  1. Desert Terrain V.4

This is the latest (and my final) version of the Desert terrain. After months of tweaking and testing I've come to realise that this is as good as I'm going to get it.
So thus I've decided to just release it to the masses and see how it goes....

Desert 4 is similar to Desert V.3 albeit with a few important differences:
    1. MOST IMPORTANTLY!!! - This terrain has been navalised, so you'll need to have SF2:NA in order to have missions work the way they should.
As to whether this terrain will work without SF2:NA , I'm not sure and I can't guarantee it; but you're free to give it a try.
    2. This terrain is based on the STOCK DESERT TERRAIN, so DON'T use the tiles from V3 as that mod is based on Polak's desert terrain. The tiles
along the coast will be totally messed up.
    3. D9 and D10 Airbases are still based in the mountainous north-western region of the map. However, the problem of having AI flights crashing
into a nearby mountain soon after take-off from D10 has been solved by removing the hill in question. Huge thanks has to go to to Baffmeister
for his work with that! Credit also has to go to Baffmeister for the surface levelling and re-tiling work around those and other airbases, as
well as his work on the islands.
    4. The tiles are the work of JSF_Aggie, which are a huge improvement from the stock ones. Note: the tiles within the terrain folder have been
resized to 512 X 512 pixels for better framerate performance. But for those with higher spec PCs, you can get the full size tiles in the
    download section here:
    http://combatace.com/files/file/12368-hi-res-desert-tiles/
    5. I've used Stary's excellent Desert Ground Environment mod, which for that region of the world, brings 110% more realism to town and city
regions, with more realistic buildings and trees.
    6. More target areas have been added, as well as a few more "Easter Eggs". So get flyin' and start lookin'!

  2. Desert3 Terrain

UPDATED DESERT TERRAIN V1.3 FOR SF2

SF2 has always been my favourite of all the platforms; and after downloading and using the various terrain mods for SF2E and SF2V with hungry anticipation I decided to HEAVILY modify the stock Desert terrain with more than enough of eye candy.

    DESCRIPTION:

Without giving too much away, the geographical story is now as follows:

*As well as Dhimar and Paran, I've added Sharnak from baffmeister's Desert 2 terrain (my inspiration for this), now a colony which is known as the British Protectorate of Sharnak. RAF squadrons are permanently based there. A couple of other bases, border posts and the like have also been added from Desert 2
*I always thought that D9 and D10 airfields were always a little too close to the border. They've now been moved to the Dhimari 'wastelands' which you'll see on the centre left side of the enclosed planning map
*About ten SAM sites have been added to various locations on Dhimar and the amount of SAM sites across Paran has been hugely increased, the biggest increase being Paran's capital city of Kurzah; which in SAM site and Flak battery terms is now more like Hanoi during the Vietnam War.
*Ships, cranes, oil tanks, warehouses and the like have been added to ports on both sides. Now the capital cities of Muthala and Kurzah, have extensive docklands. Other coastal towns have at least one docking area for shipping.
*(15TH AUG 2010): Inspired by JSF Aggie's SF2 Range terrain, all airfields on both sides have been extensively facelifted and given a new lease of life by re-populating them with huge amounts of groundobjects, both new and old. They now look a lot more like real life airfields instead of that deserted 'Chernobyl International Airport' look in the default airfields. All airfields have also been re-catagorised into two different groups; 'Red' and 'Blue'. For example, a Dhimari DESERT_AIRFIELD4 will now be 'BLUE_AIRFIELD4' and a Parani one will now be 'RED_AIRFIELD4'. New trucks have been added as default groundobjects so they'll have to be downloaded elsewhere on the site (see 'Installation' for details).
*(24TH MARCH 2012): All neccessary INI files have been updated to March 2012 standard. RAF Canopic is now called "Canopic AFB" and is a full-time U.S. Air Force facility. All friendly airfields and some enemy airfields have been enhanced further by adding more groundobjects and in general just tidying up and re-arranging buildings, etc. Offshore oil wells have been situated off the Sharnak and Dhimari coasts. U.S. bomber flights can now attack Paran via the off-map airbase at Diego Garcia. Army bases have been added across Dhimar and in Sharnak for you to defend from Parani bomber attacks.

    ----------------------------------

    INSTALLATION (PLEASE READ CAREFULLY):

Simply unzip the FILE and put the enclosed 'DESERT3' folder into your Terrain folder. NOTE: Please ensure that you drop the enclosed groundobjects into you mod folder, otherwise there'll be no trucks anywhere in Dhimar and no oil rigs in the offshore oilfields!!

Important Note: If you don't already have these, you should download them from the SF1 downloads section, otherwise they won't show up:
*SAMs & Vehicles Pack with Desert Skins by Pasko.
    *Soviet Transport Pack by Kesselbrut.
    *M109A6 Paladin by rebel ryder.

  3. East Africa/Madagascar Terrain, Version 2.0 for SF/Wo* and SF2

    East Africa/Madagascar Terrain, Version 2.0 for SF/Wo* and SF2

This is a complete rebuild of the terrain originaly released in June 2004. It has been extensively retiled, and has had a MAJOR upgrade in the targetization. It is designed to COMPLETELY replace that original version. It has been fully updated to use in the post-patch and SF2 worlds.

