Below: A beautifully preserved photograph of Major Benjamin Dawes and his observer taken by an RFC-48 squad member on May 9, 1917. Dawes, shown flying the Bristol Fighter, had just downed an Alb.D.II and was headed back to his aerodrome at Bellevue when this photo was taken.

This one is almost like an artistic pencil drawing - nice effect. I see you're enjoying it, Shiloh!

Thanks Olham! I'm experimenting with filters and techniques that give that photograph 'feel' that we see so often in books and online. More to come.

Lieutenant Tom Foxx of ESC 62 flying a Spad VII gets a Jasta 19 Alb.DVa square in his sights. If you look closely, you can see the engine separating from the fuselage in a magnificent ball of flame.

Don't want to spoil your joy for this great capture, Shiloh (never seen this very moment so clear before);

but I think the Albatros engines hardly ever exploded out of the airframe like that.

In OFF they often do; like also the rotaries of some planes. I hope they get rid of that for WOFF.

You're not spoiling it at all Olham. I've always found it unbelievable or at least very rare that this could happen. Like you, I was attracted to this shot more because of the timing of the engine separating from the fuselage right as I was closing in on him. I took this shot using Fraps while in live combat and I must have taken 30 or so just to get this one good shot.

The one other thing that I wish for in WOFF is that they remove the pilot ejection animation, then the slow descent to the earth with an invisible parachute.

Yep, let's hope it can be changed.

A long time back, I noted that I really hoped WOFF would change it so the engines no longer exploded out of the planes because, for me at least, it killed the immersion of the sim when it happened. Winder replied that he always hated that too and so they fixed it so they no longer do that in WOFF. Truly wonderful news, IMHO.

I guess you meant IRFANVIEW - a great program also for browsing through all the skins in the sim!

A great, and even free program.

Yes, for OFF it is absolutely recommended to let the graphic card run the graphics.

In my ATI Catalyst Control Center I have Anti-Aliasing on 8x, and Anisotropic Filtering on 4x, and Supersampling selected.

Wait for vertical refresh = always on

We run things bit different Olham.....AA=8  AF=16,i use Multi sample....and vertical refresh=off .unless application specifies,i think il have a little play around with your settings above, and see what happens sir

If you want to compare the results, just check my screenshots.

"Vertical refresh" is "always on" to avoid the white jaggies/tearing edges left and right

during rapid head movements using TrackIR. Works well for me.

Yeh, Adger1971, all settings via NVidia control panel.

It's only really noticeable in rigging wires in external views,

a minor irritation.

I tried 54455 and it has worked very well so far, even at low altitude.

Cheers.

Some screenies taken since upgrade to 20gb mem, and addition of Saphire HD7870 vid card..

Now have sliders up all the way and no significant stutters.

Isn't it wonderful to be able to have all the detail stutterfree, Robert?

Congrats to your new 7870 - I have the same from GIGABYTE, and it's great!

Only thing I've set differently is "Terrain detail" - it is very grainy on "5" and that

made it appear too close for my taste. I have it on "3" only.
