AIM 9 sidewinder not sidewindin?

Recommended Posts

Is it me, or has something changed since Wings over vietnam / spf1 came out with the AIM 9 not sidewinding like in RL? Or am i just remembering something differently? I could swear i saw them doing this early on when i first got it. I dont see it at all. They either dont track, or when they do, its a fairly smooth curve to target... anyone?

Are you implying that they are falconing, or even sparrowing, instead? :yikes:

If they were falconing, they'd fly towards the sun

If sparrowing, wouldn't they just fall to the ground??

Now, Seagulling ... oth.....

just my two cents, maybe it is the aim-9b he is talking about , just get close and hear the ir sound then fire away, make sure its in range. i can clearly remember wanting an atol or pl-3 or even an aim-9b wanting to fire away at a long distance but thats is not the case when in comparison to latest missiles like archer, pl-8, and aim-9x. which aim-9 are you talking about ?

Actually, any Aim 9 as far as i remember from WOV which was my first in the series then i got spf1. Yep, they seem to sparrow or falcon instead...lol.

Im just wondering if it was true, or did i imagine it? I did another couple sorties with 9b's and they just didnt do any 'windin... course, i couldnt get them to hit either, but i know i may have been slightly out of parameters at the Mig 17s..

I cant remember that missiles made this winding course in game. The first Sidewinders, but also the israeli Shafrir were heavyly winding while flying in reality, but unfortunatly not in the game.