This is a COMPLETE package, with everything needed to just unzip, install, and fly over. All the tiles are included, including Stary's "Mad Trees Mod", creating a more 'lush' version. Many new TODs have been created, so you'll see lots of trees and small buildings in and around the cites.

Extensive upgrading has been performed on the targets, types, data and movement inis , to make use of 08 and SF2 level terrain effects, and the targeting enhancements. New planning maps of all 3 levels have been generated and included.

It is reccomended (read: REQUIRED) that you have Pasko's SAMs and Vehicles Pak installed in your GroundObject folder; either or both the Desert or Euro skinned vehicles, plus any additional vehicles such as Kesselbrut's ZIL truck pak, Infantry paks, Moonjumper's fix for the BM-14-16 (adds working Kytusha rockets) and any other SAMS or AAA, vehicles or whatever strikes your fancy.

It has been tested in all 1st Gen Sims (SF/WoV/WoE/ at 10/08 patch levels) and SF2 (merged).. It should work in FE & WoI (also post Expansion Pak and Post Patch) with the correct cat pointer -- this has NOT been tested, however. It should will work in SF2, as long as you adjust the cat pointer lines in the main ini, and 'reroute' the terrain effect pointer (more on that in the install instructions, below). However, with the old style terrain effects, it works just fine.

Yes, for those expecting it, there IS at least one Easter Egg on this terrain ...

MAKE SURE YOU THOROUGHLY READ THE README ON HOW TO USE IT IN ALL SIMS! or you will be clowned...big time.....

  4. Eastern Mediterranean Terrain for SF2

    Eastern Mediterranean Terrain for SF2

    = For SF2, Any and All =

This is a complete rebuild of the WW2 "North Africa" terrain by Edward, for use in modern time (ie: 1970s-to date). It has been completely rebuilt, from the bottom up, and completely retiled using a 'combo set' of various and sundry imported tiles. Also, there are =MANY= totally new tiles, and their assiciated TODs, that can be used for either the Desert or the IsrealME terrain. Read: lots of new transitions that fill in 99.9% of the blanks of the original tilesets.

This terrain does =NOT= have the SF2NA "NavalMap" statement activated, either on the _waterbmp or in any ini. It is designed =ONLY= for ground-based air forces. It is highly suggested it remain as such.
The LimitedNations statement is set to TRUE, and Egypt is now classed (on this terrain ONLY!) as a Friendly Nation. Don't be surprised to see IDF birds parked on EAF bases, or EAF birds in Turkey and Greece!

This terrain covers the area from the bottom of the Gulf of Sirte (S/E corner), north to central Greece, east to western Turkey (Anatolia), back south to Egypt, as far east as the Suez Canal. Covering the Eastern Med, Crete, Agean Sea, and points in-between.
See the planning maps for full coverage. It'll make a nice companion Map for both the Modern Libya, and PureBlue's Anatolia terrains.

Those familiar with Edward's orignal WW2 version will recognize the base region, but the targeting and tileing have been completly redone, and is more reflective of the Real World ™. Place names have been changed to local spelling (where discoverable, spellable and pronounable). Expect to find several World Heritage Sites scattered around and, as always, the occasional Easter Egg.

Also included is a modifiend SingleMission.ini, that adjusts the minimum values for various missions.

Geophysical Disclaimer: some rivers and other water features may not follow their Real Life ™ courses, be placed in their Real Life ™ locations, or exist at all. Several cities and other physical features, and target areas will also fall into that classification. Some target areas (cities, etc) exist only as named places, with no strategic or tactical values. Just someplace to fly over.

As always, unzip this to a temp folder or your desktop, and you'll have access to the rest of the readme for it's instructions. It's reccomended you read the document through after unzipping, but -BEFORE- installing. As always, the Notes and Other Nonesense section may make for entertaining reading.

Please also read the New Standard Usage Discalimer, as it's been changed slightly to reflect a change in my policy. It's listed at the bottom, in the Legal Statement Section, with the URL back to the CA post.

  5. Ecuador, Northwest South America (1981-1998)

Ecuador, Northwest South America (1981-1998) Terrain
    August 13th, 2018 (1st Release)
    by Menrva, tiopilotos and Stratos

    >For Strike Fighters 2, Recommended Full-5 Merged
I am proud to present a new scratch-made terrain, the result of a joint effort of modders! Initially conceived by Centurion-1, the terrain was later salvaged by Stratos, who offered to help in its development together with tiopilotos. Stratos helped by hand-tiling most if not all the incredibly long rivers in the Amazon rainforest. The terrain later received an impressive tileset produced by tiopilotos! You guys have my deepest gratitude!
The terrain completely covers Ecuador, a great portion of Peru, and even touches Colombia and Brasil. However, only Peru and Ecuador have been targetized at this stage. Numerous target areas, such as civilian airports and airstrips, have been added in order to expand playability, targets of opportunity and year range.
This terrain features a fresh new 250m resolution heightmap (instead of the stock 500m resolution), allowing for greater details and precision in elevation changes; overall it provides the whole terrain with a better look.
The terrain spans from January 28, 1981 (the beginning of the Paquisha Incident) to October 26, 1998 (when a resolution of the Ecuadorian-Peruvian territorial dispute was agreed upon through the Brasilia Presidential Act); it is designed for the Paquisha War of 1981 and the Cenepa War of 1995. Most air-to-ground missions (armed recon, close air support, etc.) take place at the border between Peru and Ecuador, to provide an even more realistic scenario. As in reality, there are few SAM sites placed at their precise Real World locations.
Targets reflect Real World events as accurately as possible; for instance, some border outposts will appear only after a certain year, according to historic changes. Off Map Airbases have been added and long range AI flights can be generated from them, if you have SF2NA.
Ground Objects are not included. It's up to the user to find and obtain anything that can be useful for the proposed terrain's scenarios.

