A lot of interesting film footage - even without understanding the language

Recommended Posts

These documentaries bring many scenes from the time of the Great War back to life - watching them,

I often thought: It doesn't look that long ago at all...

Even without understanding French or German, you will see a lot of interesting footage.

Great stuff. But what is that tiny, narrow-gauge railway that we see at the beginning of the top film? I saw similar ones at various times in the film. They are always on top of the ground (as opposed to in a trench) and completely unprotected.
