Two vid cards

guys my old computer had a nvidea 9800gt card can it just be placed in my alienware machine and run two card or is it more complicated than that? Also do any of you guys use an hdmi cable frommyou video card to monitor

As to the above all correct the HDMI is a full spectrum link handles sound and audio...

 

With the Cards as stated both must be the same.

 

Also the PSU must be uprated to a higher spec normally go for around 250watts above just to make sure.

You'll also need to be cautious about the heat generated running SLI. PC's running dual, triple or quad v.c's bring to the table their own quirks and problems.

Also, don't expect to increase your video ram by using 2 cards in SLI or Crossfire. The amount of ram available will be what is on one card. In other words, 2 1Gb GTX 280's in SLI is only going to give you 1Gb of available vram and not 2.
