  1. Israel 2 Terrain (ver 4.1) Upgrade/Update for SF2

    Israel 2 Terrain (ver 4.1) Upgrade/Update for SF2 3/28/2015

= For SF2, Any and All (Full 5 Merged RECCOMENDED!!!) =

**Note: this terrain replaces any and all previous versions!!**

This is an (almost) complete rebuild of my 2008 build of Gepard's Israel 2 terrain. The
terrain has been 90% retiled to more match the stock IsraelME and my "Eastern Med"
terrains. However, the farm and city tiles remain in their original 'desert' style. All
other tiles have been replaced. The target areas have, for the most part, been rebuilt,
enhanced and/or expanded. As is to be expected, several new tiles, and their associated
    TODs had to be created.
It is designed to be used =ONLY= in the SF2:I environment.

The addon terrain objects have been kept to a minimum (no, not really!). Stock in-game
items have been used in most cases, although some additional structrues HAVE been added.
Add-on GroundObjects, while heavily listed in the _Types.ini, have been kept to as small
    an amount as possible.
I've included =SOME= of the Ground Objects needed but NOT all of them. Its up to the End
User ™ to make sure that you have the theatre-specific (read: Israeli and Arab nations)
proper items. That means, I've given you no AAAs/SAMs/Radars, Tanks, SPGs, ships, etc (and
    any associated guns/weapons they'd require).

Geophysical Disclaimer: some rivers and other water features may not follow their Real
Life ™ courses, be placed in their Real Life ™ locations, or exist at all. Several
cities and other physical features, and target areas will also fall into that
classification. Some target areas (cities, etc) exist only as named places, even if they
might have had strategic or tactical values (most don't!). Just someplace to fly over.

    When in game, you'll see:

    "Isreal 2 (Full Scale)"

Limited Nations is set to TRUE, and only contains regional states. This terrain is =NOT=
carrier capable in =any= SF2 Environment (see notes - and I don't know why!).

As always, unzip this to a temp folder or your desktop, and you'll have access to the rest
of the readme for it's instructions. It's reccomended (ie: REQUIRED!!!) you read the
document through after unzipping, but before installing.
As always, the Notes and Other Nonsense section may make for entertaining (and essential!) reading.
It's most important that the legal disclaimer at the bottom be read and complied with.
There has been a change in policy with regards to =ALL= my terrain mods.

    Happy Landings!

  2. America Southwest (Texas/Mexico) for SF2

    America SouthWest Terrain

Updates, Fixes and Clean-Up For SF2 Series (Full-4 Merged Perfered)

What started out as a simple "straighten out some tiles and fix some target areas", turned into a massive revamp.... Like the original, it takes place in the post-WW3-ish world of the North American Alliance vs the Global Sedition. It is desigened for use any time period post-1950 through the present day (ala The Wingman series, or the TV series 'Jericho' or any of a number of post-apocalyptic movies, books or whathaveyous)

This is the FULL terrain, with some major changes updates, upgrades, etc. The targets, movements, data, types inis have all been expanded extensively. Massive retiling of a majority of the terrain will, hopefully, make it look a bit more like it's Real World ™ counterpart. Place names match the Real World; some however may be slightly displaced due to how terrains are built.

This is designed to REPLACE the original (and it's updates) in it's entirety, and is designed =ONLY= for use in SF2, preferably with a Full-4 Merged Install. This terrain makes use of the Desert cat to "pull" items from. It may work with the Germany or Vietnam, but this has NOT been tested. It will NOT work with the SF2:I Isreal cat. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO USE THE ISREALME CAT WITH THIS TERRAIN!!!The inis have been excessivly edited for use ONLY in the SF2 series. With Expert Level Knowledge on terrains/terrain ini editing, it =may= be possible to back-date/adjust for use in 1stGens. This has NOT been tested, and is NOT reccomended. Those that try, can expect 0, zilch, nada, =no= support from me on this issue. You're on your own -you have been warned.

Also added were many new tiles, updating/repainting of some other tiles (to make them fit and look better), and many new, custom TODs for buildings and trees and such. New planning maps have been generated as well. I'm trying out something 'new' on the symbols and labels, I hope you like it.

And, just for fun, I've included a variety of missions flown over this map. Remember, these are for a Full-4 Merged install, so those that are not merged, may not have all the aircraft available. It goes without saying, that those flown from the Red Side, you MUST have flyable MiGs in your install. They have been editated to make sure all aircraft are stock in a Full-4 Merged.

You will also be making some 'adjustments' to the FlightEngine.ini, with regards to expanding the map borders. This will eliminate certain 'issues' when flying near the map edges. Full, detailed instructions are below, in the "To Adjust Borders" section.

It is ALSO highly reccomended you READ this entire document through before installing this mod. If you don't, you're SURE to run into problems. And then, we'll clown on you. HARD, and mercilessly. As always, unzip this archive to a temp folder or you desktop to gain access to the full readme, and the files herein. Again, as always, there's a "Notes & Other Nonesense" section with explainations and other ramblings.

    Good Hunting!

  4. Kamchatka Terrain for SF2 (by Baltika, Ver 2)

Kamchatka Terrain for SF2 (by Baltika, Ver 2) 7/26/2013

    = For SF2, FULL 5 Merged - SF2NA REQUIRED!!! =

This is a rebuild of Baltika's Kamchatka terrain. It has been rebuilt (almost)
completly, and is designed to REPLACE, in total, the original 1stGen Version.
The Targets and movements inis have been redone, and are more reflective of the Real
World ™. Place names have been changed to local spelling (where discoverable,
spellable and pronounable). The Original Easter Egg ™ is still intact; several others
    have been added, as expected.

This terrain was (re)built and tested within my SF2:NA mods folder. It makes use of the
various statements and bits (water bmps, etc) that are =REQUIRED= for proper CVBG and
SAG operations. It is suggested that it =ONLY= be used in a pure NA environment. It will
NOT work properly in ANY 1stGen install; so don't even bother asking. NA is also
required, as several 'in port' ships are stock items. Like the Original Release, it is a
"2 Season" terrain. Winter and Not Winter.