    >Credits (in no particular order):
-Centurion-1, for his interest in recreating such scenario in the Strike Fighters world. I heard RL got in your way, so... best of luck, mate!
-tiopilotos, for the massive tileset he produced, and for his continuous support in all my terrain modding efforts. Thank you very much!
-Stratos, for he brought to attention Centurion-1's unfinished terrain and offered to help realize it.
-swambast, who provided me with invaluable help in tracking and fixing common and uncommon bugs.
-gerwin, whose TFDtool has proved to be essential in today's terrain making. If the terrain is pretty accurate to RL it's also because of him. I included his very nice Airfield 7+8 Addon Pack, too.
-mue, for the improved shaders he made, which I have included and reworked for the terrain, and for the tools he made for SF2 modding.
-luk1978, for the waternormal bitmap he shared at the SF2 screenshots thread. Your mods are very interesting!
-MigBuster, I have included some of his great hi-res textures for runways.
-Stary, for the various hi-res tilesets and TODs he made, which have been re-used in this tileset.
-Gepard, for his great tutorials about terrain making, in the SF1 Knowledge Base at CombatACE. It's a gold mine!
-krfrge, who has produced a tutorial for recreating SF2-like planning maps, which prompted me to work on templates and my own high quality planning maps. Thank you very much!
-comrpnt, for his Approach and Airfield Lighting Pack mod packages for SF1 series, which I reworked and included.
Although scratch-made, the terrain makes use of most objects and target layouts from Wrench's Panama terrain; because of this, I included the ReadMe file from that package, to the end of giving proper credit to everyone involved directly or not.

    >Disclaimer:
This is a freeware; yet it can be redistributed ONLY in other CombatACE mods/mod packages.
Any changes to the terrain package's files and/or any copy-and-paste attempts of their contents are NOT authorized if you plan to release them in other mods. But permission might be granted to those who request it to me at CombatACE.
This terrain may NOT in any way, shape or form be used in any payware additions.

  6. Eritrea/Ethiopia Terrain for SF2

    Eritrea/Ethiopia Terrain for SF2
= For SF2, Any and All (Full-4 Merged Reccomended)

This terrain is a rebuild version of the 'beta - (minus)' uploaded by Wingwinner some years ago. It has been completly rebuilt, from the HFD up.

This terrain also uses JSF_Aggie's Enhanced Desert tiles, with the tile set =GREATLY= expanded, with many new tiles, many tiles with minor & major corrections and repairs, and LOTS and LOTS of custom TODs. The area covered includes parts of Somilia, Djbouti, a little of eastern Yemen, Ethiopia, Eritrea, and Sudan as far west as the Nile rivers (Blue & White) confluence at Khartoum.

The 'addon' terrain objects have been kept to a minimum. Stock in-game items have been used in most cases, although some additional units may (or may not!) be required. Add-on GroundObjects, while heavily listed in the _Types.ini, have been kept to as small amount as possible. See "Notes" for what you might need. You've probably got most of them already. Some additions to several Userlists for both Stock 3W and 3rd Party add-ons (in particular for some SAM units) have been included, as several nations simply weren't listed.

Limited Nations, Limited Missions and Operations years do NOT reflect the Real World ™. Eritrea did not exist until 1991; the map has the standard "all years spread". However, the various nations are listed in the Eritera_Nations.ini, but none of the Limitations are active.

Geophysical Disclaimer: some rivers and other water features may not follow their Real Life ™ courses, or be placed in their Real Life ™ locations, or even exist as such. Several cities and other physical features may also fall into that classification (ie: mountains, hills, valleys, etc). Some cities may also NOT have
all their proper Real Life ™ industries, facilities and other building classifications, or be fully loaded with 'target objects'. Accuracy has been strived for in all cases, to reflect the Real World ™. As much as is possible with this Engine.

This map also makes use of the 'Expanded Borders' mod, wherein you make changes to the FlightEngine.ini. Instructions on making this adjustment are included (if you haven't already).
Please note, that when unzipped, the terrain folder will be quite large (~350 megs) due to the size of the tiles -they're 1024x. Make sure you have enough space.

As always, unzip this to a temp folder or your desktop, and you'll have access to the rest of the readme for it's instructions. It's reccomended (ie: REQUIRED!!!) you read the document through after unzipping, before installing. As always, the Notes and Other Nonesense section may make for entertaining reading.
It's most important that the legal disclaimer at the bottom be read and complied with. There has been a change in policy with regards to =ALL= my terrain mods.

