you read the document through after unzipping, but before installing. As always, the Notes and Other Nonesense section may make for entertaining reading. Please also read the New Standard discalimer, as it's been changed slightly.

    Happy Sightseeing!

  17. Coastal Range

Hi!! Well, here it goes: This is my firs attempt to creat a terrain. The idea is to
have a "realistic" terrain, with army bases, docks, shipping and truck routes, etc. to practice A2G missions, anti-ship, carrier take off and landing, you name it

I have included many ground objects and 3rd party mods, and I would like to thank the following:

Wrench, for I have borrowed ground objects from his great Libya Terrain (barbed wire, Soviet Freighter, factory building, helicopters, pillbox) and for his airbase goodies.
Stary, for his realistic and gorgeous GermanyCE tiles. They look great!!!
Piecemeal, I borrowed some layouts from his awesome DesertV4 terrain.
Rends, I borrowed some ground objects from his Germany CE terrain.
Krfrge, I took a look at his combat outpost and artillery firebase, and used them as a basis to create some.
Kesselbrut, I have included some ships he has created (trawler, tug)
Rover and Gepard for your terrain building tutorials, they have been very valuable to me!!!
PureBlue for his Airfield Development kit and those who worke to contribute to it: Sundowner: B_Trailer_Mk82, M_trailer, B_TrailerLGB, Y_Tractor, RAF_Cart, B_Duel_Y_Trac, C_Type, RAF_Bunker, TAB_Vee, HAS_M, HAS_E, c_store, Earth Walls, mounds, blast walls and all desert variants of these objects

    Amokfloo: ControlTower, ForkLift, FireExtinguisher, ShelterZu
    Ravenclaw: Fire Trucks
    Stary: str_hangars 1 thru 8
Pureblue: FloodLight, SmallGenerator, ConcreteBlock, SunShelter, HeliPad1N
    Polak: tools
Polak and the CFS Midway Group for their object Library 1.
    Julhelm for his Factory Buildings.
    Sundowner, for his Airfield objects.

Gepard, for his Marxwalde Air Base, included in his 10 new air base mod.
And finally, many many thanks to the CombatAce Community, you guys have always helped me in time of need!

  18. Cuba (OTC Plus) Terrain

Cuba "OTC Plus" Terrain for SF2

This is a complete rebuild of the 'Operation Tainted Cigar' terrain, that originally represented the time frame of the Cuban Missile Crisis. While revamped with that in mind, everyone knows that I don't build terrains that can only be used for 14 Days. This terrain has been EXTENSIVELY expanded, and has operation years spanning from 1959 (the year of the Cuban Revolution), to the Present Day and Beyond, ie: 1959-2050.

This is a complete terrain, with many new/revamped/replaced/whatever tiles, and includes Stary's Enhanced Cuba pakage (meaning: LOTS of custom-made tiles and TODs). The entire map was gone over completly, moving/removing and adding dozens of new target areas and correcting errors from the original release. Unfortunately, I was not able to generate new planning maps, as for some reason SFMap kept crapping out on this terrain (volenteers, anyone??) My apologies for getting 'stuck with' the old ones.

The targets, types, and movements ini have been expanded to be as historicaly and geophysically accurate as (much as is, with this terrain engine) possible. See "Notes" for more on this. The data ini uses the latest (June 2011) structure. The Limited Nations statement is set to TRUE, reducing the players to those regionally historical.

So as not to conflict with any other Cuba terrain, this is called "Cuba (OTC+)" -this is how it will appear in your dropdown menu. The folder itself is called "CubaOTC". However, this terrain does NOT include the southern US (north of Orlando), Central or South America. Other than that, I think you'll find it enjoyable (no, DisneyWorld/EPCOT is NOT on the map, sorry)

A large number of Ground Objects are included; some you may already have, some are new or revamped versions. Userlists have also been genrated for these, where the user(s) was known and/or discoverable. This also explains the LARGE size of the download - sorry, it's the one way I know that makes sure you have damn near everything necessary to run. Aircraft and skins are NOT included. With luck, I've remembered to add the items necessary; pleas make sure you have the needed artillery pieces. (both sides, although a new one is included)

The map is 'time sensitive', with respect to the October Crisis; the IRBM batteries will turn on and off for that time frame. SAM sites are accurately placed, and for the most part remain active for the full duration up to Modern/Post-Modern Times.
*Shameless Plug: several country & era-specific aircraft/aircraft skins are available in the CA SF2 downloads section*

For those wishing to use this terrain on the old OTC campaign -DON'T. It will not work. A new campaign is under construction.

As expected, there are several Easter Eggs -- you'll find them if you look hard enough. (Hint: one's in the Bahama's)

Geophysical Disclaimer: some rivers and other water features may not follow their Real Life ™ courses, or be placed in their Real Life ™ locations. Several cities and other physical features may also fall into that classification.

