External Target View Panning

When I view my visual target externally I can not pan my camera around the object. I can zoom OK and I can rotate on the axis which is used to posistion the camera but only rolling by using the joystick. This of course results in my aircraft actually rolling. Does anybody know the fix or correct settings/ file to edit to fix this. I've played around with the various files that I could chase down and I've hit a wall- need source code in other words. Am I missing something here? Thanks in advance for any info hope it helps some people.

The target view is really a "super zoom", from the player's perspective, and moves with the player's AC.

 

To release any view, just hit ctrl+F12. That will allow you to pan around and travel.

Thanks for the reply. Too bad things like this detract from a sim that has some good things going for it. One of the things I liked best about WWII fighters was setting up an elaborate battle and then spend my time playing a role in the fight and then hitting A and going around to watch the tanks and men fight. If you used all the available views you could watch the whole thing as though it were a movie and you were in control of the camera. External panning and fly-by's on demand are a must for me. What good is all that eye candy if you can't watch it effectively. Thanks again for taking the time to answer my question.