  7. Ethiopia, African Horn (1977-1990)

    Ethiopia, African Horn (1977-1990) Terrain
    December 13th, 2021 (1st Release)
    by Menrva

    >For Strike Fighters 2, Recommended Full-5 Merged
I am proud to present a brand new terrain made from scratch! Initially proposed in private by tiopilotos, I later decided to create it in order to offer an accurate playground for different conflicts never recreated in Strike Fighters.
The terrain completely covers Ethiopia, Eritrea and Djibouti, and a great portion of Somalia and Yemen. The tileset, based on JSF_Aggie's Desert repaint and Centurion-1's Desert 4 add-on, has been greatly expanded with necessary transition tiles. Expect long and very accurate river courses and all major lakes, the reddish deserts of the Horn of Africa and the green highlands of Ethiopia.
The terrain spans from July 13, 1977 (the beginning of the Ogaden War) to May 21, 1990 (the day before the unification of Yemen). This terrain is adapt for historical scenarios such as the Ogaden War and the Second Yemenite War of 1979 between North Yemen and South Yemen.
Targets reflect Real World events as accurately as possible. Off Map Airbases have been added and long range AI flights can be generated from them. Having SF2NA is a must, as I have enabled naval ops; if your mod folder contains American, British and French aircraft carriers, sometimes you'll see fleets being generated in single missions.
Ground Objects are not included. You can obtain the most needed ones from Wrench's old Eritrea/Ethiopia terrain release.

-JSF_Aggie, for his great Hi-Res Runway Textures v2.0 which I included, and for the hi-res desert tileset.
-Centurion-1, for expanding JSF_Aggie's tileset with more variety for the Desert4 terrain by Piecemeal.
-tiopilotos, for his continuous support in all my terrain modding efforts. Thank you very much!
-Stary, for old .TOD files which add trees and buildings on some tiles of this terrain.
-Gepard, for his great tutorials about terrain making, in the SF1 Knowledge Base at CombatACE. It's a gold mine!

Somaliland is still considered as Somalia since Somaliland is not officially recognized, though you can spot the Somaliland flag over some of its cities.

  9. Faroe Islands terrain

    Faroe islands 1.0
    *****************************************************
This terrain is written for SF2NA.
    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
    I. Short description:
North of Scotland you will find small groups of islands, the Shetlands and the Faroe. They are nothing more than tiny rocks, surrounded by the icy waters of the Atlantic Ocean. On the first view completly unimportant rocks somewhere in the nowhere. But a second view shows high economical values. The islands sitting in the middle of rich fishing grounds, and then, even more, there is oil. North Sea oil.
But not enough. A powerfull nation, that is able to install a base at the Faroe, rules all the waters between Iceland and the british islands. A hostile nation might be even able to raise a blockade over Great Britain.
    This makes some scenarios possible:
First the classical what if the Soviets would had captured the Faroe and the US Navy starts an attempt to push them out.
Second, what if America sends the Marines?
Third, what if Britain tries to defeat the Soviets with own power?
Forth, what if Hitler-Germany would have captured the Faroe?
Fifth, what if the EU raise a blockade over a Brexit UK?
Sixth, what if Britain was bought by President Trump instead Greenland and John Bull stand up to fight fort the british independence?

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
    II. INSTALLATION:
To run this terrain you need SF2NorthAtlantic.

Unzip all files into your saved game folder ...ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2NorthAtlantic /terrain folder.

    Thats it.
    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
    III. Modifications
Faroe islands terrain is made so, that you can play it out of the box. You will find a classic Cold war scenario US Navy vs Soviet forces.
    Other possible scenarios are prepared.
Open the folder Goodies and you will find the folder Nation ini
In this folder you find 6 subfolders, one for each scenarios i have descriped above.
    Choose the one you like.
In this subfolders you find the file FAEROER_NATION.ini.
Copy this file to the Faeroer folder and let overwrite the existing file and enjoy the other scenario. (BTW personaly i prefer Brexit scenario. Flying Hunters vs Hunters is really fun.)

Faroe islands terrain is made so, that you has 2 fixed carrer stations. For the red side a station north of the Shetlands. For the blue side south of the Faroes.
If you want to have multible carrier stations, than you must open the Subfolder "multible carrier stations" and copy the file FAROE_WATER.bmp to the Faroe folder.

When i started to make Faroe islands terrain i used TOD files made by M.Broers for the IcelandNA HFD terrain. Later i found out, that on the Faroes no trees exist. So i decided to remove the TOD files. If you want trees and TOD buildings, the copy the tod files in the Faroe folder. But be aware, there are not all tiles fitted with tods. It looks a little bit strange.

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
    IV. Credits.
The basic Tileset i took from M.Breors terrain IcelandNA HFD.
The basic files for the emergency runways, parking areas and quais are made by ErikGen.
The OilRig was made by RussoUK for my PersianGulf terrain.
I hope i have not forgotten someone.
    .
    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
    V. This Terrain is Freeware. Commercial use is not allowed.
And i say it again for the YAP, YankeeAirPirates file thiefs, the use of this terrain and parts of  the terrain for commercial use is not allowed.
    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

  10. Formosa - WW2 PTO Terrain for SF2

    Formosa - WW2 PTO Terrain for SF2 8/6/2014

    - For SF2, Any & All (Full 5 Merged Reccomended)

= For Adventures in the Far Western Pacific =

This terrain is a rebuild of a very old 1stGen "Cold War" version. There was no readme with it, and I've not been able to find who originally created it.
It has been converted to a WW2 terrain, representing the situation from November, 1944 through the War's End (although, in Real Life, the air campaing didn't start until January, 1945). For gaming purposes, northern Luzon is considered "secure", and USAAF units will be flying from airfields there. For the USN/BPF, there are SF2NA style "CV Stations" (hence the need for a Full-5 merged install, and the PTO mods folder built FROM the SF2NA exe) in the Eastern Pacific, and South China Sea. There is no station for Japanese Naval units as the Imperial Navy, for the most part, had ceased to exist.