It should be noted at this time, you =WILL= be needing all of WhiteBoySamauri's Soviet
Ships, JMSDF ships, JGSDF ground objects, and any JASDF aircraft you can lay your hands
on!! To say nothing of "the usual suspects" US and Soviet ground objects (trucks, tanks,
APCs, AFV/IFV, even more ships, etc). Some are provided, but the rest you'll have to
    locate yourself.

Geophysical Disclaimer: some rivers and other water features may not follow their Real
Life ™ courses, be placed in their Real Life ™ locations, or exist at all (read:
there are NO rivers on this map. See Notes for more details). Several cities and other
physical features, and target areas will also fall into that classification. Some target
areas (cities, etc) exist only as named places, with no strategic or tactical values.
    Just someplace to fly over.

As always, unzip this to a temp folder or your desktop, and you'll have access to the
rest of the readme for it's instructions. It's reccomended you read the document through
after unzipping, but -BEFORE- installing. As always, the Notes and Other Nonesense
section may make for entertaining reading, as it explains a few "oddities" you WILL
    experience!

Please also read and -OBEY- the New Standard Usage Discalimer, as it's been changed
slightly to reflect a change in my policy. It's listed at the bottom, in the Legal
Statement Section, with the URL back to the CA post.

*Please Note: there are a few items still missing from the terrain, as well as a new
tile set. It is being released "as is", with the caveat that when the new ground object
and new tiles are ready, there =WILL= be an Update Pak. Until then, enjoy!*

    Happy Landings!

  5. Ecuador, Northwest South America (1981-1998)

Ecuador, Northwest South America (1981-1998) Terrain
    August 13th, 2018 (1st Release)
    by Menrva, tiopilotos and Stratos

    >For Strike Fighters 2, Recommended Full-5 Merged
I am proud to present a new scratch-made terrain, the result of a joint effort of modders! Initially conceived by Centurion-1, the terrain was later salvaged by Stratos, who offered to help in its development together with tiopilotos. Stratos helped by hand-tiling most if not all the incredibly long rivers in the Amazon rainforest. The terrain later received an impressive tileset produced by tiopilotos! You guys have my deepest gratitude!
The terrain completely covers Ecuador, a great portion of Peru, and even touches Colombia and Brasil. However, only Peru and Ecuador have been targetized at this stage. Numerous target areas, such as civilian airports and airstrips, have been added in order to expand playability, targets of opportunity and year range.
This terrain features a fresh new 250m resolution heightmap (instead of the stock 500m resolution), allowing for greater details and precision in elevation changes; overall it provides the whole terrain with a better look.
The terrain spans from January 28, 1981 (the beginning of the Paquisha Incident) to October 26, 1998 (when a resolution of the Ecuadorian-Peruvian territorial dispute was agreed upon through the Brasilia Presidential Act); it is designed for the Paquisha War of 1981 and the Cenepa War of 1995. Most air-to-ground missions (armed recon, close air support, etc.) take place at the border between Peru and Ecuador, to provide an even more realistic scenario. As in reality, there are few SAM sites placed at their precise Real World locations.
Targets reflect Real World events as accurately as possible; for instance, some border outposts will appear only after a certain year, according to historic changes. Off Map Airbases have been added and long range AI flights can be generated from them, if you have SF2NA.
Ground Objects are not included. It's up to the user to find and obtain anything that can be useful for the proposed terrain's scenarios.

    >Credits (in no particular order):
-Centurion-1, for his interest in recreating such scenario in the Strike Fighters world. I heard RL got in your way, so... best of luck, mate!
-tiopilotos, for the massive tileset he produced, and for his continuous support in all my terrain modding efforts. Thank you very much!
-Stratos, for he brought to attention Centurion-1's unfinished terrain and offered to help realize it.
-swambast, who provided me with invaluable help in tracking and fixing common and uncommon bugs.
-gerwin, whose TFDtool has proved to be essential in today's terrain making. If the terrain is pretty accurate to RL it's also because of him. I included his very nice Airfield 7+8 Addon Pack, too.
-mue, for the improved shaders he made, which I have included and reworked for the terrain, and for the tools he made for SF2 modding.
-luk1978, for the waternormal bitmap he shared at the SF2 screenshots thread. Your mods are very interesting!
-MigBuster, I have included some of his great hi-res textures for runways.
-Stary, for the various hi-res tilesets and TODs he made, which have been re-used in this tileset.
-Gepard, for his great tutorials about terrain making, in the SF1 Knowledge Base at CombatACE. It's a gold mine!
-krfrge, who has produced a tutorial for recreating SF2-like planning maps, which prompted me to work on templates and my own high quality planning maps. Thank you very much!
-comrpnt, for his Approach and Airfield Lighting Pack mod packages for SF1 series, which I reworked and included.
Although scratch-made, the terrain makes use of most objects and target layouts from Wrench's Panama terrain; because of this, I included the ReadMe file from that package, to the end of giving proper credit to everyone involved directly or not.

    >Disclaimer:
This is a freeware; yet it can be redistributed ONLY in other CombatACE mods/mod packages.
Any changes to the terrain package's files and/or any copy-and-paste attempts of their contents are NOT authorized if you plan to release them in other mods. But permission might be granted to those who request it to me at CombatACE.
This terrain may NOT in any way, shape or form be used in any payware additions.

