Recommended Posts

I' ve check the boards but couldn't find anything on enabling or set key commands for steering the aircraft on the ground. Can someone point me in the right direction, please/

Thanks.

As far as I know, there is no such key. You steer on the ground with the rudder.

AND is has to be set in the aircraft's data ini, hopefully with an animated node for the nose / tail gear for steering

[NoseGearL]

SystemType=LANDING_GEAR

Retractable=TRUE

DeployTime=5.0

AnimationID=1

DragArea=0.25

HideGearNode=TRUE

WheelNodeName=NoseGearTire01

RotationAxis=X-Axis

InsideNodeName=

ShockAnimationID=5

ShockStroke=0.40

SpringFactor=3.0

DampingFactor=0.3

ReverseWheelRotation=FALSE

RollingRadius=0.5

CastoringWheel=TRUE

CastoringNodeName=

Steerable=TRUE <---here

MaxSteeringSpeed=41.15

Locking=FALSE

MaxSteeringAngle=45.0

InputName=YAW_CONTROL <--and here

ControlRate=2.0

HasBrakes=TRUE

RollingCoefficient=0.05

MaxDeploySpeed=128.61

plus, youll also see the pointers for max steering speed, rolling radius, etc. Theoretically, you can get away without actually having the nose or tail gear move. As long as the inputs are there.

The LOD file has to have a mesh for the game to make the front gear moving while using rudder.

Here´s an example:

CastoringWheel=TRUE

CastoringNodeName=FGDumper

needs to be set in the data.INI of the aircraft.

The 3ds mesh "FGDumper" is the red one below.

So u can make the wheels turn on any aircraft if u just put that in the data ini wrench?

Jarhead: I haven't tested that, as most birds seem to already have it in some fashion. Perhaps not animated in the nose or tail wheels, but definately in the data inis