There many new GroundObject and Terrain Objects included in this terrain mod. All (if not most of) the other Ground Objects you should already have.

The LimitedNations statement is set to TRUE, allowing only for 'regional powers'. The AllowedMission= statement is active, as there are =NO= Ground Attack routes (ie: CAs missions) The terrain also makes use of the 'AllowedDates" statement, preventing use BEFORE November, 1944. But there are plenty of truck and shipping routes, and LOTS of places for STRIKE missions.

*Geophysical Disclaimer: some rivers and other water features may not follow their Real Life ™ courses, or be placed in their Real Life ™ locations, or exist at all. Several cities and other physical features may also fall into that classification. Some cities exist only as 'named places'. Where possible (and discoverable), original Japanese style city/place names are used, with the more modern Chinese as well in parenthesis. While the correct types of targets are placed within the various cities, they may not match their Real Life ™ positions due to Height Field and Tile constraints. Also, this terrain is =NOT= full scale. *

As is ALWAYS reccomended, unzip this archive to a temp folder or your desktop, and you'll have access to the rest of the readme for it's instructions. It's reccomended you -READ- the document through after unzipping, but =BEFORE= installing.

As always, the Notes and Other Nonesense section may make for entertaining reading.
Please also read the New Standard Usage Discalimer, as it's been changed slightly to reflect a change in my policy. It's listed at the bottom, in the Legal Statement Section, with the URL back to the CA post.

  11. Formosa Terrain, Limited Nations Tweek

    Formosa Terrain, Limited nations Fix

This little tweek for Gepard's Formosa terrain will add the LimitedNations usage, cutting down on the chance of any unwanted visitors to the playground showing up.

This mod consists of the Formosa.ini and Formosa_Nations.ini. Nothing anywhere else is changes; it only creates a 'fixed' number of countries that are allowed here. This tweek, while designed for SF2 series, will also work in SF/Wo* 1st Gens at the 08 patch level, if you've back-converted this terrain to work in 08s.

As always, it's suggested you read this little readme. It's acutally quite short and pretty easy to follow. For a change.

    No screenie included.

  12. Formosa Upgrade 2: Airfields Fixes & Other Small Tweeks

Formosa Terrain Update -- Parked Aircraft Fixes (and some other stuff)

Yet more updating of the Formosa terrain, that adds game-generated parked aircraft to Gepard's NATO/WarPac style airbases that are used. Also included are some modified inis that create the LimitedNations (from my recently released pack), some additons to the _Types ini, some targeting tweeks, a 'generic' PLAN Destroyer, modified GermanyCE airbase inis, with increaed parking chances, and a few other little things here and there. You'll have to fly around to find them.

Designed for use with Stary's new terrain tiles, you should have his upgrade installed before adding this one. Although there is very little possibility of conflicts (as this was built with his new stuff in my terrain), it never hurts to be safe, huh??

Speaking of ground objects, you'll find as mentioned, a stand-in PLAN destroyer, inis for Grinch's Fletcher with a new UserList (these were in the Libya 3.75 upgrade, but some folks may not have installed them), AND... a working Silkworm launcher and Styx missile.

While designed for SF2 usage, all the inis are in ANSI, and can easily be used on 1st Gen SF/Wo* versions. However, the Styx missils IS set up for SF2 only. Those knowledgable with weapons editing can easily down-convert to 08 1st Gen levels.

As always, READ the enclosed document for full install instructions.

  13. Full-Scale Iceland Terrain

    ***********************************

    Iceland 02 Full-Scale Terrain v2.0

    by Baltika

    ***********************************

This is a major upgrade to my little Iceland terrain.

    New features:-

Forest tiles and trees - yup, there are now some forests on Iceland, just as in reality.

Extensive targetisation upgrade, with many newly targetised areas.

    Several new terrain tile types.

Network of NATO radar stations, with accurate operational dates.

Re-tiling of some coastal areas to fix tsunamis.

Some terrain HFD work for greater accuracy.

Custom environment file to create snowstorm conditions for inclement weather. Cheers to Stary for that one ;-)

No substitute for SF2:NA, I know, but Merry Christmas everybody ;-)

This will likely be the final version of this terrain. But, if anybody spots any show-stopping bugs, please drop me a line at Combatace and I'll try to sort them out.

    Thanks to:-

Gepard for his terrain tutorials, which started this adventure off all those years ago. Also for his WoE European style runways which are included here.

JSFAggie for his Highway runway Mod, which has been altered and modded for use as glacier-based FARPs.

Brain32 for sound advice on creating terrain tiles. Cheers mate;-) Your hi-res lava tile has not been used here, but may see the light of day if I ever manage a hi-res set for this little terrain.