  6. Texas, American South Central (1968-2018)

Texas, American South Central (1968-2018) Terrain
    August 13th, 2018 (1st Release)
    by Menrva

    >For Strike Fighters 2, Recommended Full-5 Merged
This is a new, scratch-made terrain inspired by the original, smaller ASW terrain made by krfrge and reworked by Wrench.
The terrain covers to a good extent the American State of Texas, as well as some Mexican States. Major rivers and a number of lakes have been hand-tiled and mimic Real World courses. Numerous target areas, such as civilian airports and onshore and offshore oil fields, have been added in order to expand playability, targets of opportunity and year range.
This terrain features a fresh new 250m resolution heightmap (instead of the stock 500m resolution), allowing for greater details and precision in elevation changes; overall it provides the whole terrain with a better look.
The terrain spans from October 3, 1968 to December 31, 2018; it is designed for a fictional scenario where Mexico is invaded by an alliance of Central American countries (namely Cuba, Nicaragua, El Salvador and Guatemala) supported by the Russians; the remnant of the Mexican military flees to the U.S. and fights alongside North American forces. However, users are encouraged to recreate whatever scenario they like, even outside the given time frame.
Targets reflect Real World events as accurately as possible; for instance, some airfields and Mexican oil platforms will appear only after a certain year, according to historic changes. If you have SF2NA, American naval fleets can spawn in the Gulf of Mexico. All main targets have been placed accurately in their Real World locations.
Ground Objects are not included. It's up to the user to find and obtain anything that can be useful for the proposed terrain's scenarios.

    >Credits (in no particular order):

-MigBuster, I have included some of his great hi-res textures for runways.
-Stary, for the hi-res tileset he made for the original ASW terrain.
-Polak, for a few tiles I borrowed and reworked from his old PRDesert2 tileset.
-Gepard, for his great tutorials about terrain making, in the SF1 Knowledge Base at CombatACE. It's a gold mine!
-comrpnt, for his Approach and Airfield Lighting Pack mod packages for SF1 series, which I reworked and included.

  7. Kamchatka 250m version with adjusted tileset etc

Kamchatka Peninsula 250m heightmesh update with corresponding tweaks and rejuvenated/extended tileset and layout
for Strike Fighters 2, best fully-merged installation
    v1.0
    by Stary
    July 2016

    ^^^^----------------------------------------------^^^^

This is test rebuild of Baltika's and Wrench's Kamchatka terrain, based on Kamchatka v2.0 which is major update to original Baltika's
    terrain by Wrench.

This is semi-experimental update aimed at demonstrating and testing in wider userbase usage of denser resolution heightmesh.
I can >>not<< guarantee the stability of this terrain due to engine limitations and what I observed and what seems to be slight memory handling issues of the SF2 engine

    Credits:
Baltika and Wrench for their work on Kamchatka map.
Gerwin for TFD tool and BMP2TFD
    Combatace and Thirdwire
All the nice people around here

    Extended information, please read carefully!

    The height mesh:

The stock Thirdwire .hfd terrain format uses publictly available DEM (digital elevation model) databases to produce 500 meters vertex
spaced terrain meshes with 2000 meters tiles covering them. This is proven, easy to use system but 500 meters is awfully 1999 technology
for 2016 systems. Thus given my efforts into NA LOD-based terrains creation stalled due to lack of knowledge and tools I decided to
reproduce one of more interesting yet obscure maps available, the Kamchatka Peninsula.
The mesh in this download currently uses 250 meters resolution which is twice the density and detail* compared to original terrain.
Please note that due to being based on low resolution hfd file output the actual height representation is somewhat off compared to real terrain!
Not much and not that it really matters much. "If it looks good it is good"

New heightmap was created in several steps which I now describe to help other more advanced terrain modders possibly use this method:

First steps -Gerwin's TFDTool and Photoshop:
-I used Gerwin's TDF tool to output the heightmap via F9 key
-Also created the textures bitmap as a helper file via F7 key
-The created file in grayscale is 3000x3000, which corresponds to 500m resolution on 1500000m map (3000/2=1500! Magic!)
-Thus I rescaled the file to 6000x6000 pixels, the same with the texture bitmap which I copied to greyscale file for reference
-The 6000x6000 or twice the original is the 250m per pixed heightfield file
-I filled the blue water areas TFDTool creates with pure black 0,0,0
-Then I spent some time in Photoshop working on several layers and using several brushes and tools to slightly tweak the grayscale height
image, mostly to brighten the higher areas and adjust some more interesting places. Mostly blur, stroke tools and some slight wave-y
filers to add some detail to now ARTIFICIALLY pumped up resolution (further on this below)
-Pro tip: to get rid of any water/shore artifacts is easy way, the so called tsunami waves or coast areas on slopes I selected the
texture map layer, selected all water areas (select by pixel color) and created another pure black layer on top of the main height layer,
that drops slight shadows around it (2 to 4 pixels black shadow) -this way the heightmap gets toned down for few pixels (two is good
value) when near the water areas; think smart not hard as The Ancient One says :P
when the heightmap was considered ready I flattened it and converted to 8bit palleted file using the stock Thirdwire terrain editor
palette (you can do this palette by exporting any heightmap as bitmap from within the TE and saving it's palette to file, most programs
    allow palette saving)

Second step -Thirdwire Terrain Editor, the 042106 version:
so now I had the TE-format palleted 8bit heightmap but to import it without further data loss I needed to adjust the TerrainEditor.ini
    settings via notepad:
-the line that specifies the min-max scale of height present in the file is this line:

    [bitmapImport]
HeightScale=15 <---- this line, by default uses value of 10
    MinLandHeight=0 <---- by default 1

experimenting with this value gives you the similar results as using PGUP/PGDN keys when using Gerwin's bmp2tfd tool, basically sets the global vertical scaling of min-max values in file

To create new 250m resolution the values at creating new map are as follows:
Terrain Map Size: 1500 (km, like original Kamchatka terrain)
Texture Tile Resolution: 2000 (meters, like all common SF2 maps and tilesets)
Height Field Resolution: 250 (meters, compared to defaul 500 meters)

Then if you do have the texturelist loaded yo ushould get new flat terrain with textures filling the areas, just impor t he
heightmap from the created 6000x6000 paletted bitmap and save.
This is basic procedure, same can be used to create 125 meters resolution terrains (I did so for Korea3 terrain so far) BUT those are unstable and I am still trying to get
perfect values in BOTH flightengine.ini and given terrain's _data.ini
*now the heihgt information/detail gets lost every time we index the heightmap so one must then increase the HeightScale= value to get
more or less proper -OR GOOD LOOKING height values. Also be warned that Gerwin's TFDTool doesn't properly translate non-standard maps
(1000 kilometers ones go ok though) that is why the TE hassle
That said -the height scale is a bit OFF in this map so if you are a purist complain all you want, I wanted better looking mesh more than
geographical accuracy. To have the latter we need to come up with otehr height data sources for denser terrains. I have yet to look into
the tools and programs I own what could be of use.