As always, unzip this to a temp folder or your desktop, and you'll have access to the rest of the readme for it's instructions. It's reccomended you read the document through after unzipping before installing. As always, the Notes and Other Nonesense section may make for entertaining reading. Please also read the standard disclaimer, as it's been changed slightly.

  19. DBS Limited Nations Tweek

Danger: Bering Straits Nations Fix for SF2 series -ONLY-

Just a small package of 2 inis, that activate the "LimitedNations" statement for the Major Lee's DBS terrain.

This will now effectively "cut off" any nations for single mission play that shouldn't be seen in the region. Obviously, one would NOT expect to find Isreali, North Vietnamese, Belgian, Lybian or anyone else that just plane shouldn't be there.

The nations have been limited to the "usual suspects" for the region:

    USAF
    USN
    USMC
    RCAF (CAF)
    and
    Soviet

Nothing else has been changed, just the players on this playground. So, =all= the normal mission statements (CAS, Sweep, Anti-Ship, etc) are active as normally seen.

It's reccomended for use with the 2 updates that have been released for DBS, and you should have them already before installing this mod:

Bering Straits Terrain Targets Upgrade Pak

    http://forum.combatace.com/files/file/7684-bering-straits-terrain-targets-upgrade/

    Bering Straits Water Fix Mod

    http://forum.combatace.com/files/file/10787-dbs-water-fix/

While designed for SF2 series, it will most likely work in SF/Wo* 1stGens at the 08 patch level that can take advantage of the limited nations statement. However, this has =NOT= been tested. Those that do install to first gens, feedback is requested.

As always, a simple and easy to follow readme is enclosed -- so read it!!! You're actually only changing 2 files, but I'm from the world of CYA, so... READ IT!!

  21. Desert Plus

    FOR SFP1, SFGOLD, and SF2.

This mod adds 2 more fictional countries to the stock desert terrain. The new countries are the Republic of Dohar, allied with Paran, and the Sultanate of Sharnak, allied with Dhimar. The mod adds some new airports, cities and towns in the unoccupied western section of the desert terrain, as well as border posts, lookout towers and some new oil fields for Dhimar and Paran. This version is likely the final one.

    Main Features:

    1. Easy install that won't affect the stock terrain.
    2. 3 time zoom map showing new border areas.
    3. a few new attack and truck routes added for CAS and Armed Recon missions

CREDITS: Thanks to Whiteknight 06604 for making the Dohar and original Sharnak decals.

    Changes for version 2.2:
    1. Terrain leveled at Canopic airfield.
    2. The airfield at Fasala has been moved and the terrain leveled at the new location.
    3. Some seldom used terrain tiles have been repainted so the airfields at Shalabar and Al'Aranak are on greenspace.
    4. Optional textures for the SF-2 dirt runway included.

NOTES: Still working on a new terrain for the four fictional countries but it won't be ready for a loooooooong time.

  22. Desert Target Zone - SF2

    For Strike Fighters 2.

Built for real time game generated strike missions. Shouldn't take more than 30 minutes to do a round trip strike mission. Paran and Dhimar get 4 airports each and the front line is relocated to what used to be central Dhimar. Main Features:

    1. 141 target areas including 10 SAM sites for Paran.

    2. Easy install.

    3. Many "Freeware" objects being used.

    4. Quicker Take Off mod included with customized parking spots. Large aircraft parking will accept C-5A sized aircraft.

    5. Contains Ground Attack, Truck, and Ship routes so you can fly CAS, Armed Recon and anti-ship missions.

    6. Has a 3X zoom map from an older version of SF that shows desert and green spaces better.

    7. Installation won't affect your stock "Desert" terrain.

    8. Negative points awarded if you cause collateral damage.

CREDITS: Thanks to these folks for creating and allowing freeware use of their building objects:

    1. This project uses some objects from MITCH's "Factory Place" project. There seems to be a consensus within the Strike Fighters community that it's OK to use these objects for FreeWare projects.
    3. WRENCH, for hosting the "Factory Place" objects at his website. And for the cool "Shipwrecks!"
    2. GEPARD, for some objects I lifted from his DRV terrain.
    4. PASKO, for the round tents, now used by the Bedouins.
    5. GRUMPOTAMUS, for the Radar Dome.
    6. WINGWHINER, for the some Factories, Headquarters Building, Gas Station, Tactical Control Center, and Control Tower H1.
    7. STARY, for the his hangar pack.
    8. FUBAR512, for the Pecco Crane.
    New for this version:
    9. WINGWHINER again for some buildings from his epic 43 city buildings pack.
    10.JULHELM for some industrial silo's/buildings
11.RussoUK and Gepard for the Oil Rig.
12.EZLead for the formation take off mod.
    13. TK and ThirdWire for creating such an interesting flight sim / hobby.

Changes for this version: Unless a patch does something really bad to this terrain, it is the final version. Using some buildings from WingWhiners 43 city building pack finally gave me the variety I was looking for. Check out EZleads included formation take off mod, it's a perfect fit for this terrain!

