WOE map edit or making

hello guys me again, :lazy:

 

i am stuck on something...:helpme:

 

i want to change the WOE map a little bit..

 

there is something missing on the default map.

 

i want to add Leeuwarden AirBase..its a X shape airport. are there any x shaped airbases for WOE?

the city is allready there but no airbase..

 

i got the terrain editors old and new one <packages from combat ace.

got the tile update for GermanyCE. not installed but maybe i need something from that package, just in case.

 

what do i need more to do/make this happen what i want.

and how do i get the GermanyCE loaded in to the editor?

do i need to unpack the cat file first?

 

and where do i find something that helps me build a completly own map?

like tutorials editors.. objects.. plugins?

 

sorry for the questions but i can't find a proper tutorial at the moment for my questions..

besides this questions i ask right now.

i lost my job so i got lots of free time at the moment..

 

lot of things i have find on my own and lots of things i all ready finished.

but i can't find out every thing on my own..

so i need some help..

i hope some of you guys can help me with some of my issues and problems i find on my path.

the only dutch airbase in the game is all ready closed <Twente airbase>.. its now a empty base..

some times used for drag/street racing.

 

only volkel and leeuwarden airbase are active airbases..

 

i want to update it for my self not as a mod to upload...

You would have to level the area you wish to place the airports. It is possible to level areas in the stock terrains using the terrain editor but that piece of software requires a lot of patience. I just leveled some areas and updated the Desert Plus terrain so if you like, just pass along the coordinates for the new Dutch airfields and I will try to level the areas. To get the coordinates, just fly over the areas you want the airports placed, go to the map view and write down the map coordinates, east/west then north south. The quicker the better, it doesn't take me long to forget how the terrain editor works! Not aware of any "X" shaped airports so you may be stuck with the large Third Wire airfield. Also, depending on the tiles in the area, it may not be possible to use the exact position. Cheers.

They are called "My Way to Make Terrains." There are six of them in total.

but it ctd crashed on me when its hitting 70 % while loading..

so i did something wrong..

 

i have followed the trick from wrench

copy a excisting airport and change the x and y to the new settings.

and leveled the airports.

after i want to edit volkel airbase i found a error,

 

Laarbruch is located in Netherlands/Belgium..

but its 60 km next to dusseldorf in reallife

 

it was a old RAF base now days its called Airport Weeze..

its a old nuclear base..

 

in 2002 its sold to some people in the Netherlands.

 

the place it use in WOE is the place of Volkel airbase.

 

and there are more airbases on the wrong place.

 

did somebody allready fixed those things in a update for GermanyCE in the past??

 

i saw there was somebody that made a mod/update of GermanyCE

42106 is right one!

 

 

and here's a little trick TK taught me for adding and then flattening airfields, when no citylist.ini exists, or you're adding a new one.

 

Create a new citylistlini (I call my kj_*terrain-name*Cities.ini)

 

then you just add the one place that needs flattening....the example below is from the Persian Gulf, now in the works

runway4 (the semi-x 2 crossing airfield) is a different story, as it reques not 6 tiles, but 10-14 due to it's size

 

save it IN the working terrain's subfolder in the TE (C:\Terrain Editors\Woe_ONLY_TE\GermanyCE)

 

(please note that I name EACH terrain editor for the base terrain, and have one for everyone, plus specific versions for other terrains being worked on)

 

another little hint for airfield placement --- do NOT put them within one tile widt of the ocean or other water feature. When flattened, they tend to really screw up the coastline.

i don't think they're used (like a lot of the 'functions' in GCE TE -- conntect rivers, connect road, etc) At least, i've never used them!

Wrench, I got the airfield area flattened OK but can't seem to get my manually placed grass tiles to show up in game. After hitting save all I put the TFD and HFD into the terrain folder and the grass tiles don't show up in game. I put the very same TFD and HFD tiles back into the terrain editor and they show up fine. Any ideas? This is the first time I have tried to place tiles manually so thought this would be good practice before attempting it on my own terrain build. Getting near hair pulling time in 3-2-1- :crazy:

Got it! One lonely green tile placed manually at the Leeuwarden Airbase. Unfortunately, I'm not sure what I did differently. I'm never quite sure how the terrain editor saves files but this time I put the TFD and HFD files in the same folder as the texture list and tileset and it seems to have worked. There may have been a good TFD file in there all the time but not sure. Done for tonight.

Got it! One lonely green tile placed manually at the Leeuwarden Airbase. Unfortunately, I'm not sure what I did differently. if u read my message i found that there is a error with in the stock GermanyCE map.

 

if i read u name i think u come from the netherlands or Germany..

so i think u know this...

 

airport weeze former name is laarbruch.. its 60 km west of dusseldorf.

 

and where do i find laarbruch in WOE.. Netherlands/belgium.

 

and its all most the right place for Airbase Volkel..

 

who made this map was drunk or very high...

Brugge near Geilenkirchen hahahahah brugge is to the west coast.. and geilenkirchen in belgium hahahahaha

Kind of hard to judge the position of airports on the GermanyCE map compared to a real map. Laarbruch looks like it could be located at Weeze or Uden/Volkel, it is hard to tell. In an atlas I do find a town called Bruggen in Germany though, about 55KM west of Dusseldorf so you are probably confusing Brugge with Bruggen.

well volkel is in a line south west of twente and twente is without a H..

its near Eindhoven.. thats south of the rhine.

 

the big yellow spot above the 3 islands called zeeland or in english Zealand

is rotterdam.. and rotterdam is transfer habour to the ruhr.

wich river they use to do thats the rhine

the yellow spot above the name bruggen on my screenie is Bruxelles

 

in a line north east of bruxelles is Eindhoven/volkel..

 

brugge in belgium is near the coast.

left of antwerp and antwerp is north and a little bit to the west of bruxelles.

and i know how to look at maps. even star maps.

RAF laarbruch or airport weeze is in game more to the south

 

i have send Wrench a copy of my version of europe and brittain is in my version including

i have send him to find out what i did wrong why i dont got sea and some of the tiles don't show up..

my version is not reduced..

 

why because i made a UFO hunting campaign..

with real ufo sightings the famous belgium triangle that did get hunted by the belgium airforce.

in the UK the famous Nuclear bases where things went wrong and a missile starting to get hot on its one.

etc... and for that i needed a accurated map of europe.

 

one of my former post in this topic haves a screenie of the map i make..

and where wrench will going to give a look at why somethings don't pop up.
