Here are some benchmarks before and after jacking up the FSB.

I used 2001 3Dmark and 2003 3d Mark.

Board is an ASUS A7V8X with a AMD XP 2.4 (2.0) processor

Graphics is 4x AGP Abit GF 4 4600ti Siluro

OS is Windows XP Pro

Memory is 512 Megs 3200 DDR

2001 is optimized reflect DirectX 8.x performance

Base Number

2001_3d_2000mhz.jpg

Overclocked from 2.0 to 2.174 by uping FSB to 145 and voltage to 1.75V

2001_3d_2174mhz.jpg

2003 is optimized to reflect DirectX 9.x performance

It should be noted that it is a totally different "Benchmark" than its 2001 counterpart.

Base Number

2003_3d_2000mhz.jpg

Overclocked from 2.0 to 2.174 by uping FSB to 145 and voltage to 1.75V

2003_3d_2174mhz.jpg

Note The ABIT GF4 4600ti does not officially support the DirectX 9.x features.

Sorry for what?

Where is your 2001 3D Mark?

The 2003 3D Marks test ability to use Direct X 9.x

The 2001 3D Marks test ability to use Direct X 8.x (which most games are).

Your Card supports Direct X 9.0. Mine does not (I would expect a lower score on the 2003 Test, in addition the 9700 is 8x AGP where the my GF4 is 4x).

Well.....here's the 3DMark2001 scores:

3dmarks01.jpg

This is not OC'd....but it's at 8x....the Radeon card, to my understanding, forces the Asus Bios to 8x and does not allow the owner to change the AGP setting. This was addressed to Radeon by their consumers becuase it does it to more then just ASUS boards. My understanding was that the latest Catalyst Drivers....well..I have the latest and apparently it does not.

OK got the wife a new card Asylum GF FX 5600 and dropped it in for a quick test.

CPU OC to 2115 from 2000 (AMD 2.4)

About 1000 points increase from the GF4 in the 2003 3D mark (Direct X 9.x test).

The 2001 3D mark was slightly less then the GF4 4600ti.

Well short of Fates 2003 Mark, the diff I believe the Clock Speed of the graphics Processor. The card tested is also 256 megs of memory, this did not seem to help much. The Card is 8x AGP where the GF4 4600Ti is not.

I got a Tbred 2100 that is going in the ASUS A7V8X board when I get home. Gonna drop the 2.4 in the Abit NF-7S when I get home.

That 2.1 need to be unlocked? to get it to think it is a 2.6 like your screenshot?

See ya Thursday nite :D

Impressive!

I got a Tbred 2100 that is going in the ASUS A7V8X board when I pull the 2.4and put that in the Abit NF-7S when I get home.

Was setting up the Abit NF-7S board and was having overtemp troubles when I put the 2.4 in it, I think I had some excess thermal paste on it and it got squirelly, put it back in the ASUS board (never had overtemp trouble before with it) and it had the same trouble, pulled the cpu cleaned off the excess paste (happened while sliding the fan around), and the cpu is stable again. Ran outta time and had to come to the ship (else you would have recieved the new system for your magic :D

Abit NF-7S

2.4 AMD (may buy a 2.7 for it)

1 gig 3200 DDR Samsung RAM

Radeon 9800

That 2.1 need to be unlocked? to get it to think it is a 2.6 like your screenshot?

See ya Thursday nite :D