  24. Desert Terrain V.4

This is the latest (and my final) version of the Desert terrain. After months of tweaking and testing I've come to realise that this is as good as I'm going to get it.
So thus I've decided to just release it to the masses and see how it goes....

Desert 4 is similar to Desert V.3 albeit with a few important differences:
    1. MOST IMPORTANTLY!!! - This terrain has been navalised, so you'll need to have SF2:NA in order to have missions work the way they should.
As to whether this terrain will work without SF2:NA , I'm not sure and I can't guarantee it; but you're free to give it a try.
    2. This terrain is based on the STOCK DESERT TERRAIN, so DON'T use the tiles from V3 as that mod is based on Polak's desert terrain. The tiles
along the coast will be totally messed up.
    3. D9 and D10 Airbases are still based in the mountainous north-western region of the map. However, the problem of having AI flights crashing
into a nearby mountain soon after take-off from D10 has been solved by removing the hill in question. Huge thanks has to go to to Baffmeister
for his work with that! Credit also has to go to Baffmeister for the surface levelling and re-tiling work around those and other airbases, as
well as his work on the islands.
    4. The tiles are the work of JSF_Aggie, which are a huge improvement from the stock ones. Note: the tiles within the terrain folder have been
resized to 512 X 512 pixels for better framerate performance. But for those with higher spec PCs, you can get the full size tiles in the
    download section here:
    http://combatace.com/files/file/12368-hi-res-desert-tiles/
    5. I've used Stary's excellent Desert Ground Environment mod, which for that region of the world, brings 110% more realism to town and city
regions, with more realistic buildings and trees.
    6. More target areas have been added, as well as a few more "Easter Eggs". So get flyin' and start lookin'!

  25. Desert3 Terrain

UPDATED DESERT TERRAIN V1.3 FOR SF2

SF2 has always been my favourite of all the platforms; and after downloading and using the various terrain mods for SF2E and SF2V with hungry anticipation I decided to HEAVILY modify the stock Desert terrain with more than enough of eye candy.

    DESCRIPTION:

Without giving too much away, the geographical story is now as follows:

*As well as Dhimar and Paran, I've added Sharnak from baffmeister's Desert 2 terrain (my inspiration for this), now a colony which is known as the British Protectorate of Sharnak. RAF squadrons are permanently based there. A couple of other bases, border posts and the like have also been added from Desert 2
*I always thought that D9 and D10 airfields were always a little too close to the border. They've now been moved to the Dhimari 'wastelands' which you'll see on the centre left side of the enclosed planning map
*About ten SAM sites have been added to various locations on Dhimar and the amount of SAM sites across Paran has been hugely increased, the biggest increase being Paran's capital city of Kurzah; which in SAM site and Flak battery terms is now more like Hanoi during the Vietnam War.
*Ships, cranes, oil tanks, warehouses and the like have been added to ports on both sides. Now the capital cities of Muthala and Kurzah, have extensive docklands. Other coastal towns have at least one docking area for shipping.
*(15TH AUG 2010): Inspired by JSF Aggie's SF2 Range terrain, all airfields on both sides have been extensively facelifted and given a new lease of life by re-populating them with huge amounts of groundobjects, both new and old. They now look a lot more like real life airfields instead of that deserted 'Chernobyl International Airport' look in the default airfields. All airfields have also been re-catagorised into two different groups; 'Red' and 'Blue'. For example, a Dhimari DESERT_AIRFIELD4 will now be 'BLUE_AIRFIELD4' and a Parani one will now be 'RED_AIRFIELD4'. New trucks have been added as default groundobjects so they'll have to be downloaded elsewhere on the site (see 'Installation' for details).
*(24TH MARCH 2012): All neccessary INI files have been updated to March 2012 standard. RAF Canopic is now called "Canopic AFB" and is a full-time U.S. Air Force facility. All friendly airfields and some enemy airfields have been enhanced further by adding more groundobjects and in general just tidying up and re-arranging buildings, etc. Offshore oil wells have been situated off the Sharnak and Dhimari coasts. U.S. bomber flights can now attack Paran via the off-map airbase at Diego Garcia. Army bases have been added across Dhimar and in Sharnak for you to defend from Parani bomber attacks.

    ----------------------------------

    INSTALLATION (PLEASE READ CAREFULLY):

Simply unzip the FILE and put the enclosed 'DESERT3' folder into your Terrain folder. NOTE: Please ensure that you drop the enclosed groundobjects into you mod folder, otherwise there'll be no trucks anywhere in Dhimar and no oil rigs in the offshore oilfields!!

Important Note: If you don't already have these, you should download them from the SF1 downloads section, otherwise they won't show up:
*SAMs & Vehicles Pack with Desert Skins by Pasko.
    *Soviet Transport Pack by Kesselbrut.
    *M109A6 Paladin by rebel ryder.

Thanks to Deuces for his editing of some DS terrain tiles.
Special thanks to Dave for his encouragement and assistance. The project wouldn't have been taken to this level only for him pointing me towards the right people.
