NeverEnough:

Thanks for the heads up. From the ReadMe:

Nov 2011

--------

* Enemy air defense units sometimes not re-spawning correctly when

Reflying a mission is fixed.

* Some of the graphics details have been scaled down to improve

peformance and eliminate stutter.

* The game sometimes starting in very low resolution when running

with Windows 7 Aero enabled is fixed.

* Hangar screens not showing on third-party aircraft mods is fixed.

* RAF Phantom F-4M (75) is no longer equipped with decoy dispensers,

they receive the upgrade in 1980 as F-4M (80) instead.

Well, TK's done it again. Something new is broken.

It looks like the game is ignoring the "enemymissiontypes=" entry under [allowedmissiontypes] for terrains during generated single missions. I just flew a strike in South Vietnam from the SF2V AGXP in an A-1 and was intercepted by a MiG-21. The only enemy mission type allowed should be transport. If this is the case it really screws up the SF2V AGXP, with all the CAS and interdiction aircraft that are supposed to fly hassle-free in South Vietnam.

Can someone double check this?

edit - maybe not totally screwed. The range still works. Maybe we just need to remove all red airbases...

edit again - removing red airfields seems to fix it. But there were friendly CAP and Escort flights which means the game is ignoring allowed mission types for friendly forces as well.

I'm interested in the details of this, or concerned rather. Would be nice if he made fade scaleable...

Well I can tell you that with the October patch that the horizon distance scalability was changed ... if you set it where I like it- to at least 100000.0 you get what appears to be haze/horizon cloud material clipping that results in weird gray angular wedges that rise from the horizon. Remember how with the older(better) patches the mountains in the FAR back ground would appear grayish in color... (and that was okay... I could live with that) well now that grey will climb into the sky.

I presume that he has cut the horizon distance even closer to compensate for folks that are running the game on older systems... probably another bone head, hard coding move

I am often tempted to post screenshots that show how amazing my older patch level game looks in comparison to how s**tty my new patch level hard coded game is .

You know what I want as a DLC- an official third wire modders pack that allows us to un lock all of the hard coded nonsense that he has done in the past year (to keep noobs from screwing up their installs), and put the game back to where it ought to be.

I hear you Icarus. I found some old screen shots with widesky when it looked the way it was supposed to at older patch levels. Wow - did it look better than what we have now!

Hmm, strange, I can't notice the rain effect during inclement weather anymore...Can anyone confirm this?

EDIT: Nope, it's still there, just barely noticable somehow than it used to be or my memory fails me :dntknw:

still on october, will patch later this weekend

That's a bit spoiler IMO, but on the other hand helps those who fly without target infos to select right targets

Ah. My rig is still packed up so I haven't had a chance to update. Saturday I should get it up and running again.

what I'd give for the ability to add lights to ships and ground objects.......................................

im still getting stuttering, but i think its my system, as i had september patch fine, then I tested october and my system was acting wierd for the days before it.

now in Nov, I get micro pauses as i change weapons, views etc, but of course, now Im trying to run 1024x1024 ground textures :p, before i always ran 512x512.

I am wondering how much of the stuttering problem some players are experiencing is caused by the game itself?

On my system which is certainly not top of the line (intel Q9550 quad core, ATI 6950, win 7), I have had no issues with the sept/oct patch. I run the game pretty much plain vanilla with only a few select mods, including Stary's Israel terrain with 1024x1024 tiles.

When I did some benchmarking with "Rise of Flight" a few weeks back, I found that the biggest FPS hit came first, from the number of AI ground/air units around, followed second, by the amount of terrain detail.

supposedly the stuttering started when the code was changed to fix the nVidia Optimus GPU switching.

Yeah probably, I had no sttuter on ATI just the main screen resolution issue...which was already solved with the beta patch

The Brit Phantoms for 75 and 80 are now locked to those years in single mission. Both F-4M and F-4K.

The runway disappears between 4 and 2 miles out if I am in the wide cockpit view.

Haha, tell that to some Delta flight crews I have to deal with...

Guided bombs, i.e. JDAM and LGBs behave more realistic. Before you could let one go (JDAM) and it'd fly pretty far. Now if you're not in a good weapons envelope you'll miss.
