Warning....this will make some of you very angry....

Recommended Posts

I was watching the Fox News channel, and saw a report about a female basketball player who turns her back on the American Flag during the National Anthem. I read up on this incident, and it makes me so damn angry that the school she attends has not removed her from the team, or at least suspended her. I am sure it is because the school is afraid of legal reprisals from such commie organizations as the ACLU. Well, perhaps we need to provide this lass with a ticket to the country of her choice, since she is so displeased with the U.S.? Here is a link to the story carried by FOX Sports:

Also, I tried to get an email address for the Manhattanville College where she attends, but conveniently, their email address is not available. However, their webmaster's address is:

webmaster@mville.edu

I hate to say this, because I do NOT agree with her actions in the least, but this is America, which means she has the same right to voice her beliefs as you or I, even if they are completely opposed to mine. After all, freedom is what you and millions of others in the Armed Forces have fought for over the past 200+ years... :D

That said, her actions are shameful IMHO and reflect on the college in a bad light. She has the rights to voice her beliefs, but she is doing it on the college's and team's dime.

I guess my beef with her is that she is protesting the very country that allows her the free speech to protest. To her the country is "so terrible", yet she is allowed to "protest" her homeland. Does she see the irony in it?

I also believe that she is allowed to protest due to her beliefs, but I also say she can do it on her own time. She wants to stand on the corner with a sign, whatever, knock yourself out. But at a school sporting event? Nope.

I also don't see her forfeiting any of her rights voluntarely, either. She is a stupid kid who is selfish. 5 will get you 10 that she knows nothing of the causes that she is "protesting" for.

I don't believe in "my country, right or wrong", because that can make you a hypocrite. But I don't believe in "blanket blame" of America, either. She needs to have it pointed out to her that she is part of what she is "protesting". Her search for blame should also reside in herself. Hope she remembers that next time she buys a pair of basketball shoes that are made in a foriegn country at slave wages.

She is gonna hate herself when she sees the hypocrisy of her own stance.

As a Combat Vet Spanning from 1972- present I give her thet right to be wrong.........If we start banning everyone that dosent stand or face the flag( rember a real flag must have two sides and be of correct size) then at one time or another we will jail all ppl to offen I see ppl passing a Flag at a doorway without saluting or even bowing thier heads. to render correct respect one must salute 12 paces prior to and 12 after holding the salute for the full 24 steps. how meny do that?

Also rember in news if its slow print it if alot was happening that day it would of never of made the printed page.

so give "Old Glory" her respect but rember that in her is a choice to do so,its called FREEDOM.

Yes, I agree it is her right to disagree with anything or anyone she wishes to do so. But to me it is HOW she chose to voice her dissent.

I too served my country for 20 yrs to help defend this person's right to act as she is doing. But actions such as her "in your face" type protest in a public gathering are more than just inappropriate; it is plain wrong.

ALthough I Do not agree with her actions.

they cannot remove her from the team nor suspend her.

Every American has the Right to Peacfully protest.

But if it was a practical joke type thing then yeah a suspension is in order.

Since she has this right to "protest", then I am certainly glad that the people who she has riled have the right to "root" against her. The Merchant Marine school that she was playing against passed out over 500 flags and the midshipmen all chanted "U.S.A.!" and "Leave the country", which I believe falls under the same "right" that she seems to enjoy.

Again, this sociology major at a small liberal arts school is naive to the causes she profess's to defend. Another "Lets blame America first" wannabe. Oh, and by the way, she's doing this on other peoples time and dime. Would you wanna be on a team where you are trying to win but her outside interuptments interfered with your team work? Not by a long shot.

In wrestling, rugby and other team sports that I have participated, one of the rules is to "leave the home stuff at home".

If she were a boy on my hockey team, she would have gotten her ass layed out, everytime she even got near the puck, and then probably gotten the sh*t beaten outa her by me or someone else on the team, in the locker room between periods, and then beaten after the game. And thats if she turned her back on the Canadian flag, you dont want to know what happens if she turned her back on the American flag.

But, I put her in the same class as those that hold there hand to their heart, and dont mean it (plastic people, I think that "Sunday" christians fall into this category aswell). As for me, I dont agree with all that America does, so I do not hold my hand over my heart, I just hold them in front of me, but I do it respectfully, and I most certainly do not sit down at a game during the anthem. I may just have a combination of laziness (too lazy to hold my hand up for a whole 2 mins), and having that damn song drilled into me every day for 13 years in public school (I think this may lead to some people doing it half heartedly).

But she has the right to do as she pleases, although I think we can all pass judgment on her for having poor taste if nothing esle. And the gentleman that waved the flag in her face, had no right to do so, not because of speech, but for violating the space of the court.

And I agree, it is hard for a team to pull it together while one or more members is making an ass out of themself... just look at my beloved FSU football team.:cry::cry:

Once again, the reason that we who have served do what we do comes to light. Not only do we protect the rights of those that agree with us, we protect the rights of those that disagree with us. Tell me how many countries you can do that in and not get thrown in jail or worse. Bet you can count them with only your fingers.

