Need FM help

Recommended Posts

Ahoi, this forum is more frequent than others here, I posted a new Mod WIP here:

http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showt...mp;#entry148068

and after editing the FM in the data.ini I got now a CTD... I tried to mix up some data of known and released planes F-5 from MF and the Su-27 from Marcfighters.

If some can help me would be great. send me a PM just post here.

Cheers :rolleyes:

I am not FM tweaker... But what exactly you changed in XL_data.ini?

Both planes which you used for XL improving are twin engine planes - Su-27, F-5. XL is single engine. You know it of course. I did many mistakes in inis becouse I did not see some easy details.

You edited just values, or you copied "blocks" of lines from Su-27/F-5 inis?

I copied blocks of lines wich depends on the wing behavior. Roll rate and Damper and stuff like this. Mainly changed things in the wingsection like this:

CLa=0.1063

CD0=0.0042

CDL=0.0001

Cmq=-0.1983

Cmad=-0.0055

Cyb=-0.1063

[LeftWing]

CLa=2.195

CD0=0.0025

I copied some of the wing entries from the Su-27 into this I thought this plane has 2 wings also and it has to work, but it didn`t. Done it with the rightwing too. First it flys good and it was near the final stage i wanted than I did a misstake and have to start from the beginning.

It crashed after pressing the exit button.... than it crashed (after ini editing) when the plane was loading.

No I tested it again and i think there is a loadout prob. I tried to delet the Lasertargeting pod but it still sho up only the other pod is gone.. hope it`s not a part of the 3D modell. Do you have some interest to test it?

So you can fly it now. Understand it right?

Well I know that feeling when you need start again from bigening. Sad, bad and crazy... But I can learn more than :yes:

Test note: I can not test it for this time.

Got a reply from Fubar .. he said it`s to much work but read your self .. hope it`s ok to publish it vcause it`s not a PM with delicious text, just some informations.

Writing a tut on FM creation would require take a post spanning several pages. Understandably, it would take anywhere from a few days to several weeks just to put the data together (never-mind getting it down in a readable fashion). That's why no one has done so, to date.

A few modders who are new at this tried their hand at it (that is, creating a community FM project), with somewhat mixed results, as it takes months just to get a proper grasp of aerodynamics in-game, and years to become competent at it. So the community created model came off as being rather unrealistic.

I'll tell you what, though, start by getting accurate measurements (in meters) of the aircraft's wing root chord, wing tip chord, leading edge sweep angle, and total wing area. Do the same for the horizontal stabs.
