3D max and LOD's

I know you can edit an LOD in 3D max. Its not what I want to do. However can you at least load one so you can get coordinates for decals? If so how?

I didn't think you could load a LOD into MAX without reverse engineering, which usually destroys the original coordinates anyway...

hardpoint position

 

and so forth...

when i know the meshnames is what i do boss. then load and check, cuss, readjust. wash rinse and repeat until good.
