I have got to admit though, I'm a bit gun-shy about these cards now with all the kafuffle last year regarding tampered benchmark programs favoring NVIDIA exclusively....

I remember reading about this Nvidia scam on a GameSpy benchmark review. Lemme see if I can dig it up again and quote it.....

...let me clarify a few things about what has been happening between 3DMark and NVIDIA. For those that missed the news, 3DMark issued a new patch (version 330, which is what I used) that disabled certain "cheats" that had been discovered in NVIDIA's drivers. After what I am guessing was some legal wrangling, a joint press release from both Futuremark and NVIDIA was released, explaining that what was really going on were code optimizations specifically targeted at 3DMark by NVIDIA's drivers.
