WOV: Armed Recon in campaign

Recommended Posts

I tried a search on this subject but could not find a quick answer... Is it possible to tune the stock campaigns to do armed recon in addition to the usual SEAD, Strike, CAP missions? I think that some of these have been able to be added to SFP1 and other Third Wire sims but it looked like WOV could not be modified... can anyone please clarify for me?

Thanks!

Must admit ive never had an armed recon mission ever in a campaign - but them again ive never given it a higher percentage value for squadrons:

This is from a campaign data ini btw

MissionChance[ANTI_SHIP]=0

MissionChance[RECON]=0

UpgradeType=NEVER

Supply[001].WeaponType=AIM-9L

Supply[001].Quantity=600

Has anyone had a Armed recon campaign mission?

Actually it is not possible.

Unlike antishpping missions which are assigned (after long researches and experiments from campaign makers), armed recons missions are not assigned by the campaign engine

This is in SFP1 and WOV and WOE, I don't know about WOI.

I solved the problem in WOV adding plenty of areas with trucks and truck farm to simulate an ho-chi-mihn-trail environment., target rich.

I used plenty of areas from the once freeware YAP, from mission temporary areas (made semi-permanent) such as those (excellent) by comptnt, and some made by me

It makes use of many ground objects, such as the zil-transports packs, or the artillery, or the infantry pack.

With a terrain with plenty of trees, such as brain32 repaint, it really makes a good 'nam

The types ini has ben redone slightly modifying values, dates, and types (mostly to MISC)of various tragets so campaing engine will pick them.

From the type ini is easy to get which groundobjects are to be downloaded to complement the terrain

The more effective flak mod, by me, is alos advised. I find low altitude attacks and bombing pretty lethal now as it was, I guess, in those days,

Since I had permission a while ago to post, I am attaching here my targets.ini and types ini

Goes without saying that all formal rules about addon do apply

Only for personal use, mod as you want, actually test check and experiment, but it is not for you to make money with

This afternoon I was sent on Armed Recon in WoI (and barely escaped), so when engine update comes the rest of series might get the feature as well.

I'm pretty sure that I've been tasked with armed recon in a WoV campaign before but it's been a while since I played it so I'm not 100%.

So, if we just drop these files in VietnamSEA folder in a patched up stock WOV, we'll get some of these targets?

In other words, are there any other step required for this to work?

I'd love to get some more targets in WOV...

yes basically. Although you might want to study carefully the types.ini to get the groundobjects needed; for sure the zil-transport pack, the infantry pack, and the artillery. Should be easy; I know it needs a read-me, but I don't have time right now

Thanks for the help on WOV - I will try the vehicle and troop add-on and also edit the campaign (just in case you can get a mission objecive) but at least I can shoot up some vehicle on the way out from the target.

Also - I would like to see screenshots of the armed recon in WOI - may have to get that one!

Thanks again

I just flew and armed recon in WoI, but as a single mission.

A bunch of trucks Heading toward an airbase in Lebanon. The airbase was populated with parked aircraft!

Used Mavericks to rid the area of most of the AAA, and had a field day. Gun runs and CBU's on trucks and MiG's, even in revetments.

Ended up with a CMoH, and not even a stick of gum to throw at the remaining targets. Loved it!

I hope to see some in campaign, but as I am flying my 3rd one in a Baz, it may be a while.

Which brings up a peeve of mine, I would really, really, REALLY like to see the ability to save some of these missions for later play. Been rallying for it for

years, only to fall on deaf ears. Seen some awesome ones which could be shared, which would rock!
