Tinkering further with the ver. 9.9 FM update pack and decided to post a few more pics caught during testing.

Pleased to see that I was eventually blown off of the hill by the wind, and went for a short glide (wind effects really do work in FE2 but are best when treated subtly, light wind, occasional gusts, etc.)

Couldn't resist doing some sight-seeing again with gTerl's maps

Making sure that post-damage effects work well (I can be spotted in the far background on the pic.)

img00048.thumb.JPG.e9a3c30dc12cf88767eb6832e761fefb.JPG

One of the best dogfights I've ever had in any sim (the AI on this earlier Austrian Alby. was superb, we both got shots into one another but the fight was inconclusive, lasted for about 20 mins. I think)

img00049.thumb.JPG.0520becc6fade2e4fb5684ec1d33d94e.JPG

The Spad 13 200hp can do limited turn fighting, but keep your speed up and take advantage of acceleration in dives (good turn speeds are around 160-170 kph) - also good is rudder and opposite aileron for tighter turns and skids but watch your speed

img00051.thumb.JPG.656df819913a792bcead066f2d6ed1c8.JPG

And we went our separate ways eventually (the Spad 200 hp can slowly outrun this variant of the Alb. D.III)

Um, I apologize, but how does your skin differ from the one that already exists?

This model still needs a few small details and a slight change in the wires between the landing gears ... And the rest - it's all right

I don't play FE2 enough. Maybe the lockdown will rectify that!

Some dogfight action..

One can never have enough WWI sims, but this one always calls me back - great sensation of flight and much more exciting than ROF, I think. Representative screenies below. (Hope to tweak the FM for the Snipe and Stephen's Halb. CL.II soon - was busy with some WOFF fm tweaks over the last month or so.)

Happy flying gents',

Von S

Hoping to liven things up around here - some screen shots from recent flights.  I'd like to see your comments.

I was flying a recon mission in a Rumpler C.I. We had just reached our target when we were jumped by four Nieuports. One got on my wing man's tail but I was able to drive him off. I chased the Nieuport around for a while; I fired at him several times, but never came close to hitting him. Another Nieuport got on my tail; I broke off the chase and started dodging and weaving. My gunner got several shots off and finally brought him down. The Nieuports broke off and we returned to base.  I guess I'm better at dodging and weaving than I am at chasing.

Great screenies all ... here are a few of mine too - had a bit of free time recently for some quick missions in the Italian theater. Great AI and immersion in FE2 - tweaks in the pics. are as per the latest mods. in my ver. 9.9 FM pack - LOD Bias is set to "-1" on my ATI graphics cards, by the way - for crisper graphics at distances. The other great thing about FE2 is that it's not taxing on GPUs or other computer hardware - reasonable core temps. maintained and only about 50% of CPU and GPU usage, even at max. settings in the FE2 menu.

Spotted one of our Albatroses coming in for a landing while conversing with fellow pilots and the flight officer - the latter said that such types are rare here on this remote front and that I would be getting an Eindecker instead.

If you were new to FE2, you'd have no idea the Albatros in the background is an add on aircraft. And you'd be wondering why you couldn't find it in your drop down list...

I know these screenies seem mundane, but they're all screenshots from one 9/18 campaign mission. I'm definitely having second thoughts about TK's AlbatrosC3? thing though. Have to look into that.

I never imagined, growing up reading stories of WW1 aviation, that this would wind up being one of my favorite aircraft to fly in simulation. I always thought it would be the Camel. I was wrong...

Let's refresh this thread with a few more screenies - enjoying Eugene's new photo-realistic skins for the N.10 and early Fokk. D.VII - great stuff. This is still one of the best WW1 sims for quick, seat-of-the-pants action - fully modded, it still holds its own. (Using a subtle ReShade preset file by the way in these latest pics. - will consider posting the presets for those interested under a separate thread.)

Happy flying all,

Hello.

Well, it looks very good.  What thread is ReShade for FE2 in?

 Greetings.
