Wings Over Europe Carriers

Recommended Posts

No carriers are included. You'll need to download and install them yourself for use in edited missions (not quick missions) and campaigns (some editing required).

Instructions are in the KB :)

But as far as I know, the basics of the instructions have not changed.

In essence, you need to create an 'area' in the targets.ini of WOE for the carrer to roam around in.

Then in the particular campaign data.ini file, you need to add CarrierUnits which assign specific carriers to specific areas, then you need to designate squadrons with the same campaign data.ini to use those carriers.

Assuming of course, that you have the carriers in the GroundObjects folder to use.

there are no native carrier units in WOE...unless I am totally missing them...one has to add the carrier units...also, where do you acquire the operating area position from for the Germany_ce map?

Like I said in the post above yours.

Then in the particular campaign data.ini file, you need to add CarrierUnits which assign specific carriers to specific areas, then you need to designate squadrons with the same campaign data.ini to use those carriers.

Anyway, if you want to determine where to put stuff...use KMD to open up a planning map for the particular terrain.

Then note when you move the cursor over the map, you'll see coordinates near the bottom right corner...note the coordinates when you get the cursor near where you want.

Then use a variant of what Fubar just posted to make a new TargetArea in the targets.ini file of the terrain you want.

Like I said.

the only way to follow the vaunted KB thread in WOE is to copy the desert map from SFP1 and then follow the directions...just tried following the aforementioned very outdated thread and applied it to the germany_ce map and it did in no way work.

but I welcome any one to do it, then post your files (just saying it worked does not prove any thing!)...

alternately, first person to post a working carrier ops mission in WOE using the Germany_CE terrain gets Alyssa Milano's cellphone number (guaranteed)

cheers! :blink:

Heh...(slightly embarassed cough).

I forgot that in the campaign ini (not the data ini) you need to add the following lines:

ServiceXXX=USN

and

[uSNUnitXXX]

UnitName=VSF-3 'Chessmen'

ForceID=1

UnitID=25 <---- Must match cooresponding [AirUnitXXX] number in Campaign data.ini

StartDate=1962

DescFile=woe1Start.txt

StartText=woe1Start1.txt

AircraftType=A-4B

The rest of the lines are self explanatory.

You must do this for each service and unit you want to add.

I just did it right now to verify it still works correctly for WOECamp1 to add a single A-4B unit. Try these files as an example. Bone stock except for the addition of the A-4B unit and CarrierUnit. You still will need to make the appropriate changes in the GermanyCE targets and nations ini files.

You should end up with something like this:

Used Fubar's info and dropped a boat into the folder...then updated Le Missioneur 2006 and used it...chooses any plane any time and as long as it is carrier ops qualified will work...no need to start a campaign

So for those reading along: add a boat...add a target area for aforementioned boat...use Le Missioneur 2006 (it recognizes carriers and IMNSHO is easier than KMD)...launch amid "Highway to the Danger Zone mp3)...dont forget your mirror shades and goat-hair collared jacket

cheers

I have a question. Does anyone know if there's a way to limit what areas certain squadrons fly missions in? (other than changing the mission radius for the aircraft...)

The reason I ask is that I added USN squadrons to all three of the WOE campaigns a while back, but I found it annoying that my A-6A was tasked with striking a target on the bottom right corner of the map when there are a dozen USAF squadrons that are closer and would have to fly over less enemy territory to get to the target area. These missions were almost impossible sometimes because of the amount of SAM sites and enemy flights I had to engage to get to the target.

As a result, I removed all the USN squadrons except the F-14's in the 1979 campaign (that's the only stock campaign out of WOE/WOV where the F-14 can be plugged in).

So anyway, is there any way to only allow aircraft from Echo Station to flying missions in the top half of the map?

The aforementioned (mission radius), or limiting the aircraft's fuel load, are the only two methods that come to mind.

FC, thanks for the discussion...the thread that you linked (Blood for Oil) did not turn up for me in a Google search (and you know my feelings for the website not-so-search feature) otherwise I would have followed that earlier

I like Le Missioneur better than KMD for me because it is easier to learn...and it recognized the carriers that I dropped in (plus it has a "force take off from this location" feature)

hello

here are 2 campaing for WOE with carriers in 1962 and 68 (USN,ROYAL NAVY AND FRENCH NAVY)

try them

the only problem is the landing on the Eagle and the Clémenceau, all the plane land too long and fall in the water,so i qui before landing
