Guys, don't you think that this is already a clear overkill?

You're right ... as only the tails (squadron badge & CV letter) and sometimes the nose (black or grey) change if we could put the other common textures in main plane root folder, we could save A LOT of space.

But this trick doesn't work with this model as in many others, because - I think - something is to set in model LOD, I'm not able to set by myself.

If someone'ld do or explain, I'll be glad to build a light skinpack

Meanwhile, as I have a prairie in my many tera HD, I'll enjoy this fantastic plane (have you seen the rocket trails?) using this very heavy skins pack!

The size of the mod is irrelevant.

Quality matters. Not size.

It is always the best when the modder delivers the highest quality to the table.  End-user can make it smaller and resize skins to their own desires.

You can not have high quality on 512x512 skin.

Indeed! There is one mod here, which in the archive weighs as much as 2 GB - especially for real geeks and poopsockings!

If I were given power on this portal, I would officially limit the weight of the mods that are laid out here to 100 MB. Or I would order to divide a large downloads into several smaller parts (by the way, some modders do this on their own).

A thing that everybody needs to be aware of is ALL of my skins are different in some way, I vary colours, weathering, shading etc in some small way, spec maps too, they are not the same on all the different skins. This is something that I've ALWAYS done from day one on all of my work so if you go sticking the bits that are " common textures" in the root folder of the particular aircraft it would screw up the skins originally made by me .....:censored:.

The reason I didn't do every squadron or include the FAW2  was to keep the download size down to a manageable size .....FAW2 will follow..

BTW I'm not knocking your work Paulo...I'm glad you like the aircraft.:good:

As You'ld know, I like to have (paint) every squadron for each plane I can and maybe  every serial number too ... an encyclopedic obsession? I don't know. :dntknw:

Anyway no screwing up, because in each particular skin folder'ld keep different and special ones, but where there is only a nose or a tail different, only that texture should be needed in particular skin folder and the base ones are in main folder root, saving a lot of space.

But this trick works only in some SF models and I don't know why.

I can't wait for your FAW.2 and for ALL your great models.
