I would presume that the war in Aegean sea could be a good scenario. Both Greece and Turkey operates similar aircrafts. The campaign could be:

195x territorial war

1962 Cypriot war

1974 Cypriot war 2

1982 total war

Make the US incapable of choosing allies and Soviet Union supporting Bulgaria aiding Greece and putting pressure on Edirne and Istanbul, the campaigns could be very interesting.

Any thoughts?

Well, there is a map wich, with little editing, could serve. I had a install wich allowed to represent greco-turkish conflict since the 60 to the present day. I lost it , however. But indeed, it could be done

allenjb42,

Here's the Turkish F-16 inventory from F-16.net:

snap1503.png

http://www.f-16.net/..._article21.html

From the same website, dated from May 2008 but fairly detailed:

$45 BILLION MODERNIZATION OF TuAF

Turkey has allocated a budget of $150 billion for modernization of its Armed Forces. This sum will be spent over a period of 30 years (which commenced retrospectively in 1997). This budget is exclusive of the yearly military budget which is officially stated as 5.7% of GDP. $45 billion of this has been allocated for the total overhaul of the Turkish Air Force.

According to US Navy Sources, under this very ambitious modernization program Turkey intends to acquire 650 Combat Aircraft and 750 Helicopters (Attack, General Purpose, Heavy Lift). See Pages 138 of “TURKEY’S RESPONSE TO THREATS OF WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION”, December 2001, United States Navy, NAVAL POSTGRADUATE SCHOOL, Monterey, California, http://www.nps.edu/a...theses/Al01.pdf

The 650 combat aircraft include the 230 F-16 CCIP + 30 F-16 Block 50+, 100 F-35 (Firm Order), 52 F-4 2020 Terminator, 238 Unknown Fith Generation Fighter. The Turkish Military establishment is discussing two option:

(1) To increase the total number of F-35C being commissioned

(2) To join the Eurofighter consortium in Trache 3

According to inside sources the first option is the most favoured by the establishment as Washington has offered licenced production at Turkish Aerospace Industries.

Regarding the acquisition of 750 Helicopters: The T-129 (a Turkish development of the Agusta/Westland A-129) has been selected as the Attack platform. 10 firm (40 option) Apache has also been approved. Sikorsky and Turkey are currently negotiating for the co-production of a medium lift general purpose heli. Turkey is also in negotiations with the US for the co-production or off-the shelf procurement of the Chinook Heavy Lift helicopter. See

Ooh... so is this map going to include space for Egypt, Israel Syria as well, or with that space be off map? It'd be good to strike Israel from Turkey or to hit Libya with a package from Tel Aviv.

The map was released a while ago. Check SF2 Terrains download.

part of Egypt and Israel are on the map but not populated and currently there is no plan to do so.

Maybe we should also consider a near future (in part fictional) scenario taking place around small islands of the Aegean?

Using the f-35 for Turkey, the Casa C-23 (SU-35) for Greece and other older planes for each side? Many of them available in the download area.

I think it would be very interesting.