    Installation:

Before installing this mod BACKUP your Kamchatka terrain!!! There is possibility you won't get this terrain working at all so I warned
    you!

To install this exctract the zip and move the content of the included folder to your Kamchatka terrain, overwrite when asked.

This way now you have new terrain tfd and hfd files, new inis, TODs and new reworked tileset in both summer nad winter flavours in their respective folders.
The mod has all the nedded tweaks into kamchatka.ini and kamchatka_data.ini already present,
HOWEVER to use this terrain in efficient way (ie, not to experience CTDs when loading the map every signle time) please do adjust few

    things in your installation:
The essential is making small adjustments to your flightengine.ini file

    [backgroundSceneClip]
    FarClipDistance=70000

by default uses value of 80000, and while I now use the original value to prevent possible memory crashes use the 70000 value which lowers the loaded terrain "bubble" around the camera.
Also if you do use very extended trees/objects drawing distances (with or without additions of Mue's extra distance fading shaders) I
recommend lowering the DetailMeshSize= values, start with something like 8 or 10 and try if the map loads for you, can then increase this
further, it might be very VERY system-dependent

    Known Bugs:
YES this is test and YES you might get constant CTDs when loading missions; might be very computer or installation dependent. I have
medium-high system and work ok with the values I use in inis. Also can't guarantee if some crazy large scale missions wouldn't prevernt the
terrain OR textures to load, as I have hit some engine limitations during more brutal force tests. That is why the tileset, albeit I have
it in 1024px resolution too, is 512 version.

Also you should have much less of issues when using ObjectsFade=TRUE and not using Mue's extender draw distance shaders. That is because
the sim engine apparently does not have to load ALL the TODs at once during mission loading, just later when need be.
Anyway that is my assumption, I might be totally wrong

    Legal stuff:
CA Fair Use license apply, not to be used as base or part of any sort of payware

    That should be all,
have fun (I hope) and if you are terrain modder, try my method. Again, 500m res is soo 1999 :P

  8. Bombing Range Revamp/Update for SF2

    Bombing Range Revamp/Update for SF2 5/6/2016

= For SF2, any and all (Full 4/5 Merged Reccomended)

This is a revamp/retile of Deuces original "The Range" terrain. Like the original, it's a terrain set up so one may practice Ground Attack and Strike mission against various types of ground targets. Also, finally, there has been the addition of a large "water feature", so now you can practice Anti-shipping missions as well! This will allow you to become familiar with the various types weapons, and their usages.

** REMINDER: there is NO Air-to-Air possible on this terrain. It is designed for attacking ground targets ONLY!! Also, like the companion "Red Range", this terrain is ONLY for Blue Force usage. Trying to fly any Red Force (Soviet, WarPac, etc) aircraft WILL result in lockups, CTDs and other unpleasentness. **

I'm calling this "ver. 4" even though I'm unsure exactly what it should be called! The terrain has been completly retiled in "IME" style tiles. Where necessary (and wanted), a few new TODs has been made with better looking trees. For the most part, however, it's an empty terrain. Home Base is now a Runway 4 allowing for bombers to be used, and has been completly redressed by 331KillerBee with objects from his recently released airfield upgrade kits. Also many other objects from the other various airfield dress-up packs by various other good people have been scattered around, making for a LOT of eye candy.
This is also the first terrain to be (re)released using sets of sub-folders for the various terrain objects. Because of the amount of objects to be loaded, you may experience longer loading times at mission start ups.

Also included is a modified "Single Mission ini" that has had the minimum target values lowered, so the game engine can assign Strike missions against a wide variety of "lesser value" items. This file can be used in ANY mods folder, and will work for all types single missions the game generates.

As always, fairly easy to follow, yet detailed install instructions are included. So, please read them .... Give the "notes" a browse, too! For those unfamiliar with the "cat pointer" lines, there are instructions on it's proper useage.

  9. Sweden, Baltic Rim (1952-1994)

    Sweden, Baltic Rim (1952-1994) Terrain
    March 13th, 2018 (1st Release)
    by Menrva

    >For Strike Fighters 2: Europe, Recommended Full-5 Merged
This is a complete remake of the Sweden terrain made by gillg.
What began as a simple tiling bugfix, for JonathanRL's The Scandinavian Front mod, turned out to be a huge overhaul upon noticing a number of inaccuracies. The terrain has been retargetized and hand-tiled to a good extent; major changes have been done to the Baltic states, which were pretty inaccurate in terms of target locations. Some rivers have been added and/or retiled to mimic Real World courses. Numerous target areas, including airports and highway strips, have been added in order to expand playability, targets of opportunity and year range.
This terrain features a fresh new 250m resolution heightmap (instead of the stock 500m resolution), allowing for greater details and precision in elevation changes; overall it provides the whole terrain with a better look.
The terrain spans from June 13, 1952 (the beginning of the Catalina Affair) to September 1, 1994 (the main withdrawal of Russian forces from the Baltic states); it is designed for The Scandinavian Front's scenarios by JonathanRL, taking place in the Cold War era.
This terrain is a standalone version of the one which will be included in the last iteration of the TSF mod package by JonathanRL. The terrain that will be included in the TSF mod package will likely differ slightly from this one, so users are advised to keep that in mind. Also, this terrain uses only a single tileset. The TSF's version will use different tilesets according to the season, as originally designed by our fellow modder, Stary.
Targets reflect Real World events as accurately as possible; for instance, some airfields won't be available after a certain date and/or will change name according to historic changes. Off Map Airbases have been added and long range AI flights can be generated from them, if you have SF2NA. Most of the main targets have been placed accurately in their Real World locations. Due to the complexity of the area, some inaccuracies are to be expected, but I did my best!
Ground Objects are not included. Download JonathanRL's The Scandinavian Front mod package to have all that you need for this scenario.

