Starting in hangers

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

have SFP1, Strike fighters Gold and Wings over Vietnam and love 'em all. And was just wondering if it is at all possible to to start a mission from inside a hanger. I have tried to park my plane in one but blow up. Saw a video on Ytube of a Mirage 2000 coming out of a hanger and taxying to the runway. Could have been from WOE though.

Is WOE worth getting? And what is the highest altitude any of you have managed to reach with your plane loaded down with ordnance?

If you want to fly the F-15 against MiG-23s over Europe then Yes. WOE is not much different from WOV except no carriers :no: . Any way as far as I know you can't start at the hanger. And unfortinatly no Mirage 2000 is avalible at this time plent of Mirage IIIs and its variants :yes: !

I have seen some pics of a huricane inside a hangar in the battle of brittan feedback thread. I also read that it is not possible to place objects inside objects or fly under bridges. I say wings over europe is worth it because you get some new planes and I like to fly in the europe terrain alot. O and i reached about 50,00 feet witha fully loaded MiG-25. I think I oculd have gone higher though

I think there is a mirage 2000 available, I just can't remember where. I have started off in hangers in some of the YAP missions, therefore it is possible, but the how-to is beyond me.

Lightweights... :tongue:

This is 81394ft resulting from an "accident" :biggrin:

There are at least three being prepped, but they're not quite ready yet...

As far as I know you can only start in hangers from YAP ( Yankee Air Pirate add-on) but you can start at the ramp and at other areas but not in the hanger or in revetments in WOE. You need the Mission builder-single aircraft only-Take off set and then reposition your aircraft.

Here's some pics but using the Jaguar by the blastshield.

The hurricane was a static ground object placed inside (at the same coordinates as) static hangar just for base-life immersion purpose.

WoE is my favourite installment due to familiar surroundings. And have some pretty planes (Hunter), plus excellent free NATO Fighters addon.

Thank you for the replies,

Managed to get a Kfir up to 43,500ft at 2am this morning and that was about it. Maybe could have gone higher but my eyelids were starting to droop.

Will be getting WOE, as soon as I can find a copy over here [Oz]. YAP sounds like the biz too. So many great addons, so little time. Look forward to the Mirage 2000 fighters when they become available. Have downloaded a beauty for FS9 the 2000N,

2000A and the 2000L.

cheers for now

Eccles,

I've just "discovered" YAP myself and have been blown away by it. What a peice of work! Hat's off to all who made that one. Thankyou.

Hi Folks, thought I'd just pass on some info on how you start a mission from a hangar. The following details can be ported between SFG/SFP1, WOV and WOE.

First, you need a hangar. If you go for the stock GroundObject 'ShelterA' then you need to be aware of a mesh collision bug that exists, which prevents your aircraft from starting deep inside the hangar (as detailed in my previous post, here: http://bbs.thirdwire.com/phpBB/viewtopic.p...angar+collision). BTW, YAP solves this problem by shipping an alternative ShelterA which allows your aircraft to move safely inside.

The rest of this post assumes that you're using the stock TW ShelterA. It's a fairly long post but the results are worth the effort.

As an example, for WOV, Quick Reaction Alert (QRA) sheds can be placed at the Southern end of the runway at Da Nang by inserting the following lines in the 'Da Nang Air Base' entry of the /Terrain/VietnamSEA/VietnamSEA_targets.ini file (reset the index numbers accordingly -- the next available number in my install was 96):

This will result in the following additions to the Da Nang airfield...(minus the Alert aircraft for now)...

img00001-2.jpg

Now that the QRA complex is complete write a mission to place your aircraft just inside the hangar. Alas, just inside is the best you'll get with the stock ShelterA due to the aforementioned Collision Bug (see above link). Below is a simple mission that does just that, using F-4Es (a flyable one and a static*)

*Details on creating static aircraft for SFG/SFP1, WOV and WOE can be found in the following uploads:

SFG/SFP1: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autom...p;showfile=4313

WOV: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autom...p;showfile=4314

WOE: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autom...p;showfile=4315

Save the following as a .msn file and load it into WOV:

=========

; Sample mission starting from QRA/Alert sheds at Southern end of Da Nang airfield.

;

; Taxi out, launch and head North-East towards following patrol area waypoints.

;

; Waypoints are set for intercept point and then return to Da Nang.

;

; Good luck! (PNT)

i have SFP1, highest ive gone in general was "sub-orbital", 400,000ft with SR-71 (firewalled in full afterburner, gradual climb, not straight up), loaded ive gotten a F-15E to about 90kft

How about we get ramp start,, in that big empty lot, forward of the hangars which most airbases have and call it a day.
