Can't create a campaign for Warsaw pact nations

Recommended Posts

Hi, I tried to create an east german and polish side in the 1986 NATO fighters campaign.

All I did was take over the NATO fighters campaign_data.ini squadrons and made them flyable.

This worked for the soviet side, but instead of east germans or polish squadrons I get soviet.

What did I do wrong?

Check the UnitID.

For ForceID=2 (red side) you must count new. The fist red side unit is UnitID=1, the second UnitID=2 etc.

That did it, thanks a lot

Now I only need to figure out how to add HAWK sites...

By hand.

AND....just to make things more interesting, for them to show up on BlueSide TEWS, you CAN'T call/place the specific objects (ie: Hawk_PAR, HAWK_HIPIR), you have to use the 'generic' SAM_RADAR, EWR, SAM_Launcher and hope to the gods that the game engine places the correct radars with the correct launchers.

'Cause even when networked, the "mix and match" of SAM radars and launchers will still occur.

I can't even properly install HAWK sites :(

Only the EWR shows up, the launcher and guidance radars don't.

Any idea why?

I've noticed that SF2 seem to NOT place SAMs at the region you start from -- for Red OR Blue side. However, if they're in the "end" target area (ie: where you're bombing, or where you're intercepting the enemy flight) they show up.

Example: taking off from Naliya IAFS, where I placed the correct layout for it's battery, only the Q-Hut, EWR, and point defense guns show. Upon reaching my target area (Islamablad Int'l), the local SAMs and AAA are there waiting for me.

There is no straight, cut and dried answer. It's a game engine fault. Something that very much DOES need to be addressed at some point (like the 6 years we been waiting). The GE was never really designed for Blue SAMs ... we're forcing it to work that way, taking advantage of Red side "statements" (or whatever its called/used by whichever dll)

As to why they aren't showing for you; without seeing you _targets and _types entries..... :dntknw: ALWAYS check the operational years of the weapons vs when you're flying; make sure the types entries match the names

, etc, etc and so forth

not much else I can say...they work for me! Oddly, sometimes, but they work