    >Credits (in no particular order):
-gillg, who created this terrain and whose work I have admired during my rework. I can only imagine how much time he spent on tiling roads and rivers from scratch!
-JonathanRL, for his exceptional TSF2 mod package, which prompted me to do something to help improve it.
-Wrench, as he is always glad to help us fellow terrain modders. Thank you, sir!
-Stary, for the wonderful tileset he made exclusively for the original Sweden terrain included in the TSF mod package.
-Gepard, for his great tutorials about terrain making, in the SF1 Knowledge Base at CombatACE. It's a gold mine!
-tiopilotos and Stratos, who always support me during my terrain remakes. Thank you, guys!
Because this terrain is a rework of gillg's fantastic creation, I included his ReadMe file from his original package, to the end of giving proper credit to everyone involved directly or not.

  10. SF2 WW2 Northern Europe/North Sea Terrain (v2)

WW2 Northern Europe Terrain for SF2

    - For SF2, Any & All (*Full-4/5 Merged Reccomended*)

This is an all NEW map, covering the Northern UK (Scotland, Orkneys, Shetlands), southern Norway, Denmark, parts of Sweden, Germany, The Netherlands, and LARGE parts of the North Sea.

This map makes use of =BOTH= the LimitedNations and AllowedMission statements. There are =NO= CAS or other Ground Attack mission tasking, other than Armed Recon and Anti-Shipping. Strike, of course, for the bombers, remains (exceedingly!) valid. Armed Recon mission are constrained to within approximately 100km of the coastlines (more or less) for BOTH sides, due to the long over-water distances involved in some parts of the map.

Like the last 2 ETO terrain remods, there is an extensive road network on both sided of the channel (lesser in Norway, of course, due to the tiling constraints and fjords!). As this map was (relatively) designed for anti-shipping strikes, you'll find plenty of them to keep you busy. Plus all the other allowed missions, for both sides.

*Geophysical Disclaimer: some rivers and other water features may not follow their Real Life ™ courses, or be placed in their Real Life ™ locations, or exist at all. Several cities and other physical features (mountains, vallies, coastlines, forests, roads, etc) may also fall into this classification; Some populated places may exist only as a "named place" on the map (even some fairly large, and strategicly important ones). This was done for operational reasons. Many airfields/airports, some of historical significance, may also be non existant or not placed in the Real World ™ locations due to tiling constraints. Bridges may also not be in their Real World ™ locations, or run in their historical directions.*

When in-game, you'll see "Northern Europe, WW2" on the terrain selection dropdown window.

The bare minimum of Ground Objects are supplied; you'd be well adivsed to have the EAWEuro WW2 and Battle of Britain Rebuilds, with their included objects in you ETO mods folder. Other objects are also needed, listed in the "Other Stuff Needed" Section below.

As always, unzip this to a temp folder or your desktop, and you'll have access to the rest of the readme for it's instructions. It's reccomended you read the document through after unzipping, but -BEFORE- installing. As always, the Notes and Other Nonesense section may make for entertaining reading, as it explains a few "oddities" you WILL experience!

Please also read and -OBEY- the New Standard Usage Discalimer ™, as it's been changed slightly to reflect a change in my policy. It's listed at the bottom, in the Legal Statement Section, with the URL back to the CA post.

  11. India-Pakistan Terrain Tweeks Pak

    India-Pakistan Terrain Tweeks Pak
    - For SF2, Any and All -

This is a relatively small tweeks pak for the India-Pakistan terrain. It is to be applied to the original I/P terrain download available at

    http://combatace.com/files/file/11805-india-pakistan-terrain/

There has been a few small changes in the 'eye candy' department, and a slight cleanup of some of the airbases. A few new terrain =AND= GroundObjects have been added, and included for ease of installation. These changes are not major and will not effect much, except adding the recently released fuel truck repaints, both the red and yellow 'followme' jeeps, and little things like that.

A new TFD and HFD are included, as some retiling had to be done. Also, a new "india1" planning map was created. It's just very basic, showing the region.

As always, fairly simple, easy to follow install instructions are included. Please read and follow them. It's pretty straight-forward (for once!)

    Happy Landings!