CA_Stary for being terrain guru extraordinaire. Also, thanks to Stary for his Heavy Snowfall mod for WoX series. I have included this for Iceland terrain and updated it for SF2 shaders, so you will get near-whiteout blizzard conditions for inclement weather setting. Happy flying ;-)

Thanks also to Brain32 and CA_Stary for their forest tiles and trees, which I have adapted for use as Iceland's sparse forests. Cheers guys ;-)

GrimViper, for pointing out that Iceland does actually have trees and forests. . . Cheers mate, hope you like it ;-)

Wrench, Dave & all the gang at CA for invaluable advice on how to make things work, garnered over the years and hopefully put to good effect here.

MajorLee, Deuces, Edward and anyone else who made a terrain mod and posted about how to do it. Thanks!

TK for making the whole bag of bolts hang together.

    ***********************************

    Installation instructions:-

Delete your old "ICELAND02" folder. This version is a complete replacement for any previous version.

Unzip the package to your desktop, or wherever is convenient.

Drop the "ICELAND02" folder into your Username\Saved Games\Thirdwire\StrikeFighters2\Terrains folder.

If there is no terrains folder in your mod folder, create one and drop the ICELAND02 folder into it.

Drop the "Effects" folder into your Username\Saved Games\Thirdwire\StrikeFighters2\ folder.

That's it! Go fly, and fight for the liberation of Iceland.

This terrain has been completed using SF2 November 2011 patch. It is not supported on WoX series or earlier patch levels. But, if you really must try, use the files included in the "Use_in_WoX" folder for SF1 series. Your mileage may vary.

If you use a custom environmental mod, bear in mind that any changes must be made to the ICELAND02_ENVIRONMENTSYSTEM.INI file included here. Just make sure your new file includes the following line:-

    InclementEffect=BlizzardEffect

Or else, you will lose the snowfall weather conditions. It is set up this way so as not to interfere with any other environmental mod you may use.

  14. Germany terrain rework (Part 1 of 3)

This is a major overhaul of Thirdwires stock Germany terrain for Strike Fighters 2 Europe.
This mod includes Starys wonderfull GermanyCE hires terrain textures V3 with some small tweaks like grey painted roads or different river colors and a few new tiles.
All airfields has been modified with new buildings . A couple are made from scratch.
Try out Florians Pferdsfeld or Büchel airbases if you fly for the Nato. They are outstanding! Try Drewitz or Marxwalde or Gerwin field airfields if you are fighting for the Red side .
Lots of strike targets has been modified or moved into towns. Hamburg and Wismar got real harbours and you find new objects all over the terrain.
I also included hi ho silver's new city night textures and a modified ENVIRONMENTSYSTEM.INI as additional install if you want to fly night missions that looks like real nights.
Special thanks to Ravenclaw_007 and 76.IAP-Blackbird. Both made some objects i realy needed for this rework and supported me to create this mod. Another Special thank to Gepard for his German airfields mod.
And a special thank to Florian who made the best looking airfields i've ever seen in any Sim!
And i want to thank all creators who made all the great objects i used for this mod. Without your work i would never had started this project.
    Thank you all!

  17. Hawaii, Central Pacific (1959-2028)

    Hawaii, Central Pacific (1959-2028) Terrain
    December 13th, 2020 (1st Release)
    by Menrva

    >For Strike Fighters 2: Vietnam, Recommended Full-5 Merged
This is a complete remake of the Hawaii terrain. Unlike the original one released by Wrench, which is not in full Real World scale, this new terrain was made and tiled from scratch, and it features all the main Hawaiian islands in full scale, with more cities and pretty accurate elevation details.
A better looking and more complete tileset has been added. Numerous target areas, such as small civilian airports, have been added in order to expand playability, targets of opportunity and year range.
This terrain features a fresh new 250m resolution heightmap (instead of the stock 500m resolution), allowing for greater details and precision in elevation changes; overall it provides the whole terrain with a better look.
The terrain spans from August 21, 1959 (when Hawaii officially became the 50th American State) to December 31, 2028; it is designed for fictional clashes between Red forces (namely Russia and China) and all of the American services (USAF, USN and USMC). The island of Kauai is added to Red Side for better gameplay; imagine it as the first step of a hostile invasion of Hawaii. All mission types are available, including CAS and Armed Recon.
Targets reflect Real World events as accurately as possible; for instance, some airfields will appear only after a certain year, according to historic changes. If you have SF2NA, naval fleets will spawn in the Pacific Ocean. Also, Off Map Airbases have been added and long range AI flights can be generated from them. All main targets have been placed accurately in their Real World locations.
Ground Objects are not included. You can obtain the most needed from Wrench's original Hawaii terrain release.

    >Credits (in no particular order):
-Wrench, for his permission to use his target areas from the original, smaller scale Hawaii terrain.
-swambast, who provided me with invaluable help in tracking and fixing common and uncommon bugs, and for allowing me to include his exclusive Pearl Harbor Memorial 3d model (which you cannot redistribute).
-JSF_Aggie, for his great Hi-Res Runway Textures v2.0 which I included.
-Stary, for the hi-res Okinawa tileset he made, which I have reworked and expanded.
Because this terrain re-uses some of the original target area layouts by Wrench from his previously released Hawaii terrain, I included the ReadMe files from his original package, to the end of giving proper credit to everyone involved directly or not.

  18. Himalaya Terrain

Himalaya Terrain Updates, For SF2 Series (& SF/Wo*, too!)

I was unable to find the readme that came with Major Lee's original release, so this will have to suffice. This terrain was first released in 2004.

