Mission and Flight Time no Recorded

Recommended Posts

A week ot two ago I posted that after the first mission of my first campaign the pilot dossier did not record that a flight had been flown or the 45 minutes I had been in the air. I had used a pilot that I had previously used in Quick Combat. The flight time in quick combat had been recorded but the flight time did not increase after the campaign flight. One of the responses suggested that it may have been because I was using a pilot that I had previously used in quick combat. I was told to never use pilots in campaigns that are used in quick combat also.

I created a new pilot for use in a campaign only. I began a campaign and flew for about 40 minutes. I never encountered any enemy aircraft. The way point systen had me essentially flying in circles behind the froot line and I finally landed because I was tired of just flying around with no action. When I did approach bogeys they all turned out to be friendlies. After landing I checked the pilot dossier. It said no flights had been logged and the pilot's flight time was zero.

My campaign settings in the workshop are:

Campaign Date Advance - Manual/Auto

Campaign Mission Frequency - Historical

Data Base Warnings - Off

Regional air Activity - Light

Aircraft Spawn Control - OFF Campaign

Flight Evaluation/Log - Campaign only

Player Stats - On

I am set to always lead and my realism setting is 120. This is intersting since I had set my claims setting to bypass claims and my pilot to never die several days ago. Do these settings need to be made for evey pilot? I don't recall changing them. Anyway, this is an aside. My main question is, why wasn't my flight recorded in the pilot's dossier?

I just flew another mission with the same result. The mission was to escort bombers to an enemy airfield. I followed all the way points (the green line on the TAC) and just kept going back and forth over the same area in friendly territory. They never took me near the front. I finally landed after an hour of touring the same area of sky. Why didn't the green line eventually lead me to the enemy air base? Why, again, wasn't my flight recorded? And no, I didn't shoot a tree Uncleal, I was flying when you posted. I'll try that next time. It doesn't seem the waypoiont system is working right or is it typical to fly around in friendly territory for over an hour before heading for the front?

Seeing as we don't have a language problem as you're in Indiana. I do believe your instillation somehow went bad

1) you're not able to record your activity

2) That Green Line Doesn't Exist ... it's neon blue

After you've gotten rid of OFF

Search for all files that contain 'Over Flanders Fields' Delete same

Do a second search which includes your hidden files, 2 always show up. Failure to nail those puppies, your problem whatever it is, will return again, and again, and again

Actually, what I see is more blue than green. No language problem. Just poor memory of the color between the game and the forum. But I do know where to look for the record of the flight and time and it's not being recorded.

Strange,

Try going to workshops and reset CFS3 - this clears the MS CFS3 outcomes files and alas all your pilots....

Losing all my pilots won't be much of a loss since there is no record that they have accomplished anything anyway.

Thanks Winder and Uncleal,

Won't resetting CFS3 wipe out my ghraphics settings as well? I'm wondering if a complete reinstall as per uncleal might not be the best way to go. I've saved screen shots of my graphics settings to make reconfiguring easy and my mine.xca file so I will still have my controller assignments. Uncleal, where are those to hidden files you mentioned located, in the OBD files, the microsoft applications section of documents and settings, or somewhere else? Is there anything else I should save to make setting up after reinstall easier?

Winder,

If I understood correctly you said that pressing the CFS3 files button in workshops would not change my graphic settings but would delete my pilots. I decided to give it a try rather than reinstall. Not only did it delete my pilots but it changed the graphics settings from my custom settings to default and changed some of my controller assignments (e.g. Rudder and throttle were assigned to two different controler axes whereas they were each assigned to only one before the reset). It seems presssing the reset CFS3 files can cause a lot of grief if you have many custom settings and don't have them documented. Fortunately I had saved screen shots of my custom graphics settings and was able to restore them and everything looks good. The default settings looked awful.

I have not tried another campaign flight yet. I will report if I see the same problems again. I still may just do the reinstall but will try campaign first.

I started a new campaign. The good news is that my flight was logged and my flight time was recorded. I also smoked a couple of BE2c's. The bad news is I clipped one of those pesky trees at the edge of the field while trying to land my EIII and was killed. So my best and only pilot had a grand total of 32 minutes flying time. My problem seems to be fixed. Now I just need to learn how to land.

Pleased to hear it - only re-install the sim if you have contacted us on the support e-mail and we run out of ideas!

I put in the reset button back in P1 because CFS3 occasionally (rarely I have not seen it) screws up the outcomes data file in which case OFF no longer communicates correctly with CFS3.

Have fun!

Interesting.

I killed my pilot today and had to start a new campaign. My new pilot flew the first mission which took almost two hours. I was careful to follow every waypoint (even double backed on one on the way home so as to be sure to hit them all) and landed successfully. I got ZERO credit for the flight, all goose eggs! Zero flight time, zero shots, zero everything! The briefing said to stay over the target area for at least 17 min so we lingered for well over 20 min. I can't imagine what I could have done wrong.

Very strange. First time I recall that happening. My pilot sits there now as if he has never flown a mission at all.

