Does anybody know if there were drop tanks made for the MIG 25. Have found reference in the data files to CenterHP01 and PTB5500 but can't find them in the weapons packs or the plane downloads.

Cheers

Unfortunately, they've never been around.

Odd thing is, none of the loadout inis actually callout for a drop tank - for ANY of the Foxbats.

I've checked all of them (there's, what, 5 or 6 variants out?), in 6 different game installs (as I sometimes forget to update one or another), and none have tanks.

I'd have thought that would have, at some point, carried them.

If you want to add one, I'd suggest the 790L Mig-23 tank. The name to use on the data & loadout inis is "Tank790_MiG23"

Thanks Wrench

Am playing around with the MIG 25BM, I read that they usually flew with a 5300 litre fuel tank.

A second question I have is that I have modified in the data file the load limit on the weapons station to 650 so I can use the Kh-58. I can select it in the loadout screen but even though I have in the loadout file in never loads automatically. Any ideas?

Cheers

Hmm....mine is already set that way. 4 Kilters, no tank. Have to fiddle with that DT, too. Wish we had that damn tank!!! :rolleyes:

Let me refly it, and get back to you.

Hmm...that was intrestering, as the Chinese curse goes.

This is the stock, as issued loadouts, 500 kg max....here's the loadout screen:

foxbat_loadout_screen.jpg

You'll note there's nothing listed, yet the hardpoints most definately have something loaded, as shown by the black dots. If they're colored in, the weapon has loaded. That shows that the weapon itself weighs more than the 'allowed max' of the hardpoint.

In game:

foxbat_loads.jpg

Kilters are most definately there. You'll note my experiment with the Su-7 tank. It's been replaced.

Fiddlling with the max weight gave, like a I said, some 'interestering' results. 500kg, as seen above. 600kg; the same thing. At 700kg; you'd think that'd be more than enough, the hardpoint disappears....nothing can be loaded. So, I says to meself, lets split the difference. The missile weight 650, 700 makes the HP disappear, lets go to 675....

foxbat_loadout_screen_fixed.jpg

That seems to do the trick...I've also switched over to the 800lt Fishbed tank.

I moved the hardpoints around, fixed the 'StationFT' callout. So. here's the weapons stations for the data ini:

I have a lighting fix; don't remember if I ever posted it in the KB or not...it's off the 25PD, but as they all share the same physical sizes, it should work.

In the FUSELAGE section, add these SystemNames

SystemName[013]=LLandingLight

SystemName[014]=RLandingLight

LeftOuterWing/RightOuterWing seem to already have the SystemName listings.

In VertTail1, add...

SystemName[002]=TailLight

And in the empty //Lights section...add this junk below.

Hi Wrench

Thanks for that, have working lights and fuel tank. Still can't get it to autoload in WOE, tried in SFG and it works fine. :blink:

Must be my WOE install!

Cheers

Yet another interestering development!!

Mine were all tested in WoE!!! You got the bunyap wepons pak in, right???, Cause the Kilters aren't n the TMF pak. Easy enough to add, of course :wink:

That weight will also allow for the other Soviet ARMs too, but they all have pretty much the same operational years, so mine defaults to the Kh-58s (as pointed to in the loadout ini)

On a side note, whilst fiddling with this, it seems the smaller ones (Keglers?) can be loaded on some Fishbeds, along with the Su-17/20/22 (and the as-yet-to-be-seen) Su-24 and 25, and some Floggers. According to Yefrem Gordan's book

For 5300L tank, I use the smaller internal pod from Pasko's B-58. Its about the right size and shape.

Only the recons carried tanks I think. I don't know about the bombers. I figure if the Soviets went through the same thing the Luftwaffe did with the 8th Air Force, but with SAC instead, they might eventually add a 5300L tank to MiG-25P interceptors. -P tanks would offer greater intercept radius when operating out of, say, fewer and more widely seperated airbases if a campaign results in SAC destroying PVO airfields faster than PVO can rebuild them.

In the Weapons folder, make a copy of the *smaller* B-58 pod BA53-Y1_Pod_B58 LOD file and re-name it Tank5300_MiG25. The new LOD file still uses the B-58_pods bmp for skin. It all works out. Here's my MiG-25 DATA...I have not tweaked the numbers right yet, that comes when I start developing consistent FMs for all the SAC and PVO aircraft the Siberian Sky tale needs between 1947 and 1967.
