The Purposes Of T&gs?

Recommended Posts

exactly Chief...they are used to practice approach angle and touch down.If you've ever hear or read about Naval and Marine aviators they do ALOT of them before deployments.or if you make a mistake then a touch and go could save your aircraft and your passengers.

Yeah, practice. and they take a lot less time and fuel than having to do full stop landings.

plus there are different approaches. I listen to tankers do TnG's all day.

You have ILS, VOR, GPS. Sometimes they stay in the pattern and squak 1200 as a VFR flight and sometimes they'll have IFR flights and work with departure to set vector them on the approaches.

They also do a low approach to one end and then circle and T&G or land on the other.

I think alot of time's atleast for the tankers is to make sure they also get their flying hours in and also burn up fuel to land.

We get the A-10's from Barnes in here some times. The flight can't be more than 1/2 hour in the air but they'll stay over of a time and get credit for 2 flights.

Practice is as important in aviation as any other endeavor. Landing is the most critical phase of flight. touch and go, low pass and approach practice is essential to safe flight. This practice should be conducted in varied weatherconditions, day and night, and with different aircraft weights to understand and confidently predict how the aircraft will behave.
