Is the Sept 22 update a standalone install or am I to overwrite the existing F-18 files? The reason I ask is because the AGM-88 HARM is not included in the updated weapons folder.

Also there are no engine sounds when using the F-18 external views EXCEPT afterburners.

Otherwise this is a very fun plane to fly.

Go to the _Data.ini and change the "EngineSoundName=" to JetEngine and the sound will return.

Hi,

My F-18 HUD doesn’t have any weapons info or heading bars etc showing up. Also there is no visible afterburner effect?

Cheers,

Dan.

Locate the F-18_Effects.ini, which should be inside your Effects folder.

Open it with Notepad and add the stuff written in bold under

...

[F18FuseVaporSmokeMaterial]

EffectShaderName=effectLightLevel.fx

[F18AfterburnerMaterial]

EffectShaderName=effectFire.fx

Then open your F-18C_Avionics, which can be found inside the F-18C folder itself

add under

[HUD]

HUDMaterial=HUDMaterial

(add that below the initial HUD] entry

[HUDMaterial]

EffectShaderName=fltHUD.fx

DepthBufferCheck=FALSE

DepthBufferWrite=FALSE

RenderedInOrder=FALSE

AlphaTestEnabled=TRUE

CullMode=NO_CULL

LightEnabled=FALSE

UseLightLevel=FALSE

SpecularEnabled=FALSE

EmissiveEnabled=FALSE

FogEnabled=FALSE

AmbientColor=1.000000,1.000000,1.000000,1.000000

DiffuseColor=1.000000,1.000000,1.000000,1.000000

ZBufferOffset=0

PriorityLevel=1

BlendOp=BLEND_SRC_ALPHA

NumTextureStages=1

TextureStage[01].TextureName=

TextureStage[01].MipMap=FALSE

TextureStage[01].FilterEnabled=TRUE

TextureStage[01].StageColorOp=TEXTURE_MODULATE_DIFFUSE

TextureStage[01].StageAlphaOp=TEXTURE_MODULATE_DIFFUSE

You have to add these lines due to changes TK made with patches that were released after those mods were converted for SF2. This pretty much applies to all mods that weren't updated after their release before December if I'm not mistaken.

I've been playing with the F-18A for a few days trying to clear up my HUD as it looked a bit fuzzy.

I was trying to edit the HUD TGA files in Photoshop in an attempt to make them look better, but had no luck.

I can't believe I missed the most obvious solution :rolleyes:.

Thanks Emp_Palpatine.

It's not everyday I am the one with answers instead of questions. :drinks:
