What's the best way to start modding and how?

I said the story. i want to start making aircrafts and skins and such for WoE,but i dont where i need to start with. could somebody help me?

The knowledge base had a ton of info on how to do what with what. Start there, its a lot of reading but it can defiantly get you started.

Ok here is what i did

 

1. Purchased student version of 3d Studio Max :fie:

2. Download and studied Mc Fly's Tutorials...(( Still some of the best today )) :good:

3. Shelled out another $100 for 3d buzz's Max tutorial (they are watermarked) :cray:

4 asked lots of questions :clapping:

5. trial and error :tomato2:

D/l the mods and see how they work hehe .

if you want be skinner is ever good you D/L the Templates and Gimp or buy photoshop ;)

 

btw, Craigbirealey post a while ago one good painting site, but i can't remember now.

i dont have the money to buy that 3d tool. sadly. i thought you could download it at 3W's website.

I don't know what one craig said, it may have been http://www.simmerspaintshop.com, it has huge amounts of good resources for skinning.

Also, I will tell you that unless you have a lot of experience in 3d modeling, that may not be the best way to start modding in this series.

 

But like everyone else has said, hit the Knowledge Base FIRST!

I don't see how any of us here can answer that question for you. We don't know what your skill set is, or even more importantly, what your interests are. If whatever you decide on isn't something you enjoy doing, you probably won't continue to work on it for very long.

 

Play the game, read through the knowledge base, extract some .ini files and look through them, and find something that you think you'll enjoy working.

 

We can't rank every possibility by order of difficulty.

I am pretty much interested in modeling,and i have a bit of scripting skills.

Maybe that is something?

Just get in elbow deep and mess around, i am getting better but, still ashamed to put my stuff out there. I got some fugly birds flying around my computer.
