MCAS Miramar Departures Today

Recommended Posts

This morning at 9:30 local, I think I saw two Hunters, and a Mirage, departing together.

And then what looked like an A-4 departing Miramar.

Then about 15 minutes later 4 F-18s in close formation behind them, which is not unusual.

Can anyone tell me if I was seeing "mirages", or could that really have been a Mirage.

There's been a lot more flights the last 2-4 weeks.

I work in La Jolla.

Most probably private. Might have been a Draken or a Kfir, there are private "aggresor" companies, wich i recall to have heard about operating those deltas along with Hunters.

the "Hunters" might have been Harriers seen in the distance.

I suspect that is the MAW which will support the upcoming Afghanistan deploment of the MEB coming out of Pendleton, hence the increased air training sorties.

Yeah, I thought they might be Harriers, also. And, yep, could have been a Kfir.

Thanks for the replies.

Glad to know I'm not just hallucinating, or flying SF2, too much.

ATAC flies a mix of Kfirs, Drakens and Hunters in the Adversary role. They've got a pretty large contract with the Navy, so I'd put my money on that.
