Backing up

Recommended Posts

What folder(s) do I need to copy so as to back up my pilots and campaigns? I've lost one harddrive recently and don't want to lose what I got now...

I’m not sure if this is all you need but I would at least try your pilot’s folder. I would assume yours is located the same as mine:

C:\OBDSoftware\CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields\campaigns\CampaignData\Pilots

If there is more to it than that maybe someone could enlighten both of us.

Someone may tell me im wrong, but i dont think you can do that. People would just be doing "saves" if you will, and restoring whenever they lost a pilot with alot of time on him...Considering a 17hour pilot seems to be a milestone, we would have ppl with pilots with 30,,40 etc etc hours....

Not to say you are out of options. Hard drives are relativly cheap, and i have Ghost on every computer i own. My business computer backs itself up onto a second drive everynite at 2am. (waste of time doing a backup to a second partition on the same drive).

And although you may think your pilots and campaigns are the most important thing on your harddrive, when you actually loose a drive, thats when you realise all the stuff you wish you had backed up.

A better way might be a complete backup image of your harddrive; there are programs

for that. It won't take long. You could backup onto an external drive, or onto another

harddrive; and "recover" it from there. Only problem: if your drive was "D:" for example,

and the Sim also stores/changes data somewhere on "C:" - I don't know that for sure.

Chaos49, I don't think that will do it. I think there are files related to pilots and logs that are placed outside the game folder that would conflict with older saved files from these folders if they are just plopped back in again.
