Time to Vote Gents!!!

Lots of great ideas!

Remember all entries were to be a feasable modification that a resourceful squadron mechanic could make

Some ideas though good, did not meet this criteria

The Posters generally thought them non-feasable themselves or they were only possible in a sim not RL

Hope no one is upset

Feel free to add your comments and discuss

I think I'd have to try fishing for fokkers (or maybe for early Alb C models in P4?) at least once in a BE2C. My favorite suggestion would be the extra drum of ammo for the Nupes, it will help my pray & spray style of markmanship. pope.gifMiniGun.gif

I think there was a Russian pilot that had a Nieuport equipped with a rope and grappling hook for ripping the top wing off of enemy planes.... but then again I could be wrong.

Grappling hook on a rope was done too, although earlier than BE2cs. Nevertheless, a chance to rip an EIII's wing off as it dives past having shot you to bits would be very welcome. Having them a bit more cautious because that risk was there would be just as good.

Thanks carrick, I agree, polls are fun

My 1st thought on the cable and hook idea was that it was intended as a joke

But then I remembered reading long ago about such things

Amazing what the pioneers thought up

I wonder if there are any records of successful graplings?

Great stuff Duce!

Thanks Widow

I voted for your parachute as Best Idea!

2nd question was easy ...but picking the best was tough

I chose the parachute because I thought it would have the most far reaching effect

whats to stop the Fokker from ripping off your tail along with its wing when the rope goes taught? do you really want to catch one, or does it catch you, or do you both lose like in that photo of the python who ate a gator too big for his stomach?

Sounds like a Dastardly and Mutley scenario rofl.gif

But I'd hope the aggressor would include a quick release after the damage was done

Also mounting it to a more robust fusalage would likely out muscle a wing ...likely!

It looks to me like guns and ammo are the two most important things so far. A fighter plane is useless without either.........unless you like being a target!

I imagine adding an extra magazine on the Nieup 11/16's was very common in the day

I bet a lot of Gunsights were rigged up too