Condor must be rubbing off on me. That's a scary thought!

Here's some more campaign strangeness.

I went on a mission with three wingman. I managed to let all three of them get killed while in a furball. [i'm rather embarrassed about that actually]

When I completed the mission, there was a notice about one of the guys in our squadron getting killed but it was not one of these three. When I reviewed the flight, the review shows all three of them being killed exactly as I recalled it. However, they are NOT dead! In fact, those three guys are in my next flight.

Do wingman not die? I was sure I had one killed another time and he really DiD!

Currently, I am pretty sure there is no reporting from CSF3 back to the OFF Manager about who died in the mission. The deaths and injuries and 'missings' you see after each mission are just randomly generated events unconnected to what actually happened in your mission flight.

I think Winder has mentioned the team looking into someday having the true results captured and reflected someday. Nice if it can be done. "Speak for yourself" says my wingman :)

Hmmm, I work so very hard keeping my wingmen alive (I even forego kills I know I could get) just to make sure I get them home. I hope I can continue to be as motivated now having this bit of information.

Yah, sometimes it is better not to know how the program works internally...occasionally spoils the magic. Sorry about that (but you DID ask, heh heh).

More campaign strangeness. I have to say I'm getting frustrated. I flew a mission to patrol behind enemy lines. I had labels on and used TAC. I followed all the way points. When I saw bogeis I flew to check them out. In some cases the white squares turned to red but I saw no label for enemy planes at the locations of the red squares on the TAC. I had the TAC set for planes so the resd sqauares shouldn't have been anything else, right? I could see labels for the friendlies with me and enemy air bases so the labels were on and working. Why didn't I see labels forthe enemy planes? I circled around and looked high and low. I use TIR so my views are great. This happenend multiple times. I finally completed all of the waypoints and landed at my home base. I hit control Q to exit and got the usual yes no question. I clicked yes and the game froze. After looking at the hourglass for 5 minutes I realized nothing was going to happen. I have already discovred from past similar experiences that hitting the Windows key does not take me to the desktop so I can close the game. Is there a way out of this other then shutting down the computer? That's what I finally did. Of course, when I got things up and running again my pilot had no hours or flights recorded.

So now that I've vented; I have two questions

Why didn't I see any labels for the enemy aircraft that showed on the TAC

Is there a way to exit the game to the desktop when it locks up? (It freezes about 10% of the times I exit. does anyoe else have this problem?)

On a positive note, my pilot is still alive. I just wish I had captured the two hours he spent in the air

This is embarrassing but it appears I created the no mission record issue by using a cracked no CD version of CFS3 because I didn't want to bother with putting the CD in the drive every time I ran OFF. I hope everyone has noted Winder's warning about not using no CD cracks. The "convenience" resulted not only in a lot of inconveneience for me but for those who tried to help me with the problem. My apologies for raising the issue and wasting the time of those who responded.

So are you good to go now? Have you got it sorted and running with the new patch?

I have a legit copy of cfs3, and no cracking patch or anything else like that, and I had at least one mission lately that didnt record, vaguely remember another or two in the past.

I'm keeping an eye on things, but it's not appearing lately (played about 37 PND missions in the last few days and they've all recorded).

Hope you got it sorted out condor. Did HB use the same crack? (OK, that sounds bad)

Goose....er....HomeBoy,

Someone posted a link to the cfs3 dvd within the last couple of days....for $10 you wouldnt have to do anything with your cd/dvd ever again.

Those goose eggs just started appearing within the last couple of weeks, right? Any other nuances that you can think of that appeared about the same time (not just in the game, but in the pc/os itself?

Ranting and Raving never really solves anything but for those that may have this problem:

1) Make sure you are using legit CFS3 that is patched to 3.1 before installing OFF.

2) Make sure that your AV is not causing inteference.

3) Check what other apps are running at the same time as OFF or just before you start OFF - esp the apps that minimise all overheads for some magical improvement in FPS - be wary of these.

I got rid of the no CD crack exe and replaced it with the original that I had saved as CSF3orig.exe (and yes, I did change the name back to CSF3.exe) but I still got goose eggs on my last mission with the CSF3 . I was going to attempt a complete reinstall but after reading Homeboy's post further down I have my doubts about that. I do run Norton 360 on this box. I don't know if that could be the problem. Any other Norton 360 out there? I know Homeboy uses a different AV (I believe it's Avira) and he also has the same problem. Homeboy uses alacrity PC to shutdown processes and programs when he starts OFF but I do not. I shut down what I can manually in task manager. Is there a list of known processes that interfere with OFF.?

Being a computer simpleton I keep things simple. I run things straightup out of the box unless official patches are recommended by the devs. OFF BH&H for me is running great with no issues and I feel blessed because it means so much to me to have it. Homeboy I am bummed out to hear of your troubles. I know this sim means a lot to you too and you have been such a great asset to the community. Homeboy I wish I had some answer for you. I know my caring doesn't help. Really though my best wishes to you and Condor to get things sorted out and returned to happy flying.