  12. NovaLogic Terrains

    NovaLogic Terrains
    July 13th, 2021 (1st Release)
    by Menrva and gerwin

    >For Strike Fighters 2, Recommended Full-5 Merged
This package was born after the discovery of similarities between the terrain engine of Strike Fighters and that of NovaLogic's flight sims from the late nineties. Upon my initial idea, gerwin helped make it true with his incredible programming skills; without him, these terrains wouldn't even exist for use on Strike Fighters. This package features not one, not two, but all thirteen terrains converted from all NovaLogic's flight sims. Due to differences between game engines, these terrains are smaller in scale in Strike Fighters compared to how they are in NovaLogic's games. Here below a summary of what's included:
NL01_IslandGreen (Region: Meadow) from F-22 Lightning II
NL02_IslandSnowy (Region: Tundra) from F-22 Lightning II and F-22 Raptor
NL03_Desert1 (Region: Arid) from F-22 Lightning II and F-22 Raptor
NL04_Jungle1 (Region: Forest) from F-22 Lightning II and F-22 Raptor
NL04_Jungle2 (Region: Jungle) from F-16 Multirole Fighter and MiG-29 Fulcrum
NL05_Savannah1 (Region: Woodland) from F-22 Raptor
NL05_Savannah2 (Region: Savanna) from F-16 Multirole Fighter, MiG-29 Fulcrum and F-22 Lightning 3
NL06_Desert2A (Region: Brush) from F-22 Raptor
NL06_Desert2B (Region: Desert) from F-16 Multirole Fighter and MiG-29 Fulcrum
NL07_Steppe (Region: Steppe) from F-16 Multirole Fighter and MiG-29 Fulcrum
NL08_Scrub (Region: Scrub) from F-16 Multirole Fighter, MiG-29 Fulcrum and F-22 Lightning 3
NL09_Glacial (Region: Glacial) from F-16 Multirole Fighter, MiG-29 Fulcrum and F-22 Lightning 3
    NL10_IslandJungle (Region: Tropical) from F-22 Lightning 3
These terrains feature 500m resolution heightmaps and original low-res tilesets (tweaked for the Strike Fighters engine). Each terrain is meant to represent a generic region of the world. Nations are properly limited to ones coherent with each setting, and island terrains enable the use of naval fleets and aircraft carriers. As such, these terrains are meant to be used in a full-5 merged mod folder of all SF2 titles. At this stage very few target areas have been added to each terrain, providing basic support for all mission types, so just enjoy quick missions against the enemy; hopefully these terrains will be completed with more details one day.
About development, gerwin took care of reverse engineering NovaLogic's files and converting them to SF2 format, plus writing the tools for that. Me and him manually fixed most water alpha channels and adjusted colors in few tiles. Design choices such as target areas, routes, terrain height and surroundings, are mine; if you have any suggestions about this package, contact me.

    >Credits (in no particular order):
-gerwin, for converting these terrains to the Strike Fighters game engine and for expanding his awesome tools with new features. I included his very nice Airfield 7+8 Addon Pack, too.
-Wrench, for permission to upload this package which is based on outdated assets from old games.

    >Disclaimer:
This is a freeware; yet it can be redistributed ONLY in other CombatACE mods/mod packages.
Any changes to the package's files and/or any copy-and-paste attempts of their contents are NOT authorized if you plan to release them in other mods. But permission might be granted to those who request it to me at CombatACE.
This mod may NOT in any way, shape or form be used in any payware additions.

  13. Formosa Upgrade 2: Airfields Fixes & Other Small Tweeks

Formosa Terrain Update -- Parked Aircraft Fixes (and some other stuff)

Yet more updating of the Formosa terrain, that adds game-generated parked aircraft to Gepard's NATO/WarPac style airbases that are used. Also included are some modified inis that create the LimitedNations (from my recently released pack), some additons to the _Types ini, some targeting tweeks, a 'generic' PLAN Destroyer, modified GermanyCE airbase inis, with increaed parking chances, and a few other little things here and there. You'll have to fly around to find them.

Designed for use with Stary's new terrain tiles, you should have his upgrade installed before adding this one. Although there is very little possibility of conflicts (as this was built with his new stuff in my terrain), it never hurts to be safe, huh??

Speaking of ground objects, you'll find as mentioned, a stand-in PLAN destroyer, inis for Grinch's Fletcher with a new UserList (these were in the Libya 3.75 upgrade, but some folks may not have installed them), AND... a working Silkworm launcher and Styx missile.

While designed for SF2 usage, all the inis are in ANSI, and can easily be used on 1st Gen SF/Wo* versions. However, the Styx missils IS set up for SF2 only. Those knowledgable with weapons editing can easily down-convert to 08 1st Gen levels.

As always, READ the enclosed document for full install instructions.

  14. SF2:NA -- Iceland Targets Tweek Pak, V.1

    IcelandNA Targets Tweek for SF2:NA

    = For SF2NA, And/Or Full-5 Merged Installs ONLY!! =

*Note: for the SF2:NA IcelandNA map ONLY!!! It may be usable on Gerwins TFD/HFD based terrain, but many items will need repositioning due to the existence of actual coastlines*

Some very basic enhancements to the target areas on Iceland, to increase the 'eye candy' and try to make it loook like people actually live there. Using the basic layout of several stock 'cities', filling in some gaps.

As to be expected, there are at least 2 Easter Eggs on this terrain - one real, one fictional. I've tried to keep the needed ground objects to a minimum, so they are not included. You should have them from other terrain mods. (fishing trawlers, small cargo ship). Tried to keep it a 'stock' as possible. However, some enhancements have been perfromed on Air Defenses on both sides, but a -very- minimum, just in case things change radically with the next patch.

As always, unzip this to a temp folder or your desktop, and you'll have access to the rest of the readme for it's instructions. It's reccomended you read the document through after unzipping, but BEFORE installing.

  17. Korea MiG-Alley terrain

    Korea MiG-Alley 1.0
    *****************************************************
This terrain is written for SF2.
    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
    I. Short description:
2013, five years ago i decided to start work on a Korea terrain, especially for Korea War. As usual for me i wanted to creat a more or less 100% scaled terrain, in contrast to the 66% scales which the TerrainEditor is usually made for us. It was a slow progress work. Now, five years later, i release the first version of Korea MiG-Alley terrain.
Korea MiG-Alley terrain does not cover entire korean peninsula. It is focused on the so called MiG-Alley. The MiG-Alley was an area in north west Korea which was controlled and patroled by MiG-15 planes, which were based on airfields in China.
The chinese airbases were out of "reach" for the UN Air Forces. Out of reach meant, it was not allowed to bomb or straff this bases.
MiG-Alley terrain is made for simulating the air warfare of the Air Forces, not the Navy, during the Korea War from 1949 to 1953. The terrains timeframe is set from 1949 to 1955.
Active airfields you will find in China and in South Korea. Airfields in North Korea are in building stage, what means they cant be used by the red side. But they are targets for the blue guys.
You will find a lot of ground targets in the MiG-Alley. Bridges, factories, railway stations etc. All are heavily defended by Flak artillery. You will find some ship traffic along the west coast and some truck convois in the MiG-Alley.
There are also targets of opportunities, like fuel depots consists of fuel barrels. If you find one, bomb it!
    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
    II. INSTALLATION:
Unzip all files into your saved game mod folder ...ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2 .
To run this terrain properly you need to link it to an terrains CAT file.
From stock the terrain is prepared to link with SF2 Israel
If you dont have SF2I you must open the file KoreaMiGAlley.ini with Windows notepad editor.
    Look for the lines:
    CatFile=..\IsraelME\IsraelME.cat
    //CatFile=..\GermanyCE\GermanyCE.cat
    //CatFile=..\VIETNAMSEA\VietnamSEA.cat
    //CatFile=..\Desert\Desert.cat
Add // in front of  CatFile=..\IsraelME\IsraelME.cat  to switch ot off.
Then remove // at one of the other lines. Which you should remove depends on which SF2 game you have installed.
    Save it.

