Da Russians are coming...

Recommended Posts

The Russians have parked SA-10's or S-300, depending on your choice, in Abkhazia which Russia granted independence to after the short tussle with Georgia 2 years ago and now advise that they have place SAM's there to protect Abkhazia Air Space...

Oh yes, the SA-10 is a very dangerous weapon, but unfortunatly only a defensive weapon. If you want to proof that the russians become more aggressive as usual in this area, then you must show tanks, troops, artillery or other offensive systems, but not the defensive Favorit SAM's.

Apologies... the comment about "Da Russians are coming" I made was tongue in cheek or a lightweight joke...

The fact that the Russians have stationed SA-10's in what is disputed territory even if it is a defensive weapon also allows the Russians to check Georgian Air Space with the search radar part of the unit... Also depending on what version is being deployed the missile can easily reach into Georgia... If I was a Georgian I would be unhappy about that SAM System being there...

IIRC the range of the SA-10 is greater than the size of Georgia. So this SAM could literally fire on any plane inside Georgian airspace and their only cover is terrain masking, they can't fly away from it.

The funny thing is that's not too dissimilar from the Russian complaints about a US ABM system in Poland (even though they well knew that no ABM system based there can intercept Russian ICBMs due to the laws of math).

Russian back yard, AFAIC they can do whatever they want there... :drinks:
