Heat Seeker or Radar?

Just wondering, how do you tell if you have a heat seeking or radar guided missile tracking you? Usually I just drop a mixture of chaff and flares, but I'm just wondering if there is a way to determine specifically so I can use only one or the other at a time.

What i have found is, if you are watched by a radar guided missile, your RWR receiver will sound, if a heat seeker is shoot at you, only your mates advice you and it's time to maneuver and pop flares:)
