How can i have more than one GermanyCE based terrains ?

Recommended Posts

If i place in my mods folder both versions of STARY's CermanyCE terrains (1024 HR one & recent 512 revision) neither work as either i choose SF2 freezes upon pressing "accept" to run a mission. If i keep only one of them in the folder, it runs normaly.

I tried to make them as irellevant as possible to eachother like different folder names, different file names for inis and references inside them, the .TFDs (even extracted the .THD to rename that too) but nothing changed. ('GermanyCE_2010_1024' & 'GermancyCE_2011_512')

How can i have them both working ?

did you change the ini names?

(and why would you need more than one? just use the tile size that works/runs best your machine, and let it go at that)

I got a few terrains like that.

Just make sure you have the:

  • main terrain.ini, TFD, HFD named exactly same as the terrain folder (eg. Germany_512)
  • go into Germany_512.ini, check the CAT definition. Also edit the TerrainFullName to something meaningful.

Thanks Umut

I did all of the above , except maybe "check the CAT definition" = ??, with no difference. Actually it appears that the issue is with the existence of two terrains using something from the stock GermanyCE cats. It appears that there can be only one terrain needing data from the stock cats? the next ones all have to use their own files extracted from the cats?

No, multiple terrains using a single cat is perfectly possible.

What's the name of your terrain.ini?

And please post the settings in this file under [Terrain].

Ok 2 things:

both ini files add this:

CatFile=GermanyCE.cat

and extract the HFD, TFD from the cat to both folders, renaming accordingly.

Then it should work.

maybe he wants two different time eras. bases and cities looked different in say WW2 thru the 50s and the 70s thru the 80s. a berlin airlift scenario would be geographically the same as GermanyCE but look much different.(nudge nudge hint hint wink wink know what i mean? )