    Thats it.

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
    III. Credits.
The TOD's, what means the trees and autogenerated houses on the map, are mostly taken from various tilesets made by Stary.
The dam files were made by Swambast.
The basic files for the taxiways, parking areas and quais are made by ErikGen.
I cant remember who gave me the ponton bridges, the airfield tower and the locomotive files.
Please contact me, that i can give you the proper credit.

IV. This Terrain is Freeware. Commercial use is not allowed.

Tested on all four SF2 titles......both stand alone and merged.

This is part 2 (of 2 uploads to complete the range mod)
First set of 8 drones and one drone controller included.
Bonus set of F-4N Phantom "hunter-killers"
    Batteries not included.

Use of the DT-28B Trojan requires access to the A-team Skunkworks download files. This access is however...NOT...required to use the Mescalero Range or any other aircraft/drone.

  21. North Cape Terrain (Beta+) for SF2 by Baltika

North Cape terrain (Beta+) by Baltika for SF2

A slight revamp of the 1stGen Beta terrain, with all new tga tiles for the sea and sea/land transition tiles (aka: "Working Water"). Consider this perhaps as a kinda sorta Ver. 0.8

As with the original release, the targeting is not finished, but at least now the water will work. The data ini has been brought up to the latest standards (as of Aug 2011). I did do some cleanup on the targets ini, but nothing major.

I figured with all the Swedish aircraft now available, this would be a fun sandbox (ok, snowbox) for them to play in. Eventually, I'm sure somebody will get around to finishing it!

As always, unzip this to a temp folder or your desktop, and you'll have access to the rest of the readme for it's instructions.

    Have fun!

  22. SF2 Update, Modern Darwin terrain

    Modern Darwin Terrain, Update Pak

For SF2 - Full-4 Merged Reccomended (but not fully required)

This is an update pak for the Modern Darwin/Timor terrain I released in 2009. It is designed to replace some small bits inside, so you =MUST= have the 2009 update pak for this terrain to install -this- package into.
You can find it at the following URL (this is the complete terrain, WITH tiles):

    http://combatace.com/files/file/6089-modern-darwintimor/

This pak updates several inis to SF2 levels, adds a few little fixes to some terrain objects, and for the 12/2010 patch, adds the _Water.bmp that the new mission builder requires. Targeting remains the same, although the Runway2 has been 'repaved' to a full concrete/macdam surface (no more dirt). Some "other items" have also been updated.

The LimitedNations statement has NOT been added, so anyone and everyone can fly here.

As always, unzip this to a temp folder or your desktop, and you'll have access to the rest of the readme for it's instructions. REMINDER: this is NOT for the DAT's Timor terrain in their all-inclusive "Wings Over Timor" mod!!! This is for the terrain update listed above ==ONLY==!!!!

    Happy Landings!

  23. Hawaii, Central Pacific (1959-2028)

    Hawaii, Central Pacific (1959-2028) Terrain
    December 13th, 2020 (1st Release)
    by Menrva

    >For Strike Fighters 2: Vietnam, Recommended Full-5 Merged
This is a complete remake of the Hawaii terrain. Unlike the original one released by Wrench, which is not in full Real World scale, this new terrain was made and tiled from scratch, and it features all the main Hawaiian islands in full scale, with more cities and pretty accurate elevation details.
A better looking and more complete tileset has been added. Numerous target areas, such as small civilian airports, have been added in order to expand playability, targets of opportunity and year range.
This terrain features a fresh new 250m resolution heightmap (instead of the stock 500m resolution), allowing for greater details and precision in elevation changes; overall it provides the whole terrain with a better look.
The terrain spans from August 21, 1959 (when Hawaii officially became the 50th American State) to December 31, 2028; it is designed for fictional clashes between Red forces (namely Russia and China) and all of the American services (USAF, USN and USMC). The island of Kauai is added to Red Side for better gameplay; imagine it as the first step of a hostile invasion of Hawaii. All mission types are available, including CAS and Armed Recon.
Targets reflect Real World events as accurately as possible; for instance, some airfields will appear only after a certain year, according to historic changes. If you have SF2NA, naval fleets will spawn in the Pacific Ocean. Also, Off Map Airbases have been added and long range AI flights can be generated from them. All main targets have been placed accurately in their Real World locations.
Ground Objects are not included. You can obtain the most needed from Wrench's original Hawaii terrain release.

    >Credits (in no particular order):
-Wrench, for his permission to use his target areas from the original, smaller scale Hawaii terrain.
-swambast, who provided me with invaluable help in tracking and fixing common and uncommon bugs, and for allowing me to include his exclusive Pearl Harbor Memorial 3d model (which you cannot redistribute).
-JSF_Aggie, for his great Hi-Res Runway Textures v2.0 which I included.
-Stary, for the hi-res Okinawa tileset he made, which I have reworked and expanded.
Because this terrain re-uses some of the original target area layouts by Wrench from his previously released Hawaii terrain, I included the ReadMe files from his original package, to the end of giving proper credit to everyone involved directly or not.