The middies did the right thing. Answer protest with protest. She can protest us and we can protest her.

My personal experience says that most people like this never quite get it, and continue to act the way they do for the duration. But, of course, they are more than happy to let my sons die protecting what they takes for granted.

I remmber when I was in about 1st grade. Everyday before we sat down we stood in front of the flag and resited the pledge. I did that through 1st grade to 6th grade. I dont like this girls actions.. esiaclly if it was a veteran that was holding the flag. It just shows how some people dont appirate what those who have defended and risked there lives for us and the people of this country. But she does have her rights. Last year, on veterans day, I made a Veterans F-16 Skin for Janes USAF. I felt I wanted to honor them in some way. :D

This veterans day or was it last (you know what I mean). I was walking to class, and I saw a front license plate that said "Combat wounded Veteran" you know the one with the purple heart and what not. So I ripped out a peice of paper, and wrote down "Thank you and happy veterans day from a grateful American", and slipped it under the windshield.

I really hope that made his/her day.

well

Miroslav Satan Didnt intentailly do it but the guy got a nice 70 mph Wrist Shot in the face..

But like i said.

she has the right to peacefully protest the government and its actions.

What really gets me angry is your response. I find it interesting how you all label people who seem to disagree with current US policy "Commies". As if we're still living under the Red Scare. Actually, I don't know how many people know what Communism really is.

I myself think Communism is the ultimate form of government, in which all the people's interests are listened to and cared for. I also happen to think that every Communist country on this earth (USSR, Cuba, N. Korea, etc...) has done a pathetic job of it, and that they all are horrible disgraces to the name "Communist." The original ideals of Communism are not very far from the egalitarian goals the United States holds to be its core.

I'm not anti-American, I just don't like the way things are going right now, and I believe we need to re-think our outlooks, social structure, values, and government.

Karl Marx would agree with you completely. Anybody know where the purest of form of communism exists... here in America, except we call them Amish, all are equal, and all get an equal share by doing their equal part.

Good Luck getting this to work on a grand scale in a country founded by Calvinists. Jean Calvin, actually said god wants you to make money, this of course made the Dutch and British take to it very quickly. Money means income which leads to income desparity, which is the reverse of communism. It will never ever work any country as long as people want to own sh*t that there neighbors dont own (which makes your neighbors want better sh*t then you, which of course is the base for comsumerism, which is the base of capitalism). My dad has a Vette, guess what I want a f*ckin Ferrari.

Communism is only good for country's that have never had any form of democratic govenment, and or some form of free trade, no these just dont start working after a decade (notice Russia).

So take your toilet dream (American communism), and flush it away, we cant even get socialism to take in this country, and you want full on communism?:lol::lol:

It's all good fun if your talking economics, but any psychologist would laugh his ass off at the mere idea of communism. It goes against all basic human/animal instinct.

Search for realism before you look for utopia. :D

Cheers,

Jay

I totally agree that Communism is damn hard to actually do right. The best-sounding social structures and governments are always the hardest to create and maintain. I also agree that it is inborn human nature to move towards a wealth-based system.

I don't know if there is such a thing as a "good" war. Even World War II, probably the most revered and noble conflict the States has fought in, had some questionable actions on the part of the allies (the Dresden firebombing, the Japanese internment, the Nagasaki bomb.)

I think wars should be confined to computer games. Perhaps, in the distant future, truly serious conflicts will be solved by multiplayer deathmatch :)

Unfortunatly, I am one of those troops fighting for her rights.

Not unfortunate that I serve, but unfortunatly, people like her take away the goodness of the freedoms in which I fight for.

All the sailors I serve with would love to take and drop her dumb ass right off the fantail, you know for shark bait.

Let her go to Iraq, or N.Korea and try this bulls**t, see how quick her ass ends up in jail for treason... WHICH IS WHAT SHE IS... A TRAITOR

Funny you should mention that....The LOMAC site did a survey once to see what players wanted more....Better Simulation...or Better Multiplayer?

It completely amazes me that more people opt for the simulation of RL events rather then MP...according to their poll. So the question is, can we use that poll to say; "We'd rather be bombed and feel the earth shake, then to attempt to experience those things in Real-Life over a computer game"?

Basically....more people would rather watch a live concert at an outdoor venue then watch a live concert being aired on TV.

IMHO

This kinda reminds me of a movie I once saw. It was pre-fall of the wall, and it was pretty sh*tty. But it had giant Mech Wars, like dudes in these 100 foot tall robot suits, and it was between the US and the USSR, and they would fight over sh*t like Alaska (that was actually in the movie).

But nothing like that would ever fly anymore since there is only one superpower. Simulated War  why not just bring back the real spirit of the Olympics. Settle our differences on the field of competition... without having to kill eachother.

Another pipe dream from me.
