Strike Fighters 2: War For Israel V2.1 Part 1

19 Jan 2011

Strike Fighters 2: War For Israel V2.1 Part 1 of 2

Campaign For SF2:Israel. or

SF2,SF2:E,SF2:V with SF2:Israel Merged Install.

This is a Campaign i created to hit on the Possibility of the situation

in the Middle East coming to a head and represent the possible Air Battle.

The Campaign includes IDF, USAF, USMC, USN with Carrier support.

Also Egypt, Libya, Syria and 2 Mercenary Aircraft for Campaign play.

Installing the Campaign:

Campaign files with menu pics and Music files are included.

Also Included 3 Icon Files for the Main Dir to use with the Desktop Shortcut.

Extra Files are required: The E-3A.LOD's for the E-3 "Sentry" can be

found in Operation Desert Storm in the "ODS_part1.exe" file. You only need

the LOD's all others are already included. This Aircraft is not crucial but

fun to Include.

Make a copy of your "StrikeFighters2 Israel.exe" in the program folder

and rename it to "StrikeFighters2 WarForIsrael.exe". Also make a copy of the

INI and rename it "StrikeFighters2 WarForIsrael.ini" in the main dir.

Open the "StrikeFighters2 WarForIsrael.ini" file and change it to read at

the bottom:

[Module]

ModuleDataFile=ModuleWFI.cat

DefaultTerrainData=IsraelME

DefaultAircraft=F-15A_Baz

This will allow the use of the Menu file ModuleWFI.cat that goes in your

program folder "Menu" dir.

Now Run the New "StrikeFighters2 WarForIsrael.exe" and go the the

"Saved Game folder" "StrikeFighters2 WarForIsrael" and delete the "Aircraft"

and "GroundObject" folders. New ones will be created. I've included all the

Aircraft and Ground Objects including the Default SF2 Israel files so you

do not have to sift through them. You can add Aircraft later if you want.

Now Run the Menu Installer and point it to the program folders root

"Strike Fighters 2" Folder. Then Run the Mod Installer and point it to the

Saved Game folder root "StrikeFighters2 WarForIsrael".

Overwrite if it asks.

You should be ready to go.

Before anyone complains about stock planes in this mod the A-4N is From

the A-4AR Fightinghawk by RavenXXXX. And the Mig-27 is a modded version

using the stock usable Mig-27 skins, and is by lindr2.

Both can be downloaded at CombatAce.

I want to thank the Community for all their effort.

Phantom II Quick Fix for Strike Fighters 2: War For Israel V2.0

Campaign For SF2:Israel. or

SF2,SF2:E,SF2:V and SF2:Israel Merged Install.

This is a small quick fix for those who do not want to delete the

Aircraft before copying Aircraft for the Mod over for the Campaign

during the enitial install to have all aircraft available in the

Mod. This is only necessary if your Game has the stock F-4E included.

This will Fix the F-4E Phantom II not showing Stock Skins.

SUPPLEMENTAL UPDATE:

I've renamed the Egyption and Iranian F-4E to F-4E_70 and included

the stock F-4E to fix the install. And changed the Campaign files

accordingly.

Found a problem with the Stock F-4E. Rear Landing Gear sunk into the

ground and Fuel Tanks wouldn't eject. So i fixed the DATA.INI and

included it also. Went ahead and added Landing Light and opening

Canopy to F-4E. Also changed the A-4N dir name to A-4N_Ahit and added

A-4M_Meshupar with Antena. Changed Campaign accordingly.

Changed F/A-18's Afterburner Effect.

Install is easy:

Just delete the F-4E and A-4N folders in the Mods Aircraft Directory.

Then drop these folders straight into the Mods Root Dir which

should be something like

x:\Users\xxxxx\Saved Games\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2 WarForIsrael\

and overwrite when it asks.

This will be intigrated in a proper update later.

Thanks

Hello Spectre8750,

another impressive and instructive work you done there, I'm glad to have it on my disk.

However, I'm facing an issue with the CAMPAIGN1 "101220 War For Israel", as whenever I pick a nation under the "United States Navy" , I'm experiencing a CTD.

snap0854.jpg

The error message that my OS show me is related to the "campaignscreen.dll", as shown on the below screenshot.

snap0855r.jpg

My OS is WinXP Pro SP3, my game is a combo pack plus the two expansions and patched to Dec-2010C.

I followed the installation instructions to the letter and everything else seems to work fine.

Would you know what is going wrong?

By the way, I also noticed that in both Campaigns' folder, there are .INI files, ie. "FORMATION.INI", "MISSIONCONTROL.INI", "SQUADRONLIST.INI", "NATIONS.INI" and so forth.

Are we supposed to move them to their usual folder or are they automatically "activated" when one choose the campaign? (If so, I learnt something great, again thanks to your amazing work).

Best regards

Hi FrankD

I'll check it out and get right back here as soon as possible. I'm getting ready to update that campaign next. Just finished Modern Warfare Korea.

Thanks

First make sure the Mods Option.ini is setup correctly like the [singleMission] StartYear=0 EndYear=2050. I'm not finding any problems. just installed it again and it works fine. maybe there's a corrupt file like the error report stated. May need to reinstall the main game. back the Mods up you have first or reinstall them too.