  24. WW2 Battle of Britain Terrain for SF2

WW2 Battle of Britain Terrain for SF2 8/16/2013

    - For SF2, (Full 5 Merged REQUIRED!!!*)

"The Battle of France is over; the Battle of Britain is about to begin..."

This is a (nearly complete) rebuild of the Battle of Britain map by Gepard.
It has been brought (as much as possible) up to SF2 standards, at the May 2013 patch level. It it designed for use in WW2 ETO mods folders built =FROM= the SF2:NA exe.
The terrain has also been completely (well, nearly ~98.6%) retiled using the GermanyCE tile set. Please see the "Notes" section for more info on the tiles. There ARE some custom tiles and TODs.

If you have the original version, or any updated versions, it's suggested you move THAT terrain sub-folder to a storage section, rename it, or delete it from your WW2 ETO mods folder. This version =WILL= completly replace it.

This is map covers western France and Southern England, from Paris to Brisol (east and west) and RAF Whittering to Breast (n/s), with the majority of the target areas in S/E England, and the French Channel Coast. For other targets further inland, and later time frames, it's reccomened you use my EAW WW2 Euro Rebuild, as it's much more detailed and covers a substantially larger area.

This map makes use of the LimitedNations, AllowedDates and AllowedMission statements. There are =NO= CAS routes, ground attack missions are limited to Armed Recon and Anti-Shipping. Strike, of course, for the bombers, remains valid (expecially for the Luftwaffe!). Armed Recon mission are constrained to within approximately 100km of the coastlines (more or less) for BOTH sides. As this map is more designed for the defense of England, rather than cross-channel RAF strikes, this works well (also, vice versa for Luftwaffe bombers and fighters). For those wanting more, use the EAW Euro WW2 rebuild.

OTH, since there is (nearly) enough sea room, several SF2NA "ship zones" are placed on the water bmp. This allows for the generation of Kriegsmarine Surface Action Groups, as well as CV operations for the Royal Navy. If you find these historically offensive, a second _water.bmp is provided, withOUT the zones. A simple bmp rename, and text edit of the terrain's main ini will remove this function. Instructions are in the "Notes" section.

There are some new GroundObjects included; these are ALL at the latest SF2 patch level, and will replace any others. Most are Raven's new LW radars (the Natter SAM is NOT included, as it's 1945 start date is outside this maps operational life span), and some ships by Stephan1918, imported from FE2, and modifided for SF2 usage .

*Geophysical Disclaimer: some rivers and other water features may NOT follow their Real Life ™ courses, or be placed in their Real Life ™ locations, or exist at all. Several cities and other physical features may also fall into this classification; Some populated places may exist only as "named places" on the map. This was done for historical reasons. Many airfields/airports, some of historical significance, may also not exist or placed in the Real Life ™ locations due to tiling constraints.*

When in-game, you'll still see "Battle of Britain" on the terrain selection dropdown window.

It's reccomended you unzip this to a temp folder or your desktop, and you'll have access to the rest of the readme for it's instructions. It's reccomended you read the document through after unzipping, but =BEFORE= installing.
As always, the Notes and Other Nonesense section may make for entertaining reading.

Please also read -and Obey- the New Standard Usage Discalimer, as it's been modified to reflect changes in my policy. It's listed at the bottom, in the Legal Statement Section, with the URL back to the CA post.

  25. Phillipines Islands 1944, WW2 PTO Terrain for SF2

Phillipines Islands 1944, WW2 PTO Terrain for SF2

    - For SF2, Any & All (Full-5 Merged Reccomended)

= For Adventures in the Western Pacific =

*Note: this pack includes the PI 44 update pak released sometime back. It is designed for the timeframe of the US Invasion of Leyte in late 1944. It uses SF2NA statements for carrier-based operations. Hence, your PTO mods folder =SHOULD= (read: MUST) be built from the SF2NA exe. It is designed to REPLACE, in total, any eariler versions.*

**Note2: IMPORTANT! Make sure you have the WW2 ground objects!!**

This map repsents the situation in the Phillipines from approximately October thru December 1944, just after the US Invasion of Leyte. To that end, the eastern regions of Leyte, and southern Samar are conisdered (somewhat) 'secured' and in Allied hands. The rest of the country is still "Occupied Territory".

The LimitedNations statement is set to TRUE, allowing only for the regional powers that took part. The terrain also makes use of the 'AllowedDates" statement, preventing use BEFORE October 1944 (but dosen't seem to be working quite right post 7/13 patch)

LOTS of new tiles and their associated TODs have been created, and match the Green Hell 3 styling. There is also, as expected, a few Easter Eggs.

Also included are several (ok, LOTS) GroundObjects, some you may have already, but a few are new. Some are updates of ships, tanks, truck and etc seen in my other terrain mods. These are designed to REPLACE any pre-existing ones I've done. Be advised, you'll still need many of the other WW2 PTO objects I've included in other terrain mod paks. Make sure you have them!!!

REMEMBER: you will need the latest WW2 weapons and Guns pack! Some are supplied, but just to be safe...

**Geophysical Disclaimer: some rivers and other water features may not follow their Real Life ™ courses, or be placed in their Real Life ™ locations, or exist at all. Several cities and other physical features may also fall into that classification. Some cities exist as 'named places' only. Some airfields may not be in their historical locaitons due to Height Field and other tiling restrictions.**

As always, unzip this to a temp folder or your desktop, and you'll have access to the rest of the readme for it's instructions. It's reccomended you READ this document through after unzipping, but BEFORE installing.

Again, as always, the Notes and Other Nonesense section may make for entertaining reading.

Please also read the New Standard Usage Discalimer, as it's been changed slightly to reflect a change in my policy. It's listed at the bottom, in the Legal Statement Section, with the URL back to the CA post.
