What possible hope have we got?

Recommended Posts

Yeah I had the same frustrating issues in Bosnia and Kosovo... the problem is if you are seen by the press to fire you get crucified and vilified and your the one in the wrong...

They shoot at civilians and not the troops and theres jack you can do about it... Get rid of the CNN effect riding shotgun on everything that the military are doing and let them get on with it on the front line and life gets easier for the troops on the ground. Hell if it was me if they had any ranged weapons within reach pop a round in them... But that leads the way to them claiming compensation etc... I could rant about this for weeks months so I will stop now...

ROE created by politico's to make it look like its not a war and that its just us helping out the people shooting at us

Wow... I've heard some pretty bad stories about ROE before, but this is just ridiculous.

If this is true....we might as well just call it a f*cking day...and go home!

Widow, this goes back to my point about how lame we fight wars now... we go in, kick-some butt for the TV and folks back home, and to justify the 'muscle flexing', then we get bogged down with policy, humanitarian aid, policing... etc.. etc.

As far as the ROE's go... if the enemy even points a stick at you they should be shot.

We'll never with this 'war' this way. Korea, Viet Nam, The Gulf War.... all based on the same dumb principles.

:salute:Everyone here, I in fact really really wish to share with u all Links or a Link that many among us here had not the opp(ortunity) to spend just a minute or two to check it or them out, and read some really really distressing op-eds/news there in/ Yet, I am really a bit concerned, if I should paste here the link or links someone or some people would regard me as (what do u call it?) a "crackpot", crazy guy or something like that who disrupts the friendly atmosphere in this truly great Site of ours the great CA.

Of course I have not been swallowing all/the entire op-eds or analyses in those Links, yet having exposed to real-time international relations in at leats two UN orgs somewhere on the globe for a full 48 monhs, I must admit that many, I repeat, many that had been or have been carried by those Links could nt be dismissed as mere "conspiracy theory". Even here in Indonesia we have been, recently, fed by LIES by many who are in "power" that the public (dood lawyers, academicians, layperson who re not dumb, etc.) relly got mad with the rampant corruption, and those "who carry .38Special and in uniform" who HAVE BEEN abusing their power.

And this is just the tip of an iceberg, occuring as well and as intense in EU, and, sorry guys, in the US. Do not get me wrong, my family and I do love the USA and the people. Yet, even if I were granted a green card, I would not take off.

For a start, kindly Search "pipelineistan" (I may misspell it). And use ur discretion.

Have a nice evening friends. Something comes up that I did not have time to check my spellings here, so, pls also forgive my typos.

Amazing, when are we going to lear, I hope its not too late

war is bad, its killing the other guy before he kills you, you cant do this if you have to wait for him to aim at you

stupid, just stupid!

when I was a kid we had a rule, you never go looking for a fight, but if you get into one, hurt the other guy so bad that nobody would ever want to fight you

In late 2003, before the Mahdi´s famous uprising of April, there was a town in Iraq called Kaulilla. There, inhabitants made a living from activities banned by Al-Sadr, such as gambling, alcohol dealing, pornography, etc. As they gave not a damn about what the ayatollah wannabe said, mahdi´s army was sent to loot the place.

An spanish Legion company went to the call for help, but they weren´t cleared to enter the urban area and engage. Instead, they were ordered to sorround the settlement and set uo checkpoints in the main roads. As refugees fled from the town, they told stories about the ravage within the walls of Kaulilla. The checkpoint leaders reported to the company commander, who asked a brigade general to enter and take insurgents out of the place. Baby General said no.

Having been an NCO back in Bosnia, the company commander, then a Captain, later explained "I didn´t want it to become another Srebrenica" so he reinterpretted the ROEs and ordered his company to ride on their BMRs (like a 6 wheeled stryker) and sweep insurgents. Mission was succesful in terms of pulling the enemy out of the position, sustaining no casualties and causing some, but Kaulilla would never recover from the raid. The fact is, that the Captain was pulled out of the Army, while the General would become, with the new peaceloving government, Army Chief of Staff