Some modifications and the like for Major Lee's Himalaya terrain, updating tileing, targeting, movements and suchlike. Designed for use in a Full-4 Merged SF2 install. It should, however, work just fine in standard unmerged installs, and with some editating, in all 1stGen series as well.

As stated above, this is the FULL terrain, with all internal objects needed. You simply need to unzip and install. Some new tiles have been added to make it look a bit more 'lived in', and several new target areas have been added (cause everyone needs someone to bomb...). All the inis have been updated, and a new Movements.ini created for CAS and Armed_Recon missions. This map also makes use of the LimitedNations and LimitedMissions statements for both sides, so you won't have any Anti-ship missions since the nearest ocean is like 1500+ miles to the south. You will also be extracting and editing the game's Nations.ini to add the new nation of Nepal. A new Nepalese ground unit is also supplied.

This terrain mod, while designed for SF2 merged installs, is easily back-dated for use in all 1st Gen SF/SFG/Wo* game installs at the 08 Patch Level. You'll just need to change the shader statments; instructions are below. No editing is necessary for the ground objects; other than having the guns and weapons for the infantry unit.

Also added are several new tiles, creating some cities, hills and mountains, rivers for the region, and filling in the Kathmandu valley with farms and fields. The northern, higher elevations (heading into Tibet and China), while having a city or 2, are still predominantly snow/rock fields. Some liberties have been taken with target placements, but they are named correctly, and more or less in their Real Life ™ locations. Give or take a few dozen kilometers, and several thousand meters in altitude. This terrain mod contains 2 of the highest altitude airbases in any mod ... fly accordingly!

It is ALSO highly reccomended you READ this entire document through before installing this mod. Especially the Notes section. If you don't, you're SURE to run into problems. And then, we'll clown on you. Hard and mercilessly.

    Happy Landings!

  19. Hurc's Nellis Range Mod

***This is a replacement for the previous version 1.0***

This is a modification to the original bombing range to make the home base airfield a likeness of Nellis AFB and take advantage of some of the new Hi-Res Desert textures now available. It also includes some of the objects from the Mescalero Proving Grounds range made By ChampionsVA56.
Nellis AFB is located alot farther South on the map that the original base was. This should eliminate getting aggressor A/C right over Nellis as you take off.

A few drone and aggressor Aircraft are included in this download. You'll see these flying around the range, and parked at the Range Airfield. All weapons have been removed, or they are equiped with training missles
    so they won't hurt you.

Only hostile aircraft with a "NationName=RANGE" or "AGRS" will show up on this terrain.
A modified version of the NATIONS.INI file has been included. It is the stock file with the "RANGE" and "AGRS" nations added. You need the "RANGE" nation defined if you want the drone's showing up and need the AGRS nation for the Aggressor A/C.

Provided your other terrains have their "LimitedNations" setup, you won't see the drones's or Aggressor A/C anywhere except the Range. A modified version of the SQUADRONLIST.INI is included with the USAF Thunderbirds squadron added.

The bombing range targets use the layout of the Mescalero Proving Grounds range and the drones and Aggressor A/C use its runway to launch and recover. Note: the target area that was known as the
Warehouse Targets is now Friendly and is a called the Range Control Facility. When you choose to do a Close Support mission, your tanks will be lined up defending it from the enemy tanks.

One thing that is a "feature" not a bug, is that you will have Friendly A/C spawning from Nellis, sometimes right when you are, as Escort or SEAD flights. You cannot collide with them and they will go right thru you as applicable.

    Good Hunting!

Simply unzip and drop the various new files into your \Terrains\ICELAND02 folder, making sure to over-write the previous versions.

This update is good for SF2 and SFP1/WoX installs.

    Iceland 02 Full-Scale Terrain v1.0

    by Baltika

    Thanks to:-

Gepard for his terrain tutorials, which started this adventure off all those years ago. Also for his new WoE runways which are included here.

    Installation instructions:-

Unzip and drop the "ICELAND02" folder into your Saved GamesThirdwireStrikeFighters2Terrains folder.

If there is no terrains folder in your mod folder, create one and drop the ICELAND02 folder into it.

That's it! Go fly, and fight for the liberation of Iceland.

This terrain has been completed using SF2 June 2010 patch. It is not supported on WoX series or earlier patch levels. But, if you really must try, use the ICELAND02_DATA.INI file included in the "Use_in_WoX" folder for SF1 series. Your mileage may vary.

    ***********************************

This terrain features a completely new Iceland map, scaled up to full size and with a completely new tileset. All mission types are flyable for Red and Blue force. It has taken a number of years and several false starts to get to this point. Like gepard said about his Israel terrain, I feel the journey may never be finished, so if you spot any oddities or bugs, drop me a line at CombatAce and I'll try to fix it.

I will post targetisation updates as and when these are completed. For now, kick back, enjoy the Arctic scenery and have a blast.

    Slainthe!

  22. IcelandNA (Replacement File)

This is a full IcelandNA Terrain in Standar Resolution like the other origninal sceneries, to replace the original High resolution StrikeFighters2 NorthAtlantic IcelandNA, with all airbases structures and targets, as far i test it.

