Well I guess I got the bug too about WOE. I managed to finally get it and patched it up, and yeah.... a nice campaign in 2009 wouldn't hurt. I asked malibu43 since he's got something like that. I figured it would be pretty nice, nothing too far out, but here's the plane list.

Yeah, we need a campaign to utilize the modern aircraft that have been released on both sides. A Grippen and the new Tornado F.3 should go in there too!

 

What would be the premise of the conflict though? Medvedev went apes**t over missiles in poland and the russians got as far as their old iron curtain? the black sea map would probably be more appropriate for a modern NATO/Russia conflict, which would also lend the excuse to being able to fly red aircraft on the blue side as ukrainian allies.

All I did was take the Red Lightning campaign from WOE and change out the aircraft in all the air units for aircraft listed in my post. Still needs the F-35B to be considered finished... don't know what the status is on that...

 

As far as the back story, I was just kind of pretending the Cold War never ended. I know the red aircraft I selected might not fit any one scenario perfectly, but those seemed to be the highest quality "red" aircraft that I could find, so I used those. They just needed some loadout tweaks to work.

 

It could be easily modified to take place a little closer to the present. Don't know if/when I'll have time to get it done and put on the finishing touches. EricJ, you have the campaign files... you want to take a stab at it?

 

PS - Black Sea terrain would be fun too. Does anyone have any campaigns written with strategic nodes and all that? That's the part I've never done from scratch.

No I'm really not sure what's going on. I managed to edit yours... and when I started on the airfield, I crashed... so not really sure what the dealio is.

 

And yeah it is pretty much what you're talking about, but I felt something more to the present would be a nice touch.

 

As for Gripen? yeah the Hungarian one would work. But yeah... kinda Red Storm Rising meets the real world. Oil isn't so much the key, maybe just bitterness about being a second rate world power. I've started on that part anyways as far as why, but feel more like it's happening, and flesh it out as I go along.

No Rafale since I don't have it. I only using what I generally have. If I remember the Rafale is from Capun. the M2000-5 isn't bad.

Mr.EricJ,curious about if MiG-29 could be MiG-29 OVT to stand in for MiG-35?Only photos that could find were of India Airshow in 2007 and they are two seaters (Maybe standard,don't know).If my knowledge is bad on subject,could you point me to a correct link to acquire it?

However, to keep it "lite", you will need the Highway Airfield Mod fo sho. Aircraft are a given, but nothing too spectacular. Besides it's pretty old. OVT isn't in service, and just including the F-35 for fun's sake, despite the hideous budget issues it's going through right now.

(dumb remark since it was removed, but in real life it's there, from Kirkeness in the North to the French border in the South, in greater numbers than for instance the Mirage 2000 or Tornado ADV, multirole, BVR capable, alive and kicking and continuously being upgraded in 4 airforces)

in fact, italian air force gave back tornado ADVs a while ago. we now operate on F-16ADFs, Typhoons(only A2A Ready), tornado IDS and AMX.

Let me work more on the scenario and see what I can think of, but trying to keep it down a bit as well. Plus I got some other things to check out. Basically I have it in my mind, just haven't taken time to truly get the scenario, whys and wherefores sorted. When I do I'll revamp the plane list, and so on.

Finally got a name for it to go by.. Operation Bear Hunt. Basic theory is Medvedev lost some cool points with the oh so stereotypical Ultra Nationalists, with some Putin maneuverings since he was booted out. Putin said create a crisis, and well...

 

Poland gets invaded of course, so now what little air force (any Polish skins for the -16) remains ends up trying to reinvade occupied Poland to get it.

 

I've done some thinking, and was wondering about creation of a few things:

 

POL points (nice rear action strikes, etc.). Generally the feeling is like Red Storm Rising, but of course more modern.

Eric, if you focus on 2009 maybe include the F-4F ICE´s also for the german air force. JG71 is still operating them from Wittmund AB and will keep them at least till 2011. BTW, if you want to include some really exotic airframe, BAe Systems operates at least six former israeli A-4N Skyhawks from Wittmund under contract of the german Department of Defence for Target Towing. 4 of them in white with blue stripes on the side, one in overall grey and one in Israeli camo. All are using civilian US-Registrations (N431FS, N432FS, N434FS, N437FS, N262WL and N268WL)!

AmokFloo... not so much into the Scooters, but the ICE sounds like a good idea. I just hope it's not too much for malibu43.. if he's still interested.

 

Most aircraft already in-theatre I want to keep historical as much as possible, the F-22/35 may require some fanagaling. Polish and the Hungarians in the southern portion. For the storyboard I'm working on, F/A-18F VFA-213 at Aldesheim (sp?) Highway Strip, and the E somewhere north, and the EA-18G wherever. Of course the Reds no real preference. Reason I'm keeping the F unit at Aldesheim is that the Theo took some cruise missiles from a Bear they were sheperding. More plotline to follow..

 

And Jedi Master, is this Padewan thinking that the F-117s are just being stored correct? Not put into AMARC?
