Hi all , sorry i've not posted over here yet work has had me crazy busy . This is just a quick update on the BO105 helo i'm working on , it now has some weapons ( well rocket pods ftm ) but i still have a problem with it sitting a few feet above the runway when landed . Aside from that the uv map and a skin its not far off now :) .

Yup i'm the same person , i have a few things i've been working on for the last 6 months but there are many things still which cause me problems lol . I laways seem to get so far with a model then hit a problem which slows me down some , at the moment this helo will not sit on the tarmac it just floats a few feet above . Once this problem is solved i can move on to getting it mapped ready for a skin which i may have to ask for help as i have no skinning experience and a good skin can make a good model that much more :)

Bigal1

I'll be happy to take a look at your model and see what it could be the problem

Send me the files to

capun1950 (at) Yahoo (dot) com

Here's a couple of things to look in the meantime

In the 3D Model

- Where is your helo sitting at 3DS Max World Center (X,Y,Z at 0)

I normally set my helos where I think the CG should be at

In the Data ini file

- How have you implemented the landing gear? Via Fake tire or via the IsSkid=TRUE

If Applicable depending on the implementation

- Have you linked the fake tires to the Skid?

- What is the size of the fake tires

- Where is the contact point for the Skid

I'm sure there are plenty of skinners here that will be glad to help you with any and all your models!

:ok:

Ah maybe the problem is the way in which i've setup the landing skid in the ini . This is the first time i've attempted a helo so i'm unsure how the skid setup should be , can see that being the problem now . I'll go back in the ini and check , if anyone can post an example ini for the setup of a skid that would be most appreciated . Besides this problem the helo fly's great :) and once i got the uv map sorted any skins would be most welcome as i would have to learn that area from scratch .

Ok

Here's an example of a OH-6 test mule.

Normally you would have a Left and Right Skid, what I did differently was to split each side skid into two parts, Why? Just to keep the helo on a 4-point stance and to keep the LOACH nose up a bit

Here's an example. only the key data is included

[LeftNoseGear]

SystemType=LANDING_GEAR

Retractable=FALSE

IsSkid=TRUE <- Makes this into a non-wheeled skid

HideGearNode=FALSE

ModelNodeName=Skid_LF

ContactPoint=-1.2814,0.9490,-1.4925 <- The lowest part of the skid that touches the ground.

[RightNoseGear]

SystemType=LANDING_GEAR

Retractable=FALSE

IsSkid=TRUE

HideGearNode=FALSE

ModelNodeName=Skid_RF

ContactPoint=1.2838,0.9490,-1.4925

[RightMainGear]

SystemType=LANDING_GEAR

Retractable=FALSE

HideGearNode=FALSE

IsSkid=TRUE

ModelNodeName=Skid_R

ContactPoint=1.2838,-0.4718,-1.3902

[LeftMainGear]

SystemType=LANDING_GEAR

Retractable=FALSE

IsSkid=TRUE

HideGearNode=FALSE

ModelNodeName=Skid_L

ContactPoint=-1.2814,-0.4718,-1.3902
