Hi! is possible to make a Merc Unit for Strike Fighters 2 Vietnam?

The idea is to fly planes like skyriders for bombing troops with napalm... planes like Corsair/Phamtom for air combat... and Skyhawks for strike... and mix them on the mission... while skyhawks/riders are bombing... the corsairs/phantoms protect them.... you know what i mean.... xD

Thanks to all answers! xD

Please clearly explain, while as far as i hv understood u want some units to attack ,some to escort.i do this by adding a max 8 planes to my flight.me and wingman generally for air-interdiction.2nd and 3rd group for strike and the 4th for escort too.

u can order them to attack air or ground.

i hope it works.good.gif

Well, I’m not really sure what you’re asking about.

I’ve never played or messed with the Mercenary campaigns. If you want to add a Mercenary unit to a Vietnam campaign, I would start by extracting campaign files from SF2 and looking at the entries for the Mercenary units. As far as I can tell (from a quick look), the only difference between the Mercenary units and the other units is that MERC is used for the service in the campaign.ini file, and MERC is used as the nation in the campaign_data.ini file. Try something similar in one of the Vietnam campaigns. If you have never edited a campaign before, I suggest you read through the knowledge base and just spend some time looking at the campaign files before trying to add the Merc units.

If you just want different types of aircraft to show up in missions, each fulfilling different roles, the game engine already does that on it’s own. Fly a strike mission in an A-4, and there should be escort, CAP, and SEAD flight generated as well with appropriate aircraft.

Also - FWIW - the Corsair is an A/G aircraft, not A/A. The Crusader is A/A.

Yah, putting the SLUF into the A-A environment ensures a quick and ugly death!

and possibly a fighter group AHEAD of the strike package, on a SWEEP mission, instead of a CAP (which is over Friendly airspace)

LimitedNations statement perhaps????? "Merc" is considered a Nation in the Nations.ini. Check the/each terrains's nations.ini, adjust as necessary.

in a full-4 merged, you should be able to access the necessary dlls to create a merc campaign....

That's what I was missing! I was trying to figure out why what I mentioned earlier wouldn't work, but maybe that was it.

PvtDK are you asking if you can have a squadron in a campaign that flies a mix of different aircraft, say like in Area 88?

I think the answer to that is no.

Are you editing ALL the inis??? Including the Squadronlist.ini, adding the Merc unit? Listing it in ini the ***Camp.ini, the ***CampData.ini??

I'll bet you CAN get it to work ... with some work.

I'm not a campaign guy ... but ...