Hi Spectre8750,

I'll try again on a pure SF2I installation.

By the way, what about the .ini files in the Campaigns' folders?

Spectre8750,

you mean that ini files, ie. "FORMATION.INI", "MISSIONCONTROL.INI", "SQUADRONLIST.INI", "NATIONS.INI", placed in the Campaign's folder have no effect, right?

Yes.

I was going to add them to the proper location edited, but decided not to.

I'm almost ready to post an updated version, found several things wrong minor.

Thanks for your answer about the ini files, and great news about the update, so I'm gonna wait for it to reinstall over SF2I.

Would you mind to write somekind of a changelog explaining what was wrong and how you fixed it please? So the greenhorns like me will be able to learn from experimented gents like you? ;)

V2.1 is Uploaded.

Uses a Installer in two pieces and one Menu installer. Just dump them all in a Temp Dir and install.

Tally ho! good.gif

Edit:: seems like the first part is nowhere to be found. Would you have a new link?

And what about the Menu part you are talking about?

Waiting for Dave's approval for Part 1...

There's a 70 meg Menu Install packed with part 1 and the Campaign part 1 Installer that needs Part 2 to Install. Just point the Installers to the Root Dir's.

The Readme is in the Installer and with the Files. The Installers will point to default Dir's but you can point it to wherever and move the files if you want.

B.T.W. the Stock F-16A has a Loadout.ini with a [strike2] loadout. that's not a mistake. It needs to be there for the Operation Opera Mission and won't

interfere with anything else. please use what i included as is so everything functions properly. You can add other Aircraft and Ground Objects. If you mod

or dump stuff over mine it won't work properly and i can't guarantee results or help, as i would know what the real problem is.

Also added a different Pilot Records Music Track in the Menu. Trivia, anyone know what it's from?

Thanks

Sorry to not have made myself clearer Spectre8750, but the file Strike Fighters 2: War For Israel V2.1 Part 1 is not on CombatAce anymore.

By clicking on the link above, one get the following error message:

[#10870] We could not find the file specified

Edit: Nevermind, it's back.

Hello Spectre[8750],

I'm eagger to enjoy your new version but I'm having an issue with the Mod installer. At about 37% of the installation process, it stops and display the following error message.

snap0041w.jpg

I tried it three times, while having downloaded again the files the last one and I'm unfortunately still facing it the corrupted file error.

Could you please verify your installer and provide the checksum of both files?

Best regards

Up at the header of this post and the "Downloads" of the Campaign Mod, the posts read "Strike Fighters 2: War For Israel V2.1 Part 1 of 2" and "Strike Fighters 2: War For Israel V2.1 Part 2 ".

So if You download both Parts and unzip them, put them in the Same Temp Directory and run the Installer it will install properly. I test everything before I post them.

Thanks

Well Spectre[8750], here it doesn't. I'm sure that you tested it hard and deeply before posting it but the fact is that I have an error message. I understand your point of view and I know that you are making efforts to not call me a moron, and I thank you for not doing it, but be sure that I only want to enjoy your hard work, as it deserve to be.

Do you want to help me to do so?

The "SF2WFI_Mod InstallerV2.1.exe" file is 500,000 Kb big here, is it the same for you?

Best regards

Yes. "SF2WFI_Mod InstallerV2.1.exe" 488 MB (512,000,000 bytes)

And no, I know how you can get on a one track thought and forget something.

The "SF2WFI_Mod InstallerV2.1.D01" that goes with it is 484 MB (508,367,220 bytes) .

unpack it with the "SF2WFI_Mod InstallerV2.1.exe" file in the same Directory and then run it.

I'll Download it and make sure it works and update this post and let you know.

Just downloaded and extracted files and installed with them, if it extracts ok then the download

files inside are ok. Just make sure that you have both "SF2WFI_Mod InstallerV2.1.exe" and

"SF2WFI_Mod InstallerV2.1.D01" together and it should install fine. The "SF2WFI_Menu InstallerV2.1.exe"

file is stand alone.

Thanks

Oh man, I feel so stupid! fool.gif

I'm so used of the spanned archive that extract itself automatically after the first, that it's only after reading your post mentioning the "SF2WFI_Mod InstallerV2.1.D01" file that I realized that the part2 had to be extracted manually too.

Now it's properly installed and the nations that were causing a CTD now works like a charm.

Thank you very much for your patience Spectre[8750]!

Thanks for your continued work on this.

I understand it may not recommended, but can the update be installed over a working installation?

And I was wondering, what's fixed/included in the update?

Hey there TurtleHawk

There's a New Patch out today From Third Wire. Seems to be working Good.

Also It "WFI v2.1" has alot changed. Better to run the new Thirdwire Jan 2011 patch and do a clean install of the Campaign.

Your old Campaign will not be compatible with the new files.

I've included all the Aircraft and Ground Objects including the Default SF2 Israel files so you do not have to sift through them.

Changed Dates in Camapaign, They were out dated, past.

And Changed other Campaign flow settings.

Some Cockpits updated.

Targets Added

Single Missions added.

Guns Added.

Weapons updated.
