Vietnam 1984 Campaign for WOV...coming soon

Recommended Posts

Been working on this one on and off for a year, almost ready. Special thanks to Spectre-USA

Blitzpig and Viper29_CA and Kout.

Vietnam 1984:

The Vietnam War ended in a stalemate a decade ago. North Vietnam has taken the opportunity, of the prolonged cease fire, to build up its ground and air forces.

The Soviet Union has recently taken an active role in mobilizing fighter regiments for the VPAF and the potential of the Soviet union adding actual ground troops to the area is now a reality.

The uneasy temporary peace comes to an end. The Reagan administration Withdraws the United States from the decade long diplomatic process. On December 18th 1984 the coalition starts a 2 week air offensive against North Vietnamese targets.

You know, MK, your campaign mods are going to run me out of space on my computer, eventually, because they're all too good to pass up... :)

I am happy about the positive feedback, you never know if the "hypothetical" campaigns are something that people like to play now and then.

The problem with this campaign was the sheer amount of planes, it got ot the point where it was putting a high end PC on it's knees. if you can belive it , I cut out 25 air units from the campaign file. It was really like WW III, there were a hundred planes in the air at once and it was taxing thr system. I remember escorting a dozen F-111s with my 8 F-15Cs and engaging 12 MIg-29As and 8 MIG-23s. It was a slide show. So I went back to the drawing board last night and cleaned house. It's more playable now for sure... but one day I might release the original cmapaign file...it ...was....nuts.

BTW it will not require seperate install. The mian screen is optional, other than that , it is only sperate if you want it to be.

Yeah. Just imagine what would have happened if the war hadn't ended when the crew of the Mayaguez invaded Phenom Phen, or when the B-17 carrying Jane Fondle crashed into Supreme Commie HQ in Hanoi, or better yet, when John Wayne and Chuck Norris snatched Ho Chi Minh and trussed him up in a balloon rig so he could be snared by a C-130. Yeah, just imagine if none of that had happened :ninja::ohmy:

C'mon guys. You all know that Nixon's policy of Vietnamization, his troop reductions and the 1972 Christmas bombing were all in an effort to prolong the war. If Watergate had not happened we would still be fighting there to this day! :haha:

Come on, Column 5, you failed to mention the real reason the war ended: It ended after Colonel Kurtz and Colonel Kilgore mined the entrance to the Nung River at Vinh Drin Bac, and then rescued the Playboy Bunnies that were being held by the Viet Cong Air Force in Hau Phat.

That's a myth, actually. Probably created by the CIA to cover up the real events. See, we all know John Kerry was sent on a secret mission into Cambodia in December of '69, but the question is, why?

I learned this on the Internet, so you can accept it as fact:

In february 1898 the USS Maine was blown up in Havana Harbor. In 1945 Flight 19 disappeared in the Bermuda Triangle. In the 1990s Louis Farrakhan was abducted by aliens while visiting ancient Myan ruins and brought to a mother ship that spun "like a great wheel" in space.

What do all of these events have in common? Absolutely nothing. But back to John Kerry.

He sailed his patrol boat up the Quaing Tri river in December '69 and secretly made a deal with Ho Chi Minh and Mao Tse Tung that actually ended the war in exchange for $3.50 and a lifetime supply of Bubbleicious (grape flavor). When he got back to Washington, President Nixon was furious at this unauthorized diplomacy and refused to honor the treaty that Kerry had brought back. In revenge, Nixon ordered G. Gordon Liddy to go back in time and assassinate JFK and RFK. This is why Kerry joined the anti-war movement. Well, that and he thought it would help him get into Jane Fonda's pants, which he did but when he got into them he doscovered she had a penis. That's another story though.

You forgot to mention how Kerry's affair with Jane Fonda so preoccupied Ted Kennedy (He allegedly became quite aroused when he heard about Fonda's penis), that he drove off the bridge in Chappaquiddick in a fit of jealousy, forgetting that Mary Jo Kopechne was still in the car!

I heard the same thing. Apparantly Kennedy also made Mary Jo wear a Jane Fonda mask and a strap-on dildo so he could simulate giving Jane Fonda a blow-job while driving.

eight, this campaign should play fine if your regular install of WOV plays fine on your system. It will really be your setrtings for grpahics etc. that determine it.

before i cleaned up the campaign data ini file, no matter what you did it was crazy. now it should work fine if WOV works fine. It should be released by tomorrow.

enjoy it.

Actualy From my understanding one of the Reason the North invaded in 1975 is they felt Ford would not launch line backer III so the scenerio is if Watergate not happened, Nixon would have served out his term leaving the GOP tiket open to a Ford Reagan battle and the North Vietnamese would have been watching to figure out if we would back up the south or not if they resumed the war.

MK2, I probably can answer my own question but just for snicks I'll ask: will changes have to be made to wepaons pack/folder if I add on say for example Tomcats, Falcons etc.? Currently I am staying within the WOV era of aircraft. I have d/l the current weapons pack update, so I figure the add on aircraft mentioned for your mission shouldnt be a problem either. Correct??? Please say YES!!!

Er, yes?

Well you did ask nicely. :)

It will be, as mentioned over at SimHQ, a seperate install, with all the aircraft and skins required to fire this puppy up!

I think.

It's been a while since I tested it, but it was bitchen. The man is a master. I believe he even has a weapons pack that

addresses all airframes in the conflict.

Did that answer the question?

Hi eight, I am currently testing the campaign and seeing if it might be better to release it when patch 4 is available (which should be shortly). I'll explain more later but there are somethings things going on that I am not happy wiht that will be cured in patch 4.