    For this mod i used:
    Baltika Iceland02 Full-scale Terrain v1.0
(as base file for the replacement file)

Third Wire Desert and Germany Original Terrains
(as complement of Baltika Iceland02 Full-scale Terrain v1.0)

Third Wire Strike Fighters 2 Extractor
    (To extract the necessary files)

    Canadair .Cat Pack Creator
    (To Create the File)
I used Baltika Iceland02 Full-scale Terrain v1.0, then i extract desert and germany terrain files and use the texture files as complement for Iceland02 Full-scale Terrain and then re pack it to make a replace file insted of the high definition North Atlantic Terrain.
is not an original file it is a remade file

  23. India-Pakistan Terrain

    India-Pakistan Terrain

    -For SF2, Full-4 Merged, Reccomended (plus ExpPak1)-

    India-Pakistan Mod, Part 1

This is the first part of the India-Pakistan mod. This package =ONLY= contains the Terrain itself. Follow on packs will the the full GroundObjects, Weapons, Menu Screens, and later, aircraft. (ExpansionPak 1 will be needed for the Vampires, and possibly some others)

This terrain is designed for use with a stand-alone Indo-Pak Mods Folder. Instructions for creating a seperate I/P install are in a seprate Word Doc, and are covered in the CombatAce SF2 Series Knowledge Base. However, it can be placed into any /Terrains folder. Just be advised you'll be missing a LOT of things! Please read the aformentioned Doc for details.
Usage in a 'all is everything' install is NOT reccomended. Doable, yes. Advisable, no. You've been warned.

It is ALSO highly reccomended you READ this entire document through before installing this mod. If you don't, you're SURE to run into problems. And then, we'll clown on you.

    Happy Landings!

  24. India-Pakistan Terrain Tweeks Pak

    India-Pakistan Terrain Tweeks Pak
    - For SF2, Any and All -

This is a relatively small tweeks pak for the India-Pakistan terrain. It is to be applied to the original I/P terrain download available at

    http://combatace.com/files/file/11805-india-pakistan-terrain/

There has been a few small changes in the 'eye candy' department, and a slight cleanup of some of the airbases. A few new terrain =AND= GroundObjects have been added, and included for ease of installation. These changes are not major and will not effect much, except adding the recently released fuel truck repaints, both the red and yellow 'followme' jeeps, and little things like that.

A new TFD and HFD are included, as some retiling had to be done. Also, a new "india1" planning map was created. It's just very basic, showing the region.

As always, fairly simple, easy to follow install instructions are included. Please read and follow them. It's pretty straight-forward (for once!)

    Happy Landings!

  25. Iran-Iraq Terrain

    Iran-Iraq Terrain

    - For SF2, Full-4 Merged (or any with access to the Desert cat) -

(Although Perfered Usage is as a Complete Stand-Alone Iran/Iraq War Mod)

This is a complete and total rebuild of the Iran/Iraq terrain from oh, so long ago. The entire map has been retiled, using Polak's Desert Storm set (also with some updates) with the addition of rivers, more farms, cities and an major expansion of the target areas. Simply put, those that have or seen the original probably won't recognize the place!!

Although designed with the 1980-88 War in mind, it can (with EXTENSIVE reworking) be made over for use for any time period, up to and including the Iraqi Invasion of Kuwait/Desert Shield (more in the "Notes" below). While many of the neighboring countries DO have (minimal) targets added, they are set as NEUTRAL, and have 0 value targets, as they are beyond the scope of the main focus of the map -- the Iran/Iraq War. However, the major airports ARE there, also NEUTRAL.

MANY new tiles have been added, updating of some originals (to make them fit and look better), and LOTS of custom TODs for buildings and trees and such. Including ALL new river AND road tiles for all 3 types of terrain (desert, farm, mountain), with all the transitions. While not perfect, given game/terrain engine limitations, these changes make the region look more like it should. Unfortunately, however, some rivers and other terrain features are NOT replicated due to the height field display of the terrain, making it virtually impossible to do so. This is especially true for regions in Iran that are heavily mountainous; or have some other "oddities" due to airfield flattening. Roads may also NOT follow their actual paths.
Other changes are to Runway 2 and Runway 3, that have been retextured to fully paved (no more FOD from dirt!!)

It is also reccomened you have the Pasko's Ground Objects, and Kesselbrut's Vehicles Pak, the GAZ trucks, etc; in short any and all add-on SAMs, AAA, vehicles, ships, and whatnot from any and all other terrain mods. HOWEVER -- make sure said add-on objects are CORRECT for the theatre and timeframe. (SA-2, SA-3 and SA-6 for the big Iraqi SAMs -btw, 2 & 6s are stock items) While NOT all are included, some are. Wherever possible, I've tried to stick with stock, historic items. Several new, "nation specific" items ARE included. Aircraft are NOT.

As to be expected, there are some Easter Eggs. Most are scattered around the map; some are actual historic World Heritage sites.

While this can be used in a SF2 series (any), it is reccomended that it be used in a Stand-Alone Mods Folder dedicated to the Iran/Iraq War only. As it uses desert tile/terrain naming conventions, it points to the Desert.cat. As all tiles and most terrain objects are either stock or included, it should work with any of the stock Cats, =EXCEPTING= SF2:I's IsrealME. Use of that cat is =NOT= reccomended.

It is highly reccomended that you READ this entire document through before installing this mod. If you don't, you're SURE to run into problems. And then, well, you know the drill. You get clowned on. Hard. As usual, the expansive "Notes and Other BS" section for clarifications, elaborations, explainations and general ramblings.
